Leigh-Anne - Don't Say Love • 1st Single
I mean, her CDs and downloads came out in Week 1 so this week is definitely the best chance of a top ten. I’m not saying the song won’t be a hit. It could have a long, stable chart run. Just saying the top 10 opportunity is definitely this week unless Spotify picks up drastically.

Meh. Not great. If it can climb enough to keep the song in the top 10 then that’s all we need. Let it drop anywhere next week. Let her have this top ten single at least.

Has it climbed from #155?

Most people will only watch these interviews and tune in to them to hear the Little Mix questions though. The ‘getting back together’ stuff is the main soundbite anyone cares about really.

Nice climb!

Think she might scrape something like a #9 debut if her streaming doesn’t pick up to keep her ahead of the others.

Nobody even used the word 'flop'. What is it with defensive, dramatic stans that can't handle a few people on a music forum saying the song is (so far) underperforming and it's not looking good for the chart performance? Did anybody say the word 'flop'? Anybody write the song off completely? Falling out of the top 200 after one day when you've had a fanbase of 11 years from Little Mix (who literally saw them last year in sold out arenas) is strange. Everyone in the country knows Little Mix and anyone who is a fan of them will know for damn sure that Leigh has released music (it's all over Little Mix socials) so why her own fanbase isn't streaming the song is an odd one. Of course the 'casuals' aren't on board yet because it's not on the biggest playlist they use for streaming music but why aren't the Mixers streaming?

It was 33 yesterday.

Yeah, I mean to be brutally honest, while it sucks that she’s not on the biggest playlist yet and that definitely makes a difference, it’s still a shame that the Mixers who kept Little Mix so popular for ten years and attended their sold out arena tour just a year ago aren’t playing this. She’s not REALLY a ‘new artist’ and already had a pre existing fanbase so the song shouldn’t really be gone from the top 200 after one day. (Plenty of time for things to change but I’m just saying that the Mixers should have kept this afloat while we get the casuals on board)

Yikes.

They’ve been quite inconsistent with how they’ve phrased it since the first announcement but I think it’s the same case with every pop group. They’ll of course reunite at some point in the future because 99% of them do (besides The Saturdays ugh) but in the meantime they’ll just give vague answers like ‘never say never’ and ‘you never know’ and refer to the group in past tense.

The video isn't 'bad' at all. It's perfectly serviceable for the most part but for me it's just way too dark. I'm not a fan of music videos in underground/nightclub/warehouse sort of environments where it just looks miserable and grimey and for the second chorus you can barely see her at all even though she's front and centre of the camera because of how bad the lighting is. Intentional or not it's just....weird choices to have so much darkness and dim lighting on a debut video when you're trying to show everyone who you are as a solo artist. I think Leigh also raised expectations with the way she was describing how deep it was but really it's just her standing around or doing some (kinda weak) choreography before she jumps into the water. It's more boring and uneventful than 'bad'.

How can you possibly say that when it's been out for 18 hours? We haven't even saw it's debut on Spotify yet!

The flashing lights in the white room setup are not it. I just watched again on a bigger screen and had to look away. Do directors really not know there’s people out there with light sensitivites and stuff like that can trigger fits and nausea? (Maybe there was a warning at the start that I missed though, and this isn’t me coming for Leigh, it’s just an artistic choice that I hate is still being used in 2023)

Yeah the video was boring. It’s way too dark for 80% of it (is she really in total darkness for the second chorus?!) and I’m not sure what any of it has to do with the lyrics. A video of her doing choreo or being outdoors in the summer daylight weather would have been way better. And I suppose I should also say (before I get accused of ‘trolling’ for daring to give negative feedback) that the song is still amazing and she looks incredible. Just HATE videos that are so dark! Arghh

This is really good. Well done Leigh-Anne. Hoping it's a smash. I am TIRED of pop groups disbanding and the members all flopping. Makes the whole solo career stuff so underwhelming. BTW is anyone else unable to play it on Spotify? I can't find her artist page or the song anywhere and when my friend sent me a link to it, I tried to play and it said it was unavailable so I had to listen on YouTube instead...

The Saturdays
N-Dubz split up in 2011 so I'd be surprised if after 12 years that their singles hadn't gotten new certifications. Everyone and anyone would get a Silver certification after that period of time if they're on playlists and had a presence on the music scene for years. The Saturdays also got new certifications since streaming was introduced. It happens to everyone.

1st WEEK PREDICTION • DON'T SAY LOVE
I'm calling it. Number 1.

The Saturdays
Oh yeah I don't think The Sats could do arena tours but I mean if N-Dubz can do arenas with less successful discography than The Sats then they should at LEAST be able to sell out theatres on nostalgia alone.
-
The Saturdays
If N-Dubz (who had maybe a handful of hits and were active for about 4 years) can sell out arena tours in 2023 then I'm sure The Saturdays can pull something off. There's a nostalgia wave with pop groups from the 90's and 00's getting back together and it's really weird The Saturdays (a group who genuinely liked eachother and had a dozen top ten singles) haven't done it yet. Come on girls. Get back together for a trashy Xenomania type pop bop, a short UK tour, some TV interviews and then you never need to be asked about it again.

I agreed. Perrie is the most popular and even if she releases last she'll probably still have an easier time getting a hit than the other two girls. I feel like Jade is also a bit more well known as an individual than Leigh too (more followers?) so the best strategy for all girls to get a hit is probably a Leigh > Jade > Perrie rollout.

Sam Smith - Gloria
Their show last night ended after 4 songs due to 'vocal issues'. It really sounds like they have Long Covid or something. Really weird why their team and the media keep going on about their 'mystery virus'.

Leigh-Anne - TBA • 1st Album
Agreed. I mean, of COURSE they're allowed to do their own thing and take as long as they want after 10 years of Little Mix but it does seem very foolish to wait a whole year (and counting) to release your solo material when all the hype from the Little Mix split will be long gone. They obviously know they aren't going to get anywhere near LM levels of success with their solo attempts but I thought all three would like a solo top ten single under their belt at least and dragging it out this long is a weird choice. I think Perrie and Jade are more likely to get a hit than Leigh so I'd expect Leigh to release first to get the most hype. I feel like if she released last she'd probably be overshadowed by the other two.
