2024 BPI Certifications
Guessing we won't get the full set of certifications for this week until after new years. Huge milestone for Mariah to end the year on. :cheer:

Sprinter wasn’t good on release, let alone now :puke2:

Streaming Services Chart Discussion
Time for everyone to get behind Leona & Calum’s new single as the first smash of 2025. ;)

Leona Lewis - One More Sleep
Great to see it showing up all over the place now and in the global 200. :cheer: Not OMS, but winter wonderland from the same album is doing some great numbers in Switzerland and Germany, with over one million streams yesterday in Germany! Sadly, not seeing Kiss Me It’s Christmas anywhere on Spotify, but I don’t think it is on any promoted playlists now, so makes sense.

Friday Chart Predictions
So we are looking at 5 non-Christmas songs top 40 at this stage, with Die With A Smile and Sailor Song just outside. With today being a working day, I wouldn't be surprised if it helps the non-Christmas songs enough to keep Chrystal and/or Defying Gravity in at least. Britney and Leona need to start climbing.

UK artists in a bit of a lull?
At least we had Charli XCX smashing, but it was definitely a disappointing year overall. Here’s hoping 2025 has some big surprises in store.

2024 BPI Certifications
Yeah I suspect that it has been getting the streams for Rebellion. Wouldn’t be the first time we have seen a song next to a big hit on an album get the streams (MMMBop streams seem to be going to Thinking Of You). Guessing this is down to the song codes getting muddled up where the tracks are next to each other on their respective albums, but who knows for sure.

Friday Chart Predictions
There is a combined version with the live tracks added to the main album (at least on streaming services), so guessing that will be why.

Streaming Services Chart Discussion
Leona has also been placed much lower. Here’s hoping OMS gains in the UK top 50 help counter this drop.

2024 BPI Certifications
Always good to see another Will Young certification.

iTunes Weekly Thread w/c 13th December 2024
Here’s hoping Leona and Calum do some promo for Give A Little Bit. What they were thinking surprise dropping a charity record (which doesn’t even mention the charity on the artwork), is beyond me.

Christmas #01 betting odds
I’m not so sure this year will be a turning point on occ rules. If anything, the fact it is the 40th anniversary with tv specials and new physicals gives them a way to explain why Wham has done it again, rather than admit the playlists and Alexa effect. We just need more acts/labels not giving up on big new releases in December which I see as the bigger issue right now. Messy for example, is proving you can still break through with new non-Christmas music at this time of the year.

2024 BPI Certifications
Fully expecting 3x platinum for One More Sleep in the next couple weeks. The gap will only widen sadly (at least in my opinion), so long as Spotify continues to give it very poor placement. Another good week for Chappell and always good to see a new Ciara certification.

The UK charts are broken
I do wonder if more people would follow the charts if they were done differently, which I doubt. Even if they did amend the chart to boost turnover, most people don't check the charts for new music and just put on popular playlists. The charts might look more exciting but that wouldn't change the fact most people don't care about finding new music and getting long term support for new artists. That needs to come from spotify, apple, amazon etc + labels investing more in new artists.

2024 BPI Certifications
Not surprised to see Hung Up getting certified 2 x platinum at last. Seen it a lot on socials, recently so think there is an element of virality boosting Hung Up right now. Another certification for Celine is also great to see. A good week for the divas (Aretha, Etta James and Diana Ross included).

UK Chart Information - Singles & Albums
At least looking at certification dates, Baby's 3x platinum certification was 8 November 2019, so it took over 5 years to do 600k, compared to the 2 years and just under 10 months for Toxic. Applying the same rates again would have Toxic overtake in just over 5.5 years. If Baby was only at 2 million in Aug 2022 as LoveMeDown noted, then that would show a big upturn in streams for Baby over the last 2 years, but think it still works out as Toxic gaining more per month. Will take a lot longer for Toxic to overtake though. Hoping we will get Hold Me Closer platinum before the end of the year.

2024 BPI Certifications
Despite the new album not making top 100 this week, at least Mary J Blige has managed to get a couple new certifications so not all bad.

The BuzzJack Friday Chart Show Thread: 22nd November 2024
I think the big surge for Christmas music later in the week ended up pushing it out sadly. It is #2 on the sales only chart ahead of Sam Fender, who we know had 1865 cd sales from the sales report, so it sold at least that before streams are considered.

Top 100 Singles + Albums; W/E 21/11/24
I wonder if Now & Then getting a little boost from the Grammy nominations affected the switch this week.

Top 100 Singles + Albums; W/E 21/11/24
ACR doing its job with the number of new entries and climbers compared to what the streaming charts look like. Net week already shaping a load more new entries. Definitely a much more subdued Christmas impact this year, although only one fewer top 40. For comparison with the chart announced 17 November last year: 26 - Last Christmas (today 43) 28 - All I Want For Christmas Is You (today 38) 65 - Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree (today 76) 68 - It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas 71 - Santa Tell Me (today 97) 81 - Merry Christmas Everyone 84 - Jingle Bell Rock 86 - Fairytale Of New York (today 90) 88 - You're Christmas To Me 90 - Underneath The Tree + much lower start in Buble's Christmas start this year (95) compared to last year (32).

2024 BPI Certifications
Celine's fifth platinum single behind My Heart Will Go On (x3), Think Twice (x2), It's All Coming Back To Me Now (x2) and Because You Loved Me. :cheer: So pleased it is getting its flowers now as one of her most iconic songs.

Friday Chart Predictions
JADE already being 37 is concerning. Let's hope she stabilises, but assuming top 40 will be out of the question unless she gets a big spike in streams. Great that Teardops is in the update. Will no doubt plummet as the week goes on, but hopefully done enough to stay to 100.

Poor Perrie not even scraping a second week with You Go Your Way. :(

Leona Lewis - This Version (The View Theme)
The queen of drip feeding her fans. Really hoping she doesn't leave us waiting too much longer for album news.
