  1. I am here for it this year to try match The Beatles record and get the most consecutive years. Why wouldn’t they go for it when it would put them in the record books. Nice to actually have something engage the general public with the Christmas chart again. Rather this than have stuff like Rockabye at the top. More acts seem to have caught on to the benefits of a big Christmas single, what with the Alexa surges each year, so there is increasing competition each year. Ladbaby’s reign won’t last forever.
  2. I am not surprised sadly. Can’t see anyone bar die hard fans going out of their way to get the vinyl and hardly incentive to stream the whole album for the sake of two songs. Hopefully it will sell ok in December still when most people start listening to Christmas music regularly and casual audiences are buying Xmas albums. The CD should be selling for pretty cheap these days.
  3. Interesting to see the difference to last year, thanks Dan. Xmas chart might not be so horrid if the trend for less Christmas listening compared to 2020 keeps up. Shame Leona seems to be one of those impacted most by this currently though :nocheer:

Having listened only once it hasn’t clicked yet. Hoping more songs click second time round but for now I do think Easy On Me was the strongest song this album has to offer
  5. Isn’t Adele’s ex American? I know she said they live opposite each other and share joint custody of their son, so makes sense if that is where he is based. I am sure the fact she can also be more secluded there helps (from my understanding the rate of tax is lower too but whether that is a factor is another matter). Hoping this can be the first album to break 100k in streaming sales. Off to a good start and the special should help keep interest up over the week.
  6. I have no doubt it will be repeated at some point plus they haven’t announced if/when the recent US special with an Oprah visit will be aired here. Curious to also see if there is any dedicated promo to the second single.
  7. Yeah, it was only the single released on the 12th. Album is out today. I am enjoying the If I Can’t Have You cover, though I am surprised they haven’t made it more festive/Christmas themed. Sticks out a bit on a Christmas album.
  8. It’s not even 8am yet? No need for this.
  9. For a top 20 list I would have liked more sales figures. Glad You Came is definitely the standout so well deserved top spot. I do also have a soft spot for Walks Like Rihanna, though I get why the band don’t like it. Cheesiest single they released.
  10. *Expects Mr Brightside to be #1 for 45 weeks of the year* Taylor looking pretty comfortable in front of Adele on Spotify. I think #1 is a bit far out of reach given the lack of interest on some other platforms but hopefully it can take #2 from Ed.
  11. Clearly the OCC doing some rigging to keep their fave on top :P So pleased by the performance of the 10 minute version. In age where more artists are putting out short songs under 2-3 minutes, this shows people will invest in more lengthy tracks when the quality is this good.
  12. Crazy to think it will have taken over 20 years for the second one, given the number of big/culturally significant hits Britney has had.
  13. Exactly, this is no different to any of the XXth anniversary deluxe album re-releases we are seeing regularly. It is by no means the normal track listing. It is mainly the US billboard charts where the impact is felt most, but like any of the charts globally, there is nothing stopping them tweaking the rules if it becomes problematic. Agree with those saying the 10 minute version of all too well doesn’t feel like the length of time it covers, really well done track. Would love to hear it on radio but can’t imagine radio 1 devoting 10 mins of the chart show to one track
  14. Impressive first day for Taylor, especially getting a 10 minute track so high!! Will be interesting to see how the tracks hold up over the week.
  15. The label have clearly caught onto something here. Let’s hope it can make a difference. I am guessing that Tate McRae isn’t a Bo Burnham cover (as much as I would love to hear that).
  16. Leona clearly jumping on the Lorde bandwagon with this re-issue :P
  17. I wouldn’t go that far just yet, but would be a great achievement if they did. Looking like buzzjack majority might actually get this prediction right :D
  18. It is over 3 years old so can only be reset manually which as Bre has pointed out, is extremely unlikely. KMIC is the single they are plugging for the re-release, so I doubt the label would intentionally put the focus on OMS by requesting a manual reset.
  19. This is definitely a big factor. I recall going into supermarkets when Divide was out and they would have big displays at front of the store with the album plus spots dotted near the tills. Looking around Asda yesterday for the ABBA album and the cds are tucked away right in the back, well away from most of the other aisles. Only those looking for the cd section would find it, so they will lose a lot of the casual buyers that would impulse buy the CD.
  20. Looks like a good clear out this week and hopefully next. Hopefully means we will get a few more new hits in before Christmas music takes over the top 100.
  21. The song is perfect for the radio 2 audience which is what I am guessing the label were going for, but anyone hoping for new music that could actually be a chart success, it is a letdown for sure. The fact they aren’t giving it a full blown cd release and it is being treated like some bonus tracks made available to celebrate the vinyl release tells me they aren’t expecting much from this and it is just something to tide the fans over (and have something to plug at the GB tour).
  22. This album is classic ABBA through and through. Definitely doesn’t disappoint. Shame it is only 10 tracks but if nothing else, encourages repeat listens. If general audiences feel the same, this could be quite the consistent streamer.
  23. Agreed. A top 100 simply isn’t reflective enough for the whole year in the age is streaming. Unless some mega event happens, I can’t see anything released from this point in the year making top 100.

Let’s hope this brings a return of B-sides. Not a fan of all these 1 track CDs.

Even ignoring the political songs, BTS showed there was a clear issue with the weighting of downloads and how this can currently be abused. Definitely needs a review.
