  1. Crazy it wasn’t available to buy/stream until last year. Major missed opportunity not making it available at the time. Glad to see it getting a little attention at least now
  2. I am surprised to not see Maneskin at all considering this is their first new single after blowing up with beggin’ and IWBYS. Do we think there might be some sort of glitch or are they just bombing?

They are great for collectors items so far more appealing these days than a download. I just wish we got b-sides in more of them to incentivise fans to get the exclusive content. If the artists I followed released some with b-sides, I would definitely pick up the cd.
  4. It’s the first solo LM song and Jesy has by far had the most press (whether she wanted it or not), so not surprised there are loads of curiosity streams/listens. Time will tell if it holds out.
  5. I went with ABBA second week though I wouldn’t be surprised if Ed’s streaming edges it. ABBA have shown that they can still get respectable streams though so won’t be like a lot of other front loaded albums where there is no streaming presence. Taylor has done well with her first weeks and Red was the first big album campaign for Taylor here so has that behind it.

Hopefully this will be a turning point for Billboard like Divide was over here. You know most of the tracks will plummet next week, just like the Kanye ones did this week. It’s only going to get worse otherwise, what with Billboard rules encouraging albums with 20+ track lists.

I see what you did there. ;) Disappointing result for JLS. I do think the return of ABBA took away a lot of publicity that would have gone into their return, but I didn’t see any big promo pushes happening. Unless you are global icons, you can’t do a comeback without the promo to show people you are back.
  8. Shivers going in the wrong direction. Going to need the regain some ground if Ed is after a multi-week #1. Will have to check out that Anxiety track. Willow coming for that second top 40 hit this year.
  9. Shivers sounds huge, very commercial. Have no doubt it will do very well. Will see what tactics Ed and his label bring out to get the number one by a comfortable margin.
  10. Hoping for a good clear out next week based on that 2 week decline list. Crazy Pink has held out so long. I think the song will be remembered better than the chart position suggests.
  11. Poor JLS dropping out rather than climbing. Really couldn’t have ended up being a worse week for their comeback single.
  12. Billboard charts don’t have any rules around capping a number of tracks when calculating streamed album sales, so we are seeing more and more of these bloated track lists which give them a major uplift on the US charts. No doubt Drake’s album sales will look massive there. 60k here would very impressive still considering scorpion had big lead singles to hype up the release with. Will see if the drop in downloads will stop it beating Scorpion’s first week. Those ABBA Spotify numbers! So pleased for them. Let’s hope they don’t drop off a cliff as the week goes on.
  13. America picking the the more classic ABBA track of the two, hopefully top 10 shortly. More Aaliyah great to see though was hoping to see Are You That Somebody as the higher of the two big tracks re-released yesterday.
  14. Thank god for ACR with these big 20+ track album drops.
  15. As much as I would love ABBA to be top, I can't see Ed dropping enough sales or ABBA's sales being high enough to stop him getting two weeks at least at the top. The fact it only has 10 tracks will not help given the album stream rules, so Ed will have an advantage with 14 tracks available and the top 12 making up album 'sales' compared to ABBA's 10. Agree with post noting the Christmas/winter single with the right promo could get it to the top later on still.
  16. A number of exciting releases this week. Looking forward to seeing how things develop. ABBA rightfully at the top, definitely the most exciting music story for the week.
  17. That cheque from Riton’s label must have been pretty hefty

There are different ratios for premium and free streams, so it isn’t a set 1:100 like it used to be. Unless you know the free to premium ratio, it is hard to calculate.
  19. Tik Tok has certainly kept the chart interesting with surprises like this. The fact streaming makes the chart more about consumption rather than sales has stopped large sales being a problem to things doing well long term or rebounding. Just a shame they don’t pick up recently released tracks as quick (with the exception of Doja Cat it seems). Glad Lizzo is back on the rise, still really enjoying rumours.

I went with top 40. Don’t see how they will do with streaming. Most of the discussions I saw around Time was people thinking JLS made a drill song which drove a lot of curiosity listens. Not sure if that will translate with an official single in their more traditional pop/R&B sound (if it is pop as I suspect).
  21. So pleased to see the re-peak for Aaliyah. Clearly still has a very dedicated fanbase stateside. Shame it didn’t chart here in the UK where she had more notable hits from the album.
  22. It’s a shame we haven’t had a recent sales update for these publicly available so we get an idea of their weekly/annual sales in the streaming era.

Arcade is still creeping up after all this time! Looking forward to seeing how far it goes. :D Great achievement for The Weeknd. Looks set to push that record threshold much further too.
  24. I am hoping when they do finally get Jamie off of Britney’s conservatorship, there will be enough media attention and fan support to give the catalogue a big boost. Nice to see that sales update. Respectable boost to Sometimes. Don’t think it is as well remembered as most of the other big hits.
  25. Don’t know if it was always the plan but definitely the right course of action. NDA didn’t really set the charts alight whereas Happier Than Ever has a lot more going for it. Hoping Oxytocin starts climbing more as it is a clear stand out on the album.
