  1. He has the New Year’s gig tonight on BBC One as well! Had more support from them than any ‘the voice’ act ever got.
  2. New peak of #37 in the Netherlands. :cheer:

Shot up to #59 now! Just missed re-peaking at #58.
  4. Probably because Dean Martin’s version is on the way. <_<
  5. Glad Nat King Cole finally got a top 40 peak with this. Definitely my favourite version of this song.
  6. Calm Down deserved a better peak than #10. Looking promising to re-peak next week.

Thanks for putting this together Dan. Great seeing some Christmas songs at least by the end, Gwen being my favourite of those listed.
  8. Raye smashing it! Here’s hoping radio gets behind Escapism.

In the same boat here, have no issues with Buble on top. He is the artist who has the most songs dominating at this time of year and hopefully means another week of 20k+ units. Hoping Sza can peak in the new year as more people discover the album.

That’s promising, hopefully this can at least be a decent radio hit. I can’t fault the song myself, definitely hyped for the other new music after this.
  11. The BBC have been spamming it for their ‘Movies on over Xmas’ ad.
  12. What a mess, poor Brenda did not deserve this
  13. It's pure nostalgia - everyone has grown up with them. Only instead of just being played at parties and compilation cds, they are now charting again. Even then, another symptom with the americanised playlists which still live in the 50s at the top end. Can't complain myself still when I mainly listen to the 8s tracks like Wham and Shakin' Stevens.

I am not sure about rival tracks, as most labels/artists don’t want to intentionally fight a charity song. Given the backlash we are starting to see and worse performance this year, I can’t see a 6th attempt being received well. Let him get the record for most Xmas #1s and call it a day.

I think Cliff could actually take it. He has loads of tv and radio appearances coming up this week. Was hoping Christmas Drilling would be higher, but I suppose top 40 is a win. Rooting for Wham or Mariah.
  16. Agreed. Hearing it sung out to the tune of Band Aid really made this song choice just feel wrong. At least with the other parodies, there wasn't a cause behind the original songs so the novelty value was the main focus. Rooting for RAYE or Christmas Drilling this year.
  17. ACR is only for streaming so those sales would not be halved. Would rather people went for Raye instead as they aren’t on ACR and only song right now with the streams to make up for a lack of downloads.
  18. I know most albums end up having either lyric videos or just an official YouTube video of the album tracks with only the artwork shown, so guess this would pick those up. Would hopefully encourage more music videos but not holding my breath. On another note, it mentions the top 16 tracks are counted, but I thought it was 12. Has it always been 16 or was this updated recently?

Really enjoying the album right now, some very good material. Shame the singles haven’t done anything, though IHYWYD was a total misfire. With some minor lyric changes this could have been more palatable.

Tbf, Sia isn’t doing promo either and most of their success this year is due to decent playlist positioning on the bigger US centric playlists.

Expecting this to get an extra boost on Sunday’s streams with the snowy weather we have had. Agree with what has been said about the top ten on the playlist just getting blasted, though worth noting much more user choice impact as you get lower down. Oh Santa for example is quite high on Christmas hits, yet only just scraping the top 200. On the other side One More Sleep is consistently performing better than it’s playlist positioning. Hoping Raye can maintain these numbers into the new year. Really healthy numbers.
  22. Just spotted this has finally been released digitally! Been a long time coming.
  23. Telling myself this will be the last one to beat the Beatles record, rather than just match it. If it is a Band Aid cover that that suggests a potential ensemble cast of supporting artists. Don’t know where he could go from there but down. If there was another genuine challenger fighting for #1 being blocked then I would care more, but most artists ignore the month now. Having said that, rooting for Wham or Mariah so they finally have the actual Christmas #1.

Bet Lewis’ team are wishing they lined up the release with the video and physicals now. I suspect it will peak in the new year, but not looking great to be a big seller.

I can’t comment on Apple/Amazon support, but the support on Spotify seems much worse than last year from what I can see. Quite high on Easy Christmas with 112k followers, but otherwise not on anything else with a decent following. Considering the main playlists have millions of followers, that’s peanuts. Clearly RAYE’s Monday numbers have crashed the chart…
