ACR Status Updates
I was actually hoping for more of an ACR clear out this week where there are few releases looking to impact this week. Really hoping death bed does get its 3rd week and drops to ACR next week. Find it incredibly dull.

Kelly Clarkson - I Dare You
I think the Faouzia duet is pretty epic, but don’t think we can expect another big stadium worthy pop/rock song from Kelly anytime soon. She seemed quite happy to leave that behind on the last album.

ABBA - Voyage
I am in the same boat there. They have sat on these songs for so long now am expecting a larger project for their release. That or they have gone off the songs and the release never happens

UK Chart Information - Singles & Albums
Crazy when you look at its cultural status. Probably the last big signature song of hers (unless a future era blows up commercially). Still annoyed about its delayed release so long after the rest of the world.

...Baby One More Time ● rank the singles
...Baby One More Time (You Drive Me) Crazy Born To Make You Happy Sometimes From The Bottom Of My Broken Heart As others have mentioned If the stop remix of (you drive me) crazy was the album version, it would be top.

iTunes Weekly Thread w/c 29th May 2020
It is becoming a viral hit on its own rights. Doing well on streaming too. I wouldn’t be surprised if a good proportion of those listening don’t know its Eurovision connection.

New Release Schedule: Friday 29 May
Is that Lolly as in 90’s Viva La Radio Lolly!?!

Spotify & Apple Music Chart Discussion
You have just described Gaga’s back catalogue. People love her obscure lyrics and often unorthodox song melodies/set ups.

The 1975's top 10 biggest selling singles
Chart positions mean so little these days. To think even Robbers with that 166 peak is a silver certified (200,000 units) song. Surprised someone else didn’t make top 40 still.

Spotify Chart Thread [April 2020]
Ava doing much better than last week. Hopefully it is enough to go top 40 combined with its performance on other platforms.

Oldest acts to reach No1 in the Official UK Chart
Bit of an odd list due them almost all having circumstances around their release boosting their popularity. Nonetheless it is a shame there are no female artists in that list (obviously not including Kelly Osbourne). I am guessing Cher is only just outside this with Believe.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 24th April 2020
Nice to see the iTunes chart being genuinely influential on the charts again, even if it is just for the quarantine period and focused on charity singles. I imagine if people are using iTunes more, then they might download some other stuff they see at the same time. When I did download stuff, it was rare it would just be the odd one song especially if there are some decent 59p tracks.

Live Lounge Allstars - Times Like These
It is frustrating Perfect Day is still not available to download/stream. A genuinely decent charity single. I love the song itself, so happy to see Times Like These get more exposure, even as a charity cover.

That’s a good update for Ava!

YTD UK Albums : Sales estimates - week 14
Agreed, biggest surprise for me on the list. Things looking good for his follow up to do well when that comes out based on his longevity with the album. Expecting Dua to comfortably be in that top 15 this time next week.

Uggghhhhh. Doesn’t feel like we have ever really had a break from Drake in the last 5 years

Spotify Chart Thread [March 2020]
This exactly - I don’t think anyone enjoying roses gives much attention to the lyrics. The JP Saxe song doesn’t really do anything for me and I love most of Julia Michaels stuff, but then again, I don’t care what my exes are up to so maybe that’s why!

Spotify Chart Thread [March 2020]
For a pop girl, those initial figures are fantastic! She isn’t Ed Sheeran or a rapper with a huge initial streaming drive like we see normally dog piling the top of streaming charts. I have no doubt this will be a consistent seller. Social media is hyped about it.

Impact of coronavirus on music industry
A lot of brits stream on the commute to work and their night out playlists. With people being inside all the time, those streams start thinning out. Sunday’s are normally the weakest day of the weak streaming wise so I expect more streams following those levels. Even then, not everyone looks for new music. As that article Bjork posted suggests, expect the top 100 to get more older tracks coming back *waits for Mr Brightside, Perfect and Shotgun to re-enter the top 40*

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 21st February 2020
With streaming, an early release doesn’t really do any damage. Streams normally build over time rather than peak immediately (unless you are a major global artist). Downloads are unlikely to be huge for Mabel, so the streaming playlist benefits mentioned already outweigh the loss of 1-2 days sales.

YTD T40 Albums (with estimated sales)
Double Fleetwood Mac already! I suspect as the album market declines, the top 100 list will end up filled with more greatest hits/classic albums year on year. Hopefully we do get some albums this year that generate enough sustained interest to be a consistent seller over time. Bar Lewis and Billie, I don’t think any others from last year could end up as a classic people are still investing in years down the line. Interesting about the decline %, thanks for sharing vid. Do you collate any sales data for the compilation chart? Was wondering if you had any estimated sales for the Frozen 1 soundtrack? No problem if not.

US Hot 100 – 1/11/2020
Seems like an odd song to return to #1 at this point, but I am glad it stopped Maroon 5 getting it. They have done so much better previously. Really nice climb for Dua and Before You Go looking to break in to the top 100 soon.

iTunes Weekly Thread w/c 3rd January 2020
I don’t think it is awful, just a generic trap sounding song. Could have been done by probably any contemporary rapper to the same effect, if not better. Either way, I think it will do well on streaming regardless of opinion on here. I thought I don’t care was dull and that was number one for ages. Unless some real competition pops up, I can see this being number one until March.

UK recorded music market up 7.5%
I think Ed could with the right material. His collab album was not really catering to the audience that want more perfect/thinking out loud/a-team etc material. Either way if albums keep declining as they have, I suspect there would be less than 10-15 this decade coming.
