I selected Mariah more out of personal preference to be honest, but I do think she has a really good shot this year. Would be nice for her to get their on the 25th anniversary. I also want Wham to keep the record for best selling #2 which I expect Mariah's sales to overtake in the not too distant future. Stormzy will have the #1 next week after the christmas music dies off, so he will still get his time at the top.

Really hope Lewis breaks through the 600k threshold before year end.

I love how the chart run is almost mirroring last year's performance. Last year it went 42 - 28 - 19 - 8. So far it has gone 43 - 29. Fingers crossed it gets to 20 this week!

She is a guest judge on the X factor band show, so right now she is in the public eye which has some impact too. Update - just seen she was also on this morning yesterday so there is another reason

Yeah, most likely. Had the first day of December fall on a weekend so loads putting a playlist on while setting up the Xmas tree. Will probably be getting bigger weekend boosts as the day gets closer still.

In the sales thread they confirm it is 27 on the year to end chart currently. Will no doubt be in the top 20, but 10 might be too much to expect. I really do hope Ed and Lewis break the 600k threshold. If the greatest showman has a decent tv slot this year it could get some bumper sales in the last few weeks.

Omg at Break Up Bye Bye breaking the top 100! Even if it is for 1 day that is an impressive achievement for an online only show song with no playlist support. I don’t think RuPaul has ever had a song break the top 200 let alone any random song from one of the main show’s challenges.

There seems like more of an immediate Xmas buzz this year, with things like Mariah’s walkers as being released. I can see it being around what joyride has mentioned, at least initially before dropping lower for a few weeks

This is something I wonder and expect every era now, yet they have a habit of pulling something out the bag. With the right sound (and potentially right feature), they can still get a large audience behind them. Having not listened to the new stuff yet to see whether this sounds on trend or not though. Time will tell.

Really don’t understand the appeal of memories by Maroon 5. Really hope this isn’t a big hit for them when songs like Misery tanked.

If anything, I am expecting this to be the week dance monkey starts making big strides thanks to the lack of big releases. Expecting it to be top 2 in a couple days.

Top 40 is the grade for me, but as others have mentioned it is all contextual based on the artists popularity at the time. Genre also plays a role too (for example, rock does not get much attention from streaming so a top 75 song would be a more appropriate grade to me).

The song is too basic. The fact it is doing as well as it is can be put down to Ed and JB's name power. Will be interesting to see how it holds up over the next few weeks.

The album isn’t even platinum and the album has never been discounted in iTunes, so definitely not owned by everyone in her casual fanbase. It is 3 years after release still and didn’t have any singles properly pushed, so don’t think it will make much immediate impact still. Definitely will help it in the long run with her streaming audience.

That video is such a mess. I am not sure more editing could have saved it. It is a shame things went so wrong with the video for this song. With a decent video, this could have had the impacted it needed to break top 40 here. You compare both of those to the slumber party video and they pale in comparison.

The US system for youtube views on the chart is pretty messed up, where it includes adverts and viral vids like the Harlem Shake.
