  1. Come and Get It is my fave of his but little interest in following him as an artist. I think most of the public feel the same, though that’s not to say if he brings out something catchy (and its gets plenty of airplay) that people wouldn’t get behind it.

Out of those I picked Glassheart. Shows a different side to Leona compared to what we had seen from Spirit & Echo. Shame it never got its chance.

Pretty sure free trials are still treated as premiums as you have to subscribe first, even if you don’t pay until the end of the trial period. YouTube video views are the only other big platform I can think of subject to the 600/1200 (acr) ratios.

This includes units from streaming. When streaming first started being included, every 100 audio streams equated to 1 sale. This was tweaked last summer to also add video streams, but also streams from non-subscription services now needing 600 streams per unit of sale. This has resulted in a lot of older songs such as FWW picking up decent ‘sales’ in the streaming age, hence so many older songs getting new certifications even if their paid for sales haven’t been that great.

BeBe is building nicely. I think Last Hurrah will end up being a decent sized hit for her. Glad to see it doing well after I'm A Mess didn't really do anything here.

Really frustrating to see Juice’s lack of progress. It is the sort of song you know would really benefit from a decent hot hits placement but is not given the opportunity. At least downloads are good, but that alone won’t keep it in the top 75 for long.

The song is pretty dull so not surprised. I imagine the song will do well on YouTube and is 59p on iTunes, so I am sure it will still do ok as far as charting top 40. Yay at Lizzo and Little Mix making a good climb. Not keen on the think about us remix, but don’t want to see the single flop.

Pink is much more active than Christina & Avril which I would say is the biggest factor. I do also think Avril and Christina’s output have both gone down, moreso than Pink’s, especially when it comes to lead singles for previous eras. Avril did lose plenty of fans over the drastic change in her sound for the best damn thing, something she has never recovered from. Back to the topic, I do feel like Walk Me Home is Pink’s weakest lead single since there you go (and raise your glass if you count that). Still enjoyable enough, but not really stand out Pink.

Who would have thought Westlife would still be top 100 on Spotify streaming 6+ weeks after release? Lizzo seriously needs to get a move on and start making some good climbs.
  10. I would say Dumb Blonde is much closer to Hollaback Girl than it is Stupid Girls.
  11. Expecting TGS to get a boost after Hugh’s BRITs performance, so should help keep it in front of Ariana for a while longer. Wondering how consistently Thank U, Next will sell. Bar My Everything, none of her albums have gone platinum so not expecting this to stay top 5 by end of the year even if it does get to the top briefly. Vid/Paul, do you have sales for Mabel’s Ivy To Roses? Thanks in advance.

Really hoping we get some news soon about more music.
  13. I don’t get how songs like this and Victoria Becham’s This Groove/Let Your Head Go are still not available on these services. Can’t imagine there are any real costs attached to having them available on such platforms. Even with them being on different labels, I can’t see how them being available would be a problem for artist or label. Pandora’s Box is one of my faves which I discovered through a NOW album, shame to see it outside the top 10. The lack of availability beyond release looks to be the main cause rather than a lack of popularity.

This was definitely the weakest Brits I have ever watched. I found the international part laughable where they basically went ‘none of the winners could be bothered to attend’. That international star presence was quite noticeable (bar P!nk). The global success award should change annually like award pink won. Ed already has the recognition, so seems off to praise him two years in a row for the same album/era. Really don’t get Tom winning for his 1 hit single (I know he has released more stuff but for now that is all he is known for), but fair play if it was fan voted. My fave performance was Jorja’s, though I get why others might not have liked it. Pink is a close second, but as has been mentioned was let down by the medley only containing songs from the last 2 eras and the one upcoming, ignoring the previous 5 that got her to where she is now.
  15. Disappointed they didn’t update the sales. I would get if it was one of their longer lists, but a top 10 shouldn’t be that much work. At the The bpi certifications help keep some tabs on how the songs are doing. Complicated went platinum (600k) in December and my happy ending went silver (200k) in November, so everything above that is at least 200k.

I am happy for Ariana but disappointed by the material. Weakest album so far for me. Time will tell if the streams hold up.

Enjoying on first listen. Would love to see Leona do some features like this (just please no more with Pitbull).
  18. They aren't having Get Weird/Glory Days immediate success but still too soon to write this off. Think About Us hasn't had a big tv performance like Touch to get an immediate boost from. Still no video either. Having said that, I expect this era to have a similar level of success to the Salute era. Not monumental, but enough to keep public interest going. I do find the rent a rap feature rather pointless and wish the label wouldn't keep using it as a crutch to boost each single release. If they are going to do a new single edit, I would rather they just switched up the song more than stick a feature on it. Would love to get a more club based mix for Wasabi, could see that doing well in clubs and dance stations with a good remix.

I get that it is lazy in most people choose a playlist now rather than hunt for specific artists, but this is no different to people tuning into a radio station they like and relying on them to introduce music. Very few actively seek out music themselves. The big difference is people no longer have to make a conscious decision to invest money into a single/album where they can now just get everything for free
  20. I think what is meant when people mention push is that Jess had a single from the album she was promoting around the time. Ariana basically gave up on promoting Sweetener/Breathin’ when Thank U, Next dropped. I am sure Sweetener did benefit from Ari having another hit, but not as much as it would had TUN been on Sweetener.
  21. Ariana has never been a huge album seller in the U.K. None of her previous albums have got to platinum despite now being out for years, even when downloads and album sales were higher. Sweetener achieved more ‘sales’ in a year than any of her previous ones did, even with My everything having two number ones in it’s year of release. Not everything Ariana release smashes, you only have to look at the light is coming. Came out after NTLTC with the video and a Nicki feature and still tanked. I am not keen on this one but there are clearly people who like it. Still far too soon to label it a big hit though.
  22. The Ariana track is so disappointing. I can't see this one being a long running big hit. Expecting a similar chart run to Imagine. Time will tell.

Leona is far from being in a position never to crack the top 100 again. A huge hit single is not likely but even Snow Patrol could get a top 100 song last year. Having said that, you only need to look at acts like Panic! At The Disco who got their highest charting hit last year over 10 years after their last major hit. You never know what the future will hold. You Are The Reason only just missed the top 40 and it was the duet that was the main selling power, so interest is there.
  24. I can definitely see George having another couple singles after Hold My Girl which should keep it going throughout the year. Hopefully it will get the 300k+ it needs this year to get there before 2020

Nice to see her, even if it was a quick flash. Hoping she gets some good acting moments to shine
