  1. Mad when you look at how big Jessie was for her debut and now struggles to impact at all. Don’t think the Christmas album even went top 100 (correct me if I am wrong). Lungs should go 1.8 million this year overall, so 6 x platinum! :cheer:

Glassheart would have been a great winter dance single. In an ideal scenario we would have got this instead of the Hurt ‘EP’ that winter. Very rarely listen to Hurt and don’t think it did Leona any favours in the long run (the streams for Hurt are pretty poor).
  3. They only have one more year to hold out so not impossible by any means.

It should have been one of the lead singles before album release. Best song on the album for me from the very first listen through.

They have both been certified Silver for 200,000 units so not gold yet. Still seems surprising for songs just over a minute each, but until they can differentiate between a stream from a full album listen to people cherry picking a certain song, it is a trend that will continue for popular streaming albums.
  6. It is a big downturn but still far better than many other artist second album slumps. Emeli Sande for example.

I still don't get why to this day Glassheart has not been made available to stream in North America yet, especially with the Childish Gambino feature. Even Cheryl Cole's music is available over there now! I can't be the only one here that rates Sugar as one of Leona's best songs? I love her vocals on it and find the production really dramatic. It builds so well.

I had noticed that it wasn't stocked at all at my local HMV over Christmas, despite having a large area devoted to Christmas albums. They even had vinyl Mariah Merry Christmas but no Leona. Yay at OMS charting in Switzerland for the first time. I imagine it will start popping up in other charts in minor positions over the next few years as it starts getting more international playlist support and success on spotify globally.
  9. I always look forward to this thread coming out. Hadn't realised the Westlife comeback announcement even had an impact this year. Nice to see a surprise climber (at least for me). Shame to see Biffy and Paloma fall out the top 100, though not surprised about Susan Boyle.
  10. Calling it now - Budapest, Paradise & Shotgun His labels don't seem so keen to get George to push Hold My Girl with promo performances over the last couple months. Would love to see him perform HMG or something else for some variety. I am sure even George is getting a bit fed up singing Paradise & Shotgun over and over.
  11. Q3 definitely seems to be picking up with more mainstream artists releasing albums then after a string of singles in Q1 and 2. Q4 is very dominated still by the adult contemporary and legacy artists alongside the X Factor acts (though I imagine Simon Cowell/Syco will start changing tactics with their big acts not dominating the album charts like they used too). Little Mix were probably the biggest act that impact the singles market to release in Q4 this year.

I thought the Southampton city centre store had closed a few months back. Can’t think of another one in the city. Sad to see both Bristol branches on the list.

I know downloads are in steep decline but still great to see it sales position increasing year on year alongside the streaming position. Third most downloaded Christmas song in the week just finished. :cheer:
  14. On the contrary, the top 20 are all 500k+, more than plenty of number ones usually get in a day on a normal week. Christmas playlists are just being played excessively in comparison to the current non Christmas songs

Fantastic figures for Leona globally. Was hoping for a better position on Spotify but those figures aren’t anything to complain about. Merry Christmas to you all!

I noticed it was doing well on Spotify but didn’t realise it was so high in those countries. Shame OMS didn’t get the playlist placing in those countries that WW has got (at least I assume that is why it is so high).
  17. I can definitely see them amending the ACR streaming ratio for ‘archive’ songs. Doubt they will ever block them from charting as some have mentioned. Whole point of ACR is to stop songs cluttering the top 40 for weeks on end, not to prevent number ones etc entirely. Things like 3 Lions going number one are big stories for the OCC so they aren’t going to do anything that makes it impossible for campaign or archive songs to do well when they are massively popular.
  18. That could be said for the vast majority of hits so I don’t see where you are going with this point. Back to the topic, One More Sleep is not likely to overtake Bleeding Love anytime soon as Bleeding Love still does really well on streaming globally. It could/should overtake A Moment Like This and Run a few years down the line if it is a consistent annual seller. Hoping Sia can get another week top 40. Can’t see it doing so well when it eventually gets hit by the 3 year ACR rule.

Thanks for this Jay, much appreciated. So we are looking at potentially breaking 500k total sales (ignoring ACR) by the end of this week if her streams spikes over the next few days as it done the last few years!
  20. It is definitely more listenable than the nhs choir or any of those sorts of charity songs we have had in the past. Brits love a bit of novelty. Still going to have a large drop unless downloads stabilise as he has very little streaming propping him up.
  21. Ah, that makes much more sense. Still seems odd to put them all together when each one has different line ups, even if they all use the Band Aid name (with slight variations per release).
  22. Cher Dancing Queen please
  23. I have just seen on the new Australian singles chart, of the 4 Do They Know It’s Christmas versions, it is Band Aid 30 that has re-entered at #37! I am guessing the fact it is the most recent has helped it, but still surprised it is getting attention anywhere after how quick it dropped globally after release.
  24. Gwen Stefani also reached a new peak of 90 with You Make It Feel Like Christmas

I imagine it will climb for sure this week now we are within a few days of Christmas when OMS is streamed/downloaded the most on record.
