Genuinely do not see the appeal of that Kanye/Lil Pump song. It is pure trash. It's not even funny like Freaky Friday was.

Sadly, they amended the streamings rules earlier this regarding songs that are more than 3 years old. Unless they are being ‘actively promoted’ (basically ask the OCC to reset it), old songs cannot be taken off ACR, so will be on a streaming disadvantage to all the songs without their streaming figures halved.

Calvin/Dua did have Drake as competition tbf, but I agree this won’t debut at the top. Only the likes of Ed Sheeran, Drake and Adele (questionable now) can do that these days

I think it is fine as it is now with ACR. Will get very confusing with multiple degrees of ACR. It’s only mega hits that are managing to stay top 40 for long periods after going ACR. It’s only us chart fans that care about these lower positions so not really a justifiable move. You don’t want to completely eliminate the presence of these songs, especially if they are still massively popular. Plenty more songs are charting than there were before ACR and the charts aren’t so stagnant now, so ACR is doing its job.

This isn’t related to the video, but still Better In Time. The song has passed to 100,000,000 global streams mark this month on Spotify! :cheer: Considering it just missed the top 10 in the US and wasn’t a mega hit at the time (though still pretty respectable), the song has held up very well in the streaming era. To put it into perspective, the main version of Run is just under 43 million (though there is the single edit taking some streams away from this version) which was a much bigger hit on release.

Seems mad to me that Maroon 5 are still building and gaining new Spotify peaks so long after its release. Yay at Panic! :cheer:

Obama also used it as his campaign song when running for president I believe. Gave it a lot of free promo.

This top 60 only includes figures up to the end of June, whereas most of DMTM’s sales will Be from July and August. I imagine it would be in the top 25 at least if it included the last 2 months.

Really pleased Janet has managed to get a debut top 100 position. Can’t see it getting any higher unless radio supports it well, but would be nice to see it getting a few more weeks.

I suppose the positive is it does make the charts a bit more exciting where the number one isn’t a foregone conclusion. Also makes downloads a bit more important in determining a final position. I do hope we get some form of huge smash soon still. Lots of good music out but nothing outstanding as of late.

I am skeptical of the Billie Jean sales considering the figures released when they announced the millionaires. As of mid-September it was 1,095,919 combined, with 252,869 based on streaming. Struggling to see how it has picked up around 350,000 units between sept 17 and June 18, unless they have backdated video streams too. Even then, the streaming ratio should be much greater than 28%.

The top end streams have really dropped as of late. Shows we are in need of a big breakthrough song. Calvin/Sam and Jess' new ones are looking to be decent sized hits, but nothing to rival the success of God's Plan, One Kiss, Shotgun or In My Feelings at their peaks.

I imagine The Most Beautiful Girl In The World would be much higher if it was actually available to download/stream. Seems mad to me his only UK #1 is not available, even now the rest of it’s parent album is on streaming.

I have noticed the album has finally been discounted on iTunes (from £12.99 to £7.99), so can’t see it being absent from the top 10 for long.

I figured the BTS tracks was because this is more like a deluxe edition of the last album, so fans are just buying the new tracks. Wouldn't mind seeing Idol go top 40, just to have a k-pop act in the charts that isn't novelty.
