That’s a good jump for Panic! Really hope it scrapes top 40 this week.
  2. The electronic nature one is his own compilation including plenty of his own remixes, so no doubt trying to draw more people into viewing that. Closest thing to an album he has out so far.
  3. I imagine OK, Shotgun or This Is Me will all eventually overtake it before the year is out, let alone what else comes out in the next 6 months.

I don’t see how any result from this point on can be seen as embarrassing for England. Furthest we have got in years. Whatever happens the team can be pleased with what they have achieved. Don’t Matter To Me does seem to be dropping a bit now. Wouldn’t be surprised for it to be outside the top 10 come Friday. Will see how it recovers after the weekend effect (can’t imagine it being on many summer party playlists like One Kiss & Shotgun).

Being on ACR doesn’t prevent a song getting to number one still. Despacito still managed it. It’s getting great downloads which aren’t affected by ACR at all and it’s streaming figures, even when halved, are still brilliant. Definitely not something to be ruled out.

Fingers crossed. Would love to see them back in the charts and the new album is really good. Would love Hey Look Ma to blow up later this year.

Well unless this does huge numbers on CD singles, looks like it is going to bomb hard
  8. Exactly, it is one of the things that has made our chart so interesting in the past. Wouldn't have had great campaigns like the Rage Against The Machine one if this was around then, or songs like Don't Stop Believin' becoming a huge hit almost 30 years after release. At least it is just restricted to streaming so the songs can still have a decent impact if they get great sales, but still feels a bit off.
  9. Really don’t see the need for the 3 year rule. Here I was hoping Mariah might finally get AIWFCIY to #1 within the next few years.
  10. If we win it people would be raving about it for at least a month after to be fair. Not expecting to get that far so I think chart fans can relax a bit.
  11. It is on my Spotify, but I am a premium member. Probably another premium only release
  12. 100% expecting it to be #1 on iTunes tomorrow morning.

I definitely think that is the right decision in this case. Videos are very much a singles orientated form of music consumption, so not a good representation for how well an album is doing commercially. Really useful thread, I hadn't previously noticed the 12 track rule for albums. Definitely a good thing when you look at albums like Drake's which has double the number of tracks, what would be a huge streaming advantage over acts like Florence, if streams from all tracks contributed.

I guess it is good exposure for her, though doesn't give me confidence in how much focus is going into launching new music this year. Do we even have word on what label she will be releasing through yet?
  15. All depends how many people actually sign up for the service. Seems quite late to the game compared to established services like Spotify and Apple Music. Time will tell I guess, but I am not expecting a massive impact early on from this. Regarding its effect on dance music, I am hoping it will increase creativity in making striking visuals again. No one knew who Eric Prydz was before Call On Me, but the video established him. Same for Oliver Heldens Gecko which had a very memorable video, which I would say contributed a lot to it going to #1. I am looking forward to seeing how much impact adding videos and changing the ratios for premium and free streams will make. Wondering if they are going to backdate the sales from this year for the end of year chart to incorporate the changes, or if they will keep the first 6 months as they are.
  16. I am sure with videos like that, they would put them on a media outlet that would contribute to the chart, especially for award show performances like with Someone Like You, where the audio was officially released as a download.
  17. This is a month before the film is even out. The majority of people going to watch the film don’t follow new releases and only pay attention when the movie is out, or they hear the songs on radio. ABBA Gold and the Mamma Mia 1 soundtrack are already back in the album chart, so the demand is there. Whether a big hit comes from the film, probably not, but that’s not what the point of soundtracks like the Mamma Mia one.

Unless something big comes out Friday, I can see Shotgun getting 3-4 weeks rather than adding to the one week #1s
  19. Well at least this should encourage artists/labels to invest more in decent videos again. Definitely approve of the difference between premium and free streams, though it won’t make figuring out total sales any easier.
  20. I really don’t see the mass appeal for IYOM. All of the singles from the first album have been superior to the two we have had so far for this album.
  21. Yeah, I think it should at least match Adele. I imagine once Mamma Mia comes out that will be the end of its run, but time will tell. Mamma Mia probably won’t do so well on streaming in comparison to TGS.
  22. I see Shotgun is now 59p. Should be enough to get it to the top this week if it’s streams continue to build/stay consistent
  23. It is only 9.99 if you just go for the music service without the video so matches the big names like Spotify, Apple and deezer.

Yeah, I would say those two albums have been career defining for her. She has enough huge singles prior to those to cement her legacy as a singles artist. Those two albums gave her credibility to build a cohesive album, wheras her previous ones came across more as a collection of singles.

Yeah, clearly their demand for profit/maintaining their place in the market is more important than their own ethical values in this case. Spotify have put themselves in a position where they will get slated one way or another (as if they didn’t do anything considering the guy has died, the fans would be ripping into them). Apple were wise to keep silent on the whole matter
