That would be ideal. As you say, I can't see them opening up the full database without a serious cost attached. I don't imagine most people would care about the whole thing though and would just look a their fave acts, as they could put a limit on how many songs/discographies can be accessed per month, or when they are doing these top 10/20/40 lists, just provide sales for all items rather than a select few to those that subscribe. I am glad they are looking at shaking things up. Main thing for me is getting these ads in order as they are currently very disruptive to the experience when looking at anything on a mobile device.

I love the pirates reply track. A great listen in its own right unlike F.U.R.B. Which I find unlistenable now.

I am glad they are having more success beyond zitti e buoni and slave but don’t get what is special about this cover. Guessing Tiktok is helping it? Some great Italian material being ignored for anything in English.

There haven’t really been any bangers so far. She needs another bad guy, see me in a crown, Bury a friend etc between the softer tracks. Agreed. Slave is charting so well across Europe it would be a waste for them to not put out a video and give it a radio push at the very least. That good news if volume 2 is this year. Not sure how sustainable their success is but if they can get some additional material out that connects then while there is interest, they might be able to sustain beyond their winning year.

When new albums are struggling to get high peaks, the occ might do something like they did the singles. Until then, I don’t think they care. Could definitely do with a shake up though.

Anyone know why multiple Marvin Gaye albums have popped up in the midweeks? Good start for the Eurovision songs. Based on Spotify, looks like we might actually have a few that stay in the top 75-100.

You only have to look at Ladbaby to show people will get behind campaigns. People are obviously aware of charts but what made official #1 is not a big thing to the general public. Even with things like blur vs oasis, it was about campaigns. If you look at people monitoring charts week on week without listening just for one artist the numbers are small which is what I got from bjork’s comments. There definitely has been a drop in icons and big artists that would encourage fan campaigns and I think that is down to oversaturation in the market. Hard for new artists to breakthrough with so much competition and ways you have to try reach people (YouTube, Spotify, Apple, social media + all the classic avenues). Great new music and artists are out there, just harder to stand out and build a major fan base. Looking forward to seeing where the weeknd, griff & rag’n’bone man end up.

Yeah, I definitely recall it being on tv/radio circulation. As you say, no physical release I am aware of so was relying on downloads only late into the album campaign. At the time I know a number of post album singles just had digital releases. Nelly Furtado’s Say It Right being one of the most successful of that period.

I am glad to see DJ Khaled isn’t getting a default high peak peak because of features. Looking like Montero will be #1 again if Billie can’t get past it and Body isn’t having the same impact on Apple. Would be interesting to see where the three are with Amazon.
