Love that Toxic and Baby both reached new certifications on same day! Will have to check but think Toxic is selling at a faster rate, sure it’ll be many years with 600k difference but wonder when Toxic will overtake.
At least looking at certification dates, Baby's 3x platinum certification was 8 November 2019, so it took over 5 years to do 600k, compared to the 2 years and just under 10 months for Toxic. Applying the same rates again would have Toxic overtake in just over 5.5 years.
If Baby was only at 2 million in Aug 2022 as LoveMeDown noted, then that would show a big upturn in streams for Baby over the last 2 years, but think it still works out as Toxic gaining more per month. Will take a lot longer for Toxic to overtake though.
Hoping we will get Hold Me Closer platinum before the end of the year.

And they are very slow at adding in BPI certs from previous weeks, when you search for an artist.
For example,
The Beatles All my loving from 23rd August not visible when you search on The Beatles. It displays Help from 2nd August. 4 newer certs are missing.
Yeah, everything certified from 16th August currently doesn't show up if you search for the song or artist, but is visible if you search by the date period. This seems to be a recurring problem the website has these days and they have updated for similar issues earlier in the year. This does seem like quite a long date period for the BPI to have not put a fix in place yet still. Hopefully after this next update, the search feature will be up to date as well.
Great to see from the certifications announced on twitter that Sk8ter Boi is now 2 x platinum. :cheer:

So we finally have the full studio version of what is the new intro song for the current season of The View! Obviously won't do anything chart wise, but great to hear Leona on this kind of track. Would love to hear some more uplifting tracks like this when we finally get the album she has been working on.

Going to give it a few more listens, but definitely struggling to get into a lot of the new remixes at this point. Respect to Charli for pushing the boundaries here, as she could have easily just put a feature on each track without any real creativity behind the project. A number of these sound completely different to the original.
360 vs. 360 (featuring robyn & yung lean) - remix is great but wouldn't choose it over the original.
Club classics vs. Club classics (featuring bb trickz) - not really a fan of either tbh
Sympathy is a knife vs. Sympathy is a knife (featuring ariana grande) - really struggling to get into the remix. The chorus was what made this song for me, so
I might say something stupid vs. I might say something stupid (featuring the 1975 & jon hopkins) - the new version might grow on me, but that first minute has way too much white noise for me to really get into this. Only gets going in the last minute.
Talk talk vs. Talk talk (featuring troye sivan) - the remix is soo much better than the original for me.
Von dutch vs. Von dutch (a. g. cook remix featuring addison rae) remix is so good though
Everything is romantic vs. Everything is romantic (featuring caroline polachek)
Rewind vs. Rewind (featuring bladee)
So I vs. So I (featuring a. g. cook)
Girl, so confusing vs. Girl, so confusing (featuring lorde) - as others have said, this was a cultural reset moment.
Apple vs. Apple (featuring the japanese house) - funnily enough this might be one of the top remixes for me but I just love the original so much it would have taken something special to top that.
B2b vs. B2b (featuring tinashe) - Would love this to get time in the limelight.
Mean girls vs. Mean girls (featuring julian casablancas) - charli's warped vocals on the remix actually ruin this for me. Julian sounds great though.
I think about it all the time vs. I think about it all the time (featuring bon iver) - This is the emotional moment of the album for me rather than IMSSS.
365 vs. 365 (featuring shygirl)
Guess vs. Guess (featuring billie eilish)
10 - 5 split here for me. Will see if I still feel that way in a week.

I was expecting the new song to build up to something more as it sounded so great in the beginning. The chorus is really limp.
Agreed, really underwhelming compared to where I thought it was going to go. Hopefully the rest of the album is stronger than this and Dizzy, but not holding my breath. I really enjoyed A Very Bad Fun Idea so hoping there will be more like that.

I would say it has been one of the better years since streaming was incorporated, in particular the first six months.
The top 20 has definitely suffered this summer, but not much the charts can do when we are dealing with a number of huge hits which aren't waning in popularity.
I am more interested in the lower end of the chart these days as a lot more new entries and usually where a lot of the viral hits start off. In the last four weeks alone, I have counted 30 new entries (8 of these top 40 on week one), so definitely not stale as you move away from the top end.

It's probably been mentioned already, but I can't unhear how much Nirvana sounds like Double Trouble chorus from the Will Ferrell Eurovision movie.
Hoping Wonder does get to have the single treatment if the label won't have given up on funding the campaign anymore. Agree with the comments on this being the sort of theme Katy should have focused on for this album.

I was expecting a lot worse after reading some of the comments in this thread, but I didn't find the album too bad. Definitely agree this is Katy's 'Britney Jean' in that most of the songs sound alright on their own, but very little actually feels like Katy was who the song was meant for, so it isn't very cohesive.
The second half of the album is much better than first part IMO, with Lifetimes to Artificial being pretty solid for me. Gimme Gimme was truly awful for me though and almost made me give up on the album. Cringeworthy lyrics. :puke2:

Some interesting certifications this week! Love seeing Janet getting a new certification. Hopefully the UK tour dates result in some other tracks getting a boost.
Agree with the sentiments of What The Hell going platinum seeming weird. Based on Avril's certifications, I make that her 4th biggest song here ahead of songs like I'm With You and When You're Gone which I would have thought of as more well remembered.
Aaliyah getting her 4th single certification is great to see. Wasn't expecting it to be Back & Forth, but admittedly don't know how well it sold on initial release + it has the benefit of being on the one album that was available to download/stream well before the rest of her catalogue was made available.
Also hadn't realised Kate Bush's Army Dreamers had gone viral this year. Suppose it is quite fitting given the state of the world right now.
