That might be the worst A-list I’ve seen in a while - at least half the songs there I have no interest in. That Luke Dean song is a bit of a tune though.

Really enjoying ‘Happier’, Clementine’s vocals are stunning (as per).

Tough choice between Charlotte Plank and The Blessed Madonna but the former just edges it. NERO in the tiebreak.

I think the Hot Recurrents list has always been there (as others have already said). Previously, you’d still hear some A-list songs recently removed from the playlist maybe once every one/two days so I think this is just the same. Does Dua Lipa really need 11 straight weeks on the A-list? Pleasantly surprised to see The Blessed Madonna as TOTW.

The Diplo saga still baffles me to this day…

A good week for Sonny Fodera! Now that they’ve added ‘Homesick’, I wonder if they’ll ditch ‘Stick Season’ while it’s still No.1? I believe it’s only two weeks away from matching the record for longest run on the playlist at 16 weeks?

Gone for Shygirl but also enjoying Wilkinson, Nia Archives and Becky Hill.

Christ, that might be the most boring update ever

She’s just not missing at the minute - another banger Intrigued by the SG Lewis collab

Arielle Free had this as her Tune of the Week last week which was the first time I heard it but I’m enjoying it a lot.

+12 - Peggy Gou - (It Goes Like) Nanana +10 - Calvin Harris x Ellie Goulding - Miracle +8 - Sub Focus feat. AR/CO - Vibration (One More Time) +7 - Dimension feat. Poppy Baskcomb - Where Do We Go +6 - Chase & Status x Stefflon Don - Selecta +5 - Issey Cross - Bittersweet Goodbye +4 - Becky Hill x Chase & Status - Disconnect +3 - Chase & Status x Clementine Douglas - Say The Word +2 - Chase & Status x Hedex x ArrDee - Liquor & Cigarettes +1 - Nathan Dawe x Joel Corry x Ella Henderson - 0800 Heaven Thanks Dan for putting this together throughout the year!

A Little Sound still hanging on in there! I wish they just moved it up for a couple weeks. Surprised Olivia wasn’t A-listed. Yesss for Shygirl - hopefully she doesn’t stall on the C-list.

Hopefully Greg having Shygirl as TOTW is a sign she’ll be added soon!

Echo the comments on Confidence Man, really no need to remove them so soon. I also thought they would be moving up the playlist this week. They might as well have just put ‘exes’ back on the A-list this week seeing as they shouldn’t have ditched it in the first place.

+12 - Shygirl, Cosha - thicc +10 - Chase & Status, Stefflon Don - Selecta +8 - Chase & Status, Clementine Douglas - Say The Word +7 - venbee, DJ Ss - rampage +6 - Kenya Grace - Only In My Mind +5 - Justin Mylo, Karen Harding - Rescue Me +4 - Switch Disco - VACANCY +3 - Marlon Hoffstadt - I Got You +2 - PNAU, Empire of the Sun - AEIOU +1 - The Knocks, Sofi Tukker - One On One

All the songs on that list were A-listed I believe.

‘Welcome to the DCC’ went [C-B-A-A-A-A-A] ‘Overcome’ went [C-B-B-B-A-A-A-A] So the latter got an extra week on the playlist, but IIRC the former was re-added for the Big Weekend playlist which lasted 11 days.

It’s not like they’re struggling to make room on the playlist either, there’s a few songs on the A-list that should’ve been dropped ahead of ‘exes’.

That A-list needs a good clear out in the new year! I did think Madison Beer might have been A-listed this time around, but I wasn’t expecting Barry Can’t Swim or venbee to climb there too. Regarding the TOTW, last year they had the Hottest Record of the Year as TOTW so if there is one this weekend then it’ll be Nothing But Thieves - Welcome to the DCC. Makes sense not to put that on the website though with the playlist spanning three weekends.

Fred again.. was also played on Life Hacks so I’m pretty certain he’s the TBC

It’s been teased for a while but not sure if it was officially announced until late in the week?

Re the TBC: Fred again.. & Baby Keem were played in Katie’s show today (not showing on the BBC Sounds app, it was the fourth song I believe). Also ‘greedy’ played three times today, looks like they have ditched ‘exes’ which is just bizarre.

Outside shout that the TBC is Fred again & Baby Keem? I certainly wouldn’t be surprised to see Fred again getting instant support. Great to see Chase & Status added. I’m fairly sure removing ‘exes’ is a mistake on the websites part.

This is really good, much better than ‘Only In My Mind’

Yay for A Little Sound, though I am a bit surprised they’re getting behind this when it doesn’t look like becoming even a small hit - yes that’s not the only factor but with commercial dance songs they don’t tend to get on board until it’s in the chart. Arielle and Dean/Vicky had her as TOTW though so I’m assuming the song got a good reaction hence why it’s here. The playlist in general is looking very bloated at the minute and it’s likely to only get worse heading into the new year, it’s times like these when I think of the playlist in Jan 2022 when the A-list had several songs on for 10 weeks plus. Bring Me The Horizon not making the A-list must be a rarity?
