Still going strong this week!

On Danny L Harle, ‘Crystallise My Tears’ was Hottest Record in November so hopefully there is some playlist support for the album coming up. Though saying that, Gorillaz have had a few Hottest Records the past year and I don’t think any were playlisted.

‘who’s your boyfriend’ did get seven weeks on the playlist, but didn’t make the A-list. I agree it’s better than ‘moody’. I’d be here for ‘say something’ getting a push after they’re done with ‘moody’.

Pleased to see those three songs move to the A-list, but yes I’m surprised at Royel Otis. That Sub Focus song is such a tune. Shame ’Talk of the Town’ is off. I know ‘Stateside’ is only starting to get big now, but 13 weeks (or 14 really with the two week playlist) is mad.

Never been that fussed on Arlo Parks but this is really good.

‘Espresso’ was insta added to the B-list, which I was quite surprised about as the time. Shows what I know…

Yeah it happened to ‘MASC’ in 2024. The most recent example was Lorde’s ‘Shapeshifter’.

That Diplo run is still the most bizarre thing.

Couple of very premature removals for Romy and EsDeeKid, especially when you see some very long runners on the A-list.

I’d have thought (and hoped) Holly Humberstone would be A-listed, hopefully there’s still time. As you say, this time of year is probably the most likely for more unusual songs to reach the A-list.

It made sense to freeze it the last few years when they did anthems between Christmas and New Year.

Would make sense for this playlist to last the next two weeks, seeing as Christmas music will eat up most of the plays for this week.

Now you’ve mentioned ‘Gasoline’, I’m pretty sure it’s that.

Oh a Calvin one was only earlier this year: ‘Smoke The Pain Away’.

‘Celestial’ is the only potential one I can think of. Either that or a song from ‘=‘ later in 2022.

I believe last year they also had the playlist initially listed as just a week before alternating it, so it’s up in the air!

I wasn’t expecting ‘moody’ to be the next push. It was released in May(!), before ‘car’ and ‘who’s your boyfriend’ were released. I think it’s the weakest of the three, but still good nonetheless. How that boring David Guetta song is still on there I’ll never know. Good add for Sub Focus - I’m glad they’ve chose ‘Elevate’ rather than ‘Entwined’. Worth noting that there aren’t anthem shows between Christmas and New Year, it looks like ‘normal’ shows. So I reckon we’ll get one more playlist next week.

For me, ‘Talk of the Town’ is the best thing Fred again has done since ‘Delilah’ so pleased to see it A-listed. That Inhaler track is great too!

Fred again is so hit and miss for me, but this one is such a banger.

I really hate the Alvin and the Chipmunks vocal on ‘Entwined’. ‘So Many Colours’ and ‘Elevate’ are my favourites from the new tracks.

There are a couple of examples of B-list songs getting recurrent plays. Recently, ‘Dial Drunk’ has been getting played even though it was only on the playlist for 4(?) weeks (it went C-B-B-B if I remember, as I thought it was a surprisingly short run at the time).

Feels like it’s been a while since a song moved up after three weeks on the C-list. Nice to see Royel Otis still hanging in there, though surely this is their last week. Hoping Holly Humberstone will end up on the A-list.

A swift add to the Radio 1 playlist!

I love this. If I were ranking the three so far, I’d go: Starlight Crystallise My Tears Azimuth It’s a seriously high bar though!
