Friday Chart Predictions
Wow at Mariah being no.4, given how its holding its ground on Spotify at the moment I actually think this or another xmas song does have a shot at the xmas no.1 this year. Will be interesting to see how the x factor song does as if they combine both the versions its outselling ed 2-1 at the moment on downloads. Hoping it doesn't make it to no.1 even though I'm not keen on Perfect. Whilst I detest the x factor and its role in single handedly ruining the xmas chart for over a decade, its a little refreshing to see original winners singles rather than hashing out a lazy soppy/awful cover ballads.

Ah ok fair enough just baffled me for a moment.

Christmas Number One Single - Odds
Aye that is true and if Mariah or George do get there it may well be the week afterwards. Still, even though I'm really not keen on Perfect (think its one of his worst songs) its nice to see a big name actually making a bid for Xmas no.1 with a normal song. Will be interesting to see if this trend continues now the X Factor has lost its selling power in recent years.

Christmas Number One Single - Odds
Looks like an interesting battle could erupt between Ed and Mariah/George Michael for Xmas no.1. Last year If I remember rightly the no.1 song at Christmas was having 800k of streams? Given AIWFCIY is on 490k already I think it will easily surpass 1 million on a daily basis by the time if gets to Christmas. But If they are combining Perfect then that my well have similar streams, plus downloads.

Friday Chart Predictions
How are they justifying merging the merging of Perfect, they are two separate versions. They never merged Sam Smith's Lay Me Down when it was released featuring John Legend?

Christmas No1 Album
Not that I'm aware of it seems to be a guarded secret still.

Christmas No1 Album
Yeah now theres a potential release from Eminem on the cards I reckon he could have a very good shout at taking the no.1. He'll have decent streaming figures should he allow for it to be on Spotify.

Friday Chart Predictions
Maybe Taylor may end up doing better than I originally thought this week. Seems she's taking the Adele route by not releasing it straight to Spotify. Quite surprised at how Sams sales seem to have collapsed I thought he would have had a bit more consistency. Gradually beginning to like Rita's new one, can actually see this being a potential contender for xmas no.1 in a few weeks.

Friday Chart Predictions
I can see Sam's sales holding up very consistently this week, I reckon he'll clear 100k easily. Have the streaming figures been added does anyone know? as given he's still climbing up spotify with the album tracks, he may have between 15-20k of streaming sales to add by the end of the week imho. I think people will be surprised at Taylors sales next week, I reckon she'll struggle to clear 100k given how LWYMMD flopped. Her last album only opened with 90k and that was with a massive lead single. Sam's TGAG I wouldn't say was no.1 just based of hype like Taylor, its consistently held ground since its release.

Christmas No1 Album
Hard to call really, Sam Smith will sell consistently well as he's had a far reach of appeal with his previous music. I reckon the top three will feature, Ed, Sam and Alife and Michael but could easily be any of them. X managed to have huge sales off the back of TOL but given that was his breakout appeal to a wider audience and was on the level of SOY success wise, I'm not sure if Perfect will manage the same impact. I can't see Taylor really being a challenge if her singles/buzz songs are anything to go by but think she'll easily be top 10. She's never been that big in the UK for starters and LWYMMD hasn't exactly been a massive hit like SIO or BS were.

Friday Chart Predictions
Glad to see Camila looking to hopefully knock that absolute tripe that is rockstar off no.1, never though it was going to do this well the first time I heard it. Not sure if it will manage to stay ahead so think it could be a close one. Rockstar is still ahead on streaming. Really starting to like Marshmallow, hope it stays top 3 and is able to eventually creep to no.1 at some stage.

When should streaming have been included in the chart?
I think early 2014 would have been better rather than having it halfway through the year. Streaming was barely contributing to the chart back when it was first introduced so I think the OCC did well adding it when they did. The only issue is how they've introduced ACR and created a meaningless chart that doesn't represent anything anymore and a set of rules they don't seem to follow half the time.

Affected positions due to 300:1 ratio
Out of interest is there a way of seeing how the singles chart would look without ACR whatsoever?

The UK's Official Chart 'millionaires' revealed
Not seen it anywhere but in case anyone is interested. Shape Of You is now on 3 million units and the first song, I think, to be certified 5 x platinum. Not sure if Band Aid and Elton Johns songs ever were certified beyond platinum.

Can P!nk get her second number one album next week?
I put 100k+ haha. Given how Liam managed to storm it with not having had half the singles chart success I think she will surprise everyone this week. Might realistically end up between 70-90k but I would not be surprised to see it higher.

Game: Spice Girls - The Group Singles Rate! - The Results!
Just catching up with the results. Can't believe Wannabe was as low as #8 I knew it wouldn't be top but not that low! Absolute timeless classic that if it were released today it wouldn't sound too out of place. The song being no.1 for weeks is one of my first memories of the charts, in fact it was the Spice Girls's that developed my interest in the charts in the first place. Love Wannabe though, used to find the zig a zig ahh hilarious at the time  still easily my favourite by a mile. Too Much is one of those that I loved at the time but always slightly preferred 2 become 1 for its big bold sound. Over the years though this has massively grown on me, so much so its now my second favourite behind Wannabe. Such a smooth classy sounding song. Especially love Geri and Mel C's lines, I think the song definitely suited their vocals. As some have said the use in the film was very much on point. Viva Forever is a brilliantly crafted pop song but really does summarise the mood and heartbreak of Geri leaving the group at the time. I remember being distraught when Geri left as she was by far my favourite, the video I never liked either as it just made me sad watching it at the time, for these reasons Im not overly keen on it. Who Do You Think You Are and the Brits, just love watching that performance! I vaguely remember watching it on telly at the time but remember more the impact it had afterwards in the media coverage and Geri's other eyebrow raising dress  Although I liked it at the time, really not found of Mama at all now I think If U Cant Dance would be been a brilliant double A side to the song. A good showcase of how phenomenal they were at the time, the screaming of the fans carrying on well into the song. Think the only time the Brits has created such a media storm following a performance since then, that I remember is Adele.

Sounds Like Friday Night
I personally think this is good idea having a new music show thats not on all the time and will hopefully have some diversity of genres. The problem I think with TOTP was that it was on every week, the format of the show didn't change very much and remained corny and cheesy with people miming to their current hits, people grew tired of, it I know I did and I was still a teenager when it was cancelled.

US Billboard 200 - 10/21/2017
Amazing to see Shania topping both the UK and US album charts simultaneously. Think this is the first time she's managed that feat given Come On Over somehow never got to no.1 in the states.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 6th October 2017
Noel's version of "She Bangs" is probably the best song he's churned out in the entire of his solo career. Don't want to like it as I cant stand the bloke but its super catchy.

The UK's Official Chart 'millionaires' revealed
I must admit it that Shape Of You's sales are probably fairly inflated from repeat listening, although it did have the stormzy version added to its totals which the OCC have never done as far as I'm aware for any other songs that have a remix/different version (aka Florence & Dizzze Rascal, Sam Smith) but for some reason they bent the rules for SOY. Anyway the ratios they have, especially the 300:1 ratio, are just a chart manipulation rule because record labels are not happy they cant force something to no.1 like the "good old days". So it would be pointless trying to accrue sales from that point, even though I can see what you mean, it just illustrates how much of a mess the singles chart is on a weekly basis at the moment. Also music week have updated some of this years biggest hits. SOY is now on 2.95 million units, with Despacito on 2 million with Symphony also passing the 1 million units mark. http://www.musicweek.com/talent/read/q3-sa...for-2017/070033

Friday Chart Predictions
Was hoping Wolf Alice would nab the no.1 album as I wasn't expecting Shania to do that well, given the singles have been a flop and its been such a gap between albums. But now she's aiming for no.1 I'd love her to snatch it, she looks like achieving the same feat stateside. Amazing for someone who's been absent for 15 years and a country-pop act at that.

Is the singles chart better for you with the new rules
Having let it play out a few weeks I'm still not fond of the new rules. Granted its nice to see more movement but it takes the merit out of songs managing new peaks at the expensive of a more popular song being penalised and doesn't really represent a chart of any means. It's made a few more songs go top 10 but I don't feel its made a massive change, the no.1 single most weeks would have been there without ACR being in place. I do think there's more fair ways of making a more fluid moving chart but these rules are just a mess and are the occ caving into the whining of the record labels some of which are just not impressed they can't manipulate the chart the way they have done for the past 20 odd years. I won't go into it too much as I feel I've ranted about it loads of times, but if they did base streams off individual accounts / family accounts ect and put a permanent cap in place, that would probably have the same affect as ACR but it would be applied to all songs and create a fair playing field. It would have stopped songs like SOY being no.1 for 14 weeks but given it massive sales for the first, maybe second week. Also it could be used as a more effective tool of measuring track equivalent sales from streaming as it wouldn't be taking into account the repetitive listening, which in all fairness the way the occ have it currently does eliminate some of that but not entirely. Again something a lot have complained about not just in the millionaires thread but also on the comments on the occ website about the news story.
