Woop! Bastille going for a new peak. Hope they can make the top 10 but their streams are lagging too much for that yet I think

Adding airplay would be a terrible idea we'd have songs being no.1 for an average of 5-6 weeks probably longer and they would be more stagnant then they are now. I must admit they are kind of boring at how slow they have been the past month but then again there's not exactly tons of killer hits or big songs that have been released during that time so people have kept listening to the same stuff. The music industry itself has gone rather stale and boring and has been for the past couple of years and the charts reflect that imo. I think with regards to streaming that it should be counted differently where its based on individual peoples streams so when someone streams a song 100 times it then no longer counts towards the chart as thats equal to one sale. The problem with that is I guess it would take most people weeks to reach that milestone so sales would be more spread out over a longer period.

Boy Band: Never Forget/ Back For Good - Take That & Everybody (Backstreet's Back) Backstreet Boys Girl Group: Wannabe/Say You'll Be There/ Too Much - Spice Girls Hard to distinguish between the three Spice Girls songs but they are the three best imo. Same with the boy bands.

Hoping that Bastille can nab the no.1 this week but its not flying up iTunes at the moment which doesn't give me much hope.

Glad All I Ask has took off. I think its the standout track on the Album for me and thought it would do well if it had a decent exposure or pushed as a single. Unless she performs it at The Brits I doubt it will stay in the top 10 for long.

Interesting Spice Girls have the biggest selling "normal" Christmas No.1. Shows how much of a phenomenon they were at the time and without the exposure X Factor gave the awful winner singles. Only Adele could come close to generating such massive first week sales for a new single, even more impressive was the fact the album shifted a similar amount the week :o Anyway back to this week, I really hope Justin Bieber holds on as no offence to the NHS song it would be so refreshing to not have a charity campaign or X Factor related song be no.1 at Christmas for a change its been over 10 years since it last happened. I have a feeling they may just bag it though. EDIT: Just seen the iTunes thread. Think they have it in the bag now 70% lead over Justin

Yeah I'd have to agree the 2000 Christmas Chart was one of the best just to see Westlife fail for the first time as they were being incredibly smug about having just had 7 no.1s in a row and beating the Spice Girls in the Album chart so to see them fail to get to no.1 was brilliant made even more better because they were very sore losers. Also in general the Christmas chart that year was very competitive loads of hype and just loved the build up. I'd be interested to know the sales from the top 10 from that year. I also loved the build up to the 2003 Christmas chart however i was throughly disappointed when the Darkness lost but it was still a great chart battle and I think its the last time we had a proper traditional christmas chart battle that wasn't a campaign of some sort against the X Factor.

I think the X Factor took the bloom off the significance of having a Christmas #1 a long time ago. Nobody really cares anymore as its always a foregone conclusion, last year was the first time a normal song actually came within a chance of winning. Also I think since downloads/spotify really took off artists have been trying to cash in on the gift card effect so are releasing songs around Christmas with the knowledge that it'll probably go to no.1 in the new year and will have larger sales due to people having money to spend on buying just music. That's partly what made the Christmas #1 such a big thing before as it was the time of year single and albums sales would go through the roof so everybody released songs to capitalise on the inflated sales. But anyway interesting that its struggling so much this year and I'm glad it is. Its about time that a normal song outsells it just from its popularity alone, for once I'm rooting for Justin Bieber to win this week

I reckon with the right exposure HONNE could be quite popular next year and really hope they are. They sound very much like if Sam Smith & Disclosure did a full album together with a hint of 80's thrown in for good measure. Warm on a cold night is just flawless!

I wonder what the next highest cherry picked song from 25 will be. All I Ask will be a killer of a single if its ever picked. I can see When We Were Young dropping off as the week progresses. Also with Hello I think its performed pretty well, not sure it will sell a million downloads but with Christmas coming up if its performed anywhere I'll keep fairly steady sales. But also Hello will become her 6th consecutive single to be sell 600K+ of downloads, across three albums. I think the Spice Girls may have been the last act to have 6 consecutive singles sell over 600k which just shows how amazing her success has been.

Come on Macklemore & Ryan Lewis! Hopefully they'll break the top 20 this week, they've been steadily rising on Spotify all week and reached a new iTunes peak of 13 now after fluctuating between 24 and 14 the last two weeks. Have my fingers crossed it'll eventually break the top 10

Mumford up to no.6 :o quite surprised at its gradual accent, hopefully it can keep on going :D no.44 on the daily spotify chart after one day, if it can climb during the rest of the week they may possibly go top 20 perhaps. I can see Sam Smith bagging the no.1 this week, with Y&Y at no.2 and Florida at 3. Much prefer the version he released prior to In The Lonely Hour which isn't as slow and dreary but i would rather he be no.1 than Florida.

Is the new Mumford & Sons song chart eligible? Fantastic to see them Top 10 on iTunes, would be brilliant to see them finally nab a top 10 hit.

Is Royal Blood's Figure It Out in the top 75 anywhere? Really hoping they can sneak into the top 40 for the first time, as it in the top 30 on both spotify and iTunes. Even thought they won best band at the Brits I still think they are still a very underrated band, hopefully their album sales will remain fairly healthy for a few weeks. Oh and get in for James Bay finally reaching the top 10 never thought it would get popular enough in any given week to get there after its release 3 months ago.

Amazing its stormed to no.1 in a very short space of time, very happy that it has its the best song thats come out in a long time, of the year I'd almost go as far to say. Dread to think how much it would have sold in its first week if it had been held back for another month, it already had a healthy number of pre-orders plus the gift card effect would have added some extra sales. I think it would have easily done 200k+ if its original release date had been kept. Shame it won't beat X Factor, but I really hope it does it would be great to see them finally get beaten good and proper by an actual popular track.

This album has grown on me. I like more tracks on this album than his last three albums, if some of it had been combined with Take The Crown it would have made for one of his best albums. If you removed, Be a Boy Different Sh** On The Radio Hey Wow blah blah And added H.E.S The Edge The Pilot National Treasure With Surrender as extra bonus I reckon it would have made a brilliant album.

I think Bully, H.E.S, The Edge and Bullet are my favs from this. Sounds like a lot of material that was meant for the TTC album, though All Climb On sounds like his very early stuff. Nice mixed bag though, not bad for a collection of songs that didn't make an album. Will be interesting to see if there's a vol. 2 and how that sounds.

Just downloaded the mp3 version, so far not too bad. Like Raver, H.E.S is my favourite so far but only on The Climb. Apparently according to wikipedia, the album sold 211,000 copies last week off his website which would have, if was able to chart beat TT to no.1. However this is wikipedia soI'm taking this with a large pinch of salt.

I think they'll still manage around 300K and sell around 150k-200k every week for the rest of the year. Robbie managed 100k+ for three weeks I think during the Xmas period last year and that was without any real success on the singles chart. I think Robbie and Jason leaving will dent their sales a bit overall but it'll easily do 1 - 1.5 Million I reckon.

They are finally no.1 on iTunes but I think it will be short-lived with Swift catching up fast. But this battle is going down to the wire, If they managed to pull a decent amount ahead of BA during the next couple of days they might just do it. Would be a interesting mid-week chart to look back on if they do, as they started out ahead, fell behind and now have the prospect of taking back the no.1 again, don't think i've seen the top end of the singles chart be this close all week.

Go on Take That! Really hope they can nab a 12th no1 at last it's well overdue for them, still going to be too close to call this weekend unless they really pull ahead tomorrow and Saturday.

Don't understand all the hate for it but I really like Jealous I think its one of his better ones, along with beneath your beautiful, although express yourself is my favourite of his. Earthquake I think is one of his worst, its just boring and was rather un-inspiring at the time and to me just seemed like an attempt at pass out part 2. Really hoping TT somehow overthrow Band Aid this week but I knew it was a bit of a long shot, they'll walk their way to no1 with the album i'm sure.

May have underestimated its performance doing fantastically well will be interesting to see its sales in the mid-weeks, wonder if it can be no.1 by tomorrow that would be an impressive feat. Reckon this should hold onto the no.1 spot until xmas week and with a bit of luck take that week at no.1 as well from X-Factor, but something tells me Simon will probably donate money from the winners single to the cause as well, not that its a bad thing but I would rather this be no.1 at christmas than the usual cheap tacky cover version that is the winners single.
