Nice to see Gaga and Bruno climbing, decent boost in numbers too, perhaps being added to HH helped but it’s been climbing on Apple steadily too since the weekend. Hope they can gain more ground the next few days to snatch that top 10. It’s doing really well stateside, No.4 and No.1 on Spotify and Apple Music respectively.

Loving that Chappel is taking off, her album is really growing on me at the moment. Also it’s great to see an album taking off organically, hopefully it can follow stick seasons success earlier in the year. I hope HTG and RWS both manage to break into the top 10/20 at some point.

Yes at Hot To Go finally breaking into the top 50. I really hope this continues to take off over the next few weeks. My favourite off the album although RWS is a close second.

Wow at Sabrina, she’s looking good for a second No1 next week if this holds up. Glad to see Chappell rising with RWS and HTG, the latter is so catchy does give me Hot and Cold vibes.

Rank Eminem's #1s
I feel like my finger slipped when picking my favourite. Godzilla sounds better than I remember, but it’s his comedy rap that I personally love about Eminem although Stan and Lose Yourself are epic. 1. Without Me (one of the few rap songs I know nearly every line to) 2. Lose Yourself 3. Stan 4. Real Slim Shady 5. Smack That (It’s surprising this is his only feature credit No1). 6. Monster 7. Houdini 8. Godzilla 9. Just Lose It 10. Like Toy Soldiers 11. River (I can barely remember how this goes).

It’s odd as I’ve not had espresso for weeks (not that auto play kicks in much for me) it’s been solidly billie every time for me personally. I might be wrong but I do wonder if it’s down to your listening habits to an extent as I’ve been listening to a lot of Lana or indie stuff lately, which Billies sounds closer to in comparison. Not saying there’s some payloa there but I do think it’s kind of linked to your music trends/habits to some extent.

Billies streams have been a bit odd the last few days. I wonder if Sabrina has had a rebound following radio 1s big weekend or it could be the usual reasoning, that said Billie was coming out for me all weekend on autoplay. Shame though I thought she was going to climb up this week. I wouldn’t rule out stick season actually getting a second wind itself come the autumn given that’s when the song refers to. Plus isn’t it already ahead of where flowers was this time last year sales wise? And flowers did what 1.5/6 million units by year end?

I can’t help but think billie might get a streaming resurgence in the next week, it’s incredibly catchy. Sabrina seems to also be coming down too compared to the last few weeks. This year really has been a standout year for me, I think 2019 was the last time we had a run of fairly big hits during the spring and summer. I honestly think country and folk having a moment this year has been the biggest impact though, it’s created much more variety than we’ve had in a long time genre wise and it’s probably been more appealing to the masses than the dance/house/rap dominance we’ve had for a good 6 years or so now.

Brilliant opening for billie, I suspected too 3 for lunch but its streams are a little higher than I thought they would be. Would be great for it to challenge espresso but at the same time I’m not too bothered. I don’t think personally auto-play is having the big impact some think, it’s extremely catchy and summer vibed tune which has timed perfectly with the weather so I think it’s a big hit in its own right. I think a lot of it is down to the music you are listening to as Spotify often tries to match with your most recent listening habits, I haven’t heard it once from auto play this week and that’s from me listening to 00s pop music and it just suggested other 00s pop.

Yeah I get the feeling she will make a fairly decent splash. I reckon a top 3 debut for lunch potentially?

Yeah I would say it’s modern country pop, doesn’t sound that different to Morgan’s recent hits and I’d argue most modern country pop is quite similar in sound these days. Tbh I think the line between country, pop and other genres is more blurred these days anyway.

Blimey I can’t believe post and Morgan have gone straight in at no1 even more baffling it’s pulled those numbers, that’s insane. Could be on for a 2nd country no1 hit this year. This year is utterly mad for the number of songs that have taken off I’d say we’ve had the equivalent of the last two years combined and it’s only May. There’s been plenty of songs in recent weeks which if they’d been standalone hits last year and 2022 would have easily have spent 7-8 weeks at no.1 if not more.

Predict: Taylor Swift - The Tortured Poets Department
Ah I see, although I would like to think she probably will do a physical release at some point if it’s not in the week. Either way it’s going to have phenomenal sales and personally I’m more interested in her US figures as I think they will just be utterly insane (not that it won’t be very impressive UK wise).

Predict: Taylor Swift - The Tortured Poets Department
I think given the double album and if this is being released physically too then perhaps 300k is not out the question this week and I still think she’ll get the no1 single and it might be physicals get it there (if streaming doesn’t). The US I honestly think 3 million is quite likely now, she’s going to be gunning for that record I’d have thought given the insane pre-orders.
-
Streaming Services Swift Discussion
I thought in the US it was 16 tracks for the album tracks and had been from the start? I’m probably wrong though, I do agree though there’s no need for it really. Surprised at the double album but I thought she’d throw some new variant out midweek like she did with midnights to maximise the impact so this will certainly give this a huge boost. It’ll be interesting to see the streaming numbers tomorrow and how many get over the million mark as I suspect there will be a few and also how it holds up. I think she’s missed a trick though doing the double album now, she could have waited a couple of days and then given the whole album a boost but alas it’ll still be massive one way or another.

Predict: Taylor Swift - The Tortured Poets Department
I can’t remember what I voted for now but I think it’ll best Midnights first week sales. Her US figures will be insane id already thought she’d clear 2 million there in the first week but if it’s there with the preorders then she might challenge Adele’s record.

Taylor Swift Streams Poll
I would think if any album of her career is going to set a watermark on streaming in its first day it should be this one given it’s coming off the back of her most successful era since 1989 and the re-release of said album, plus the tour. How it holds up the rest of the week it’s hard to say, but I wouldn’t be surprised if 2-3 songs are around or above the million mark. I think 1.5 mil for the lead track but could easily be a little higher.

Also just seen slow it down is top 40. I really hope this gains steam going forward it’s such a catchy follow up.

Amazing for Hozier, I’ve only just properly heard it but I can see why it’s taken off. Love that we keep getting a new song taking off every 2-3 weeks, I feel like Q1/2 of 2019 was the last time we had anything this active in that regard. It’ll be interesting to see where Too Sweet peaks as I’m not personally convinced he’s going to stop Taylor being no1 at this stage.

Wow at scared to start finally taking off, it’s been hovering at the lower end of the top 40 for a while now so glad to see it’s finally breaking out at last. Fingers crossed it can chart in the top 10 next week.

Predict: Taylor Swift - The Tortured Poets Department
I opted for No1 and over 200k. Personally I’m not surprised she’s releasing the 11th album this year as many have said, she’s pretty much chucked one out every 2 years roughly, more the timing I was surprised at as I thought she’d have picked Q4. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if she challenges 30 or beats it for first week sales. So 250/300k with a massive second week drop wouldn’t surprise me, depends on how exhausted everyone is by then and of course how the album is received. I can see why people are making the overexposed comments and I sort of agree, it’s more saturation at this point. Even though the TVs are fundamentally not new albums the promotion/hype around them (especially 1989) it does feel a bit like we’ve just had an era of sorts, so I can see why people are a bit worn out. Personally I’m intrigued to see how it sounds, I feel like it might be in the same vibe as midnights.

Nice to see Nothing Matters climbing, it’s growing on me I have to say. Also refreshing to see a new indie band breaking through.

Yeah I meant more it getting a second wind so to speak as it’s been climbing up gradually for a few weeks now. I doubt it would get a new peak unless they reset it (which I doubt it).

Love seeing Noah’s tracks rising up the chart still, I hope Dial Drunk can eventually take off it’s my favourite off the album. Crazy to see two 00s hits in the top 10, makes you wonder what other gem from the 00s will have a second wind next.

Ah thank you, I wasn’t sure. I totally forgot about heatwaves. Maybe it is unprecedented then. I would argue Stick Season is quite refreshing chart wise and agree with it being Mumford and sons throwback with its folk-pop. Which to be fair they were huge early in the career with the same sound.
