  1. Nice to see some Brit boosts for Sam and Adele. I do like seventeen but was kinda hoping he was going to do Spit of You and help push that into the top 40. It’s a great mellow track but I’m all for seventeen having a bite at re-peaking. I drink wine should have been the follow up imho then maybe omg. I feel like from a narrative point of view that flows better and then round it out with love is a game. Alas omg has grown on me over the last few weeks so I hope it can continue to climb. Surprised Ed hasn’t picked up with JATQ.

Interesting as ever thanks for this! Would that not have been a first appearance in the top 40 for the latter two meat loaf songs? Edit: I’ve just looked, you’re right. I never realised they’d both been top 40 before.
  3. I seem to remember the same thing happened with George’s last album. Don’t matter now was released a good 6-7 months ahead of the album and was very muted response wise, then paradise somehow took off when that came out.
  4. Adele really is clinging on by her fingertips with the airplay. I’m glad she’s no1 but I do feel like Bruno should have it’s moment, it might get there if nothing big drops in the next couple of weeks. Love to see four British acts in the top 10 again!
  5. Little boost for Adele by the looks of it due to the video drop, will be interesting to see how that performs over the next week or so. Lol at removal of Merry Christmas, is Ed secretly reading this forum.
  6. Are you sure? As it was top of the list when I looked last week?
  7. Annoying Mariah kept it in the end, I saw some predictions that just about put Adele ahead. She might finally claw it back again next week. If they are going to keep allowing old hits to have this kind of resurgence each Christmas she will likely end up breaking the all time record in a few years. She’s managed 3-4 weeks the last two years.
  8. Lol I think Katy Perry wants people to know she has a new single out. Why is it still on the playlist? Are they paying to keep it on NMF?
  9. Those Spotify numbers seem the lowest for a long time, although it was probably similar this time last year especially given how little the sales were for the no1s just before and after Christmas.

    - Ed dominates the year and scores another two no1s in desperation to beat Cliff Richard’s record for a British male of 14. - Ed drops “-“ in the autumn which shoots to no1 but sells less than “=“. - Adele performs To Be Loved and has a miniature someone like you moment for a week or two. - Lewis Capaldi comes back with a no1 album but it underperforms - Harry Styles comes back with a new album late in the year, both the lead single and album shoot to no1. - Dua Lipa returns with her third album and scores a 4th no1 single. - An old British artist gets wheeled out to do some platinum jubilee song. - Taylor reaches no1 with her re-release of 1989 but doesn’t do as well as red because she doesn’t sign 30k of cds. - buzzjack also goes into meltdown the same week as people argue it’s not a new no1. - Taylor also releases brand new material towards the end of the year. No re-release of SN or R. - Sam Fender goes onto have a breakthrough year and wins at the brits. - Robbie Williams makes a comeback. - Beyoncé drops an album out of nowhere and breaks streaming records. - Indie/rock sees a bit of a revival with pop/rock becoming popular like the mid 2000s. - Ladbaby goes for a fifth Christmas no1 with some sausage roll shite, probably rips off three lions. - U.K. charts continue to be a mess with top 100 being half full of old hits for most the year. - We have a mega no1 by some generic rnb or rap artist that drives everyone mad. - A new rock act take the world by storm. - A drag act represents the U.K. at Eurovision. - George Ezra returns with a modest successful third album which tops the charts. Ends up doing a football song for England. Hoping for a year where well established artists don’t have to keep pulling desperate and tactical moves to be no1 when they could get there organically anyway. And also they change the chart rules to better count albums streams properly and sort the mess of the singles chart out but I very much doubt it.
  11. Decent sales for Adele again, looks like she’ll drift past the 2 million mark during the first part of 2022. It’ll be interesting to see how her sales hold up post Christmas. I wonder if she can get to 3 million further down the line, it seems quite typical for the big albums these days to sell between 2-3 million, I think only Billie has managed more in recent years.

I think Ed will likely win the best pop act given its fan based. Really looking forward to see who wins producer/songwriter of the year. I have a feeling Adele or Ed might pick up the latter.

I must have missed it on the announcement for the removal of the gender awards but was shocked but very happy to see an international song category. I don’t know why they couldn’t stretch to album too but it’s been long overdue and im all for it. Refreshing to see genres included after 15 years, even if they are mixed matched and don’t make a huge amount of sense. I’m hoping either Adele or Fender win album and I that someone other than billie wins international artist. She shouldn’t have been nominated last year.
  14. Lol poor Ewan looks just destined to be no14 no matter how the chart is put together. Hoping it climbs in the new year, I feel like Sam fender may suffer a lower peak however due to the Christmas onslaught.
  15. Yes sorry I was going on a bit of a tangent there but yes one easy way to implement it would be removing the daily cap and replacing it with a final one. Sure it wouldn’t stop people that are discovering or playing Xmas hits for the first time counting but we wouldn’t have a top 40 that has only a handful of non-festive songs in each year. I personally didn’t mind the big flood of Xmas songs the first couple of years, it was a nice change but it’s now becoming increasingly tedious.
  16. I think with the Christmas songs it’s a good illustration for how ACR really wasn’t and isn’t the solution to the charts and trying to speed things up. If they are monopolising the chart with those rules applied, the way streaming is counted needs to completely change. Permanent capping is the only way forward imho.

I think (hoping too) that Tell Me Something Good will have a new year push and be able to finally leap into the top 10.

Urgh is ladbaby really doing another song? I know it’s for charity but I hope it flops, fed up of these terrible one week wonder charity records. It’s as bad as the X factor dominating every year.
  19. I suspect her streaming numbers will go up on Spotify tomorrow given how AM has responded today. Hopefully she can break Arianas streaming record for the week for a female act. I think I Drink Wine will leap frog My Little Love again tomorrow, really surprised at how that has done so well so far. I don’t know anyone who likes it but a lot of people clearly do.

I agree, it makes a mess allowing fans to vote. Best British video was a good example of how much of a mess that became. Still at least the genres are back.

I did but it still wasn’t clear if that was going to be handed out in the show or not, given it wasn’t listed at the bottom with the other awards. Glad that seems to be the case.

This means Adele could win more awards potentially if the global icon is something that will keep running. Did I read that right as well there will be a best producer and songwriter of the year awards too? That I think would be a brilliant addition

I’m glad they’ve brought back the genres, I’ve been saying for a while I thought they should. Although a little perplexed as to why pop and RnB have been put together. I think they should be separate tbh. Not sure what to make of the removal of the gender awards. I guess in a way the music and the artist are what should be awarded and that’s what’s happening here. I do wish the international category had a song/album part to it.
  24. This! I totally agree and it’s been something I’ve been thinking about the last few weeks. I mean I personally think the charts singles and albums are an absolute mess and have been for a while. With albums though, they could easily change rules to allow for more bigger sales, allowing for all album tracks to count would be a good start, Red certainly would have benefited a lot from this and equals.
  25. A comedown on yesterday but she’s still got the whole album top 20 on Spotify and AM in the U.K. Glad I Drink Wine is climbing, it’s really grown on me over a few listens. Will be interesting to see how the special impacts the streaming side of this things tomorrow.
