Ed Sheeran - “=“ first week sales predictions
Pleasantly surprised having had a listen. I do think that Bad Habits and Shivers are the two worst songs on that album really. They sound nothing like the rest of the album.

Ed Sheeran - “=“ first week sales predictions
I think he could fall between 300-400k. It’s hard due to the drop off in physical/digital sales but his streaming numbers will be bigger than divides opening week I would have thought. I do feel like this era hasn’t been as big as divide was though and the collaboration project has weakened his comeback somewhat.

US Hot 100 – 10/16/2021
Its interesting that country songs are still doing well on the Hot 100, I thought it was a covid response last year when Luke Coombs reached No2 but I'm starting to wonder if there's something else behind the sudden rebound in country songs reaching the top 10 again. I think its a shame it doesn't cross over more to the UK, our charts.

Adele - Easy on Me - Streaming Estimates?
I think I went for opening and peak with 2-2.25 million streams, as much as I'd like her to increase or hold those values all week I doubt she will but I wouldn't be surprised if shes still doing around the million mark by next Friday.

OCC: Adele's Top 20 Biggest Songs
Still annoys me how Set Fire never made the top 10 even though it was there in the midweeks at least twice. Such a tune of hers and in my top two from her personally. I’m sure it even cleared 600k on downloads alone at the time whilst 21 was flying off the shelves. What’s also striking is just how successful the singles have been, given she hasn’t actually released that many. 3/4 of them have shifted a million units and even with streaming not being added she had six in a row that sold between 800k-1600k whilst the albums also sold very heavily. I reckon someone like you could really move up if 30 is another huge success.

Spotify & Apple Music Chart Discussion
How much did Shape of You do in its first 24 hours, I feel like it was around 1.4 million on Spotify but I can’t remember the exact figure.

US Hot 100 – 09/12/2020
Ah right ok. No I think I was getting confused with how their points system works as I thought certain variables had more weight if sales were low ect, but maybe I've got that entirely wrong. Just looking at that chart, it looks like Blinding Lights is staying atop of the airplay chart for the next update.

US Hot 100 – 09/12/2020
Are downloads weighted more than streams on the chart? Just as to me I feel like WAP should have gone back to no.1 given its airplay is just about giving it the edge over Dynamite.

Chart Battle Replay: Spiller vs. True Steppers
I do like OOYM its one of the best solo Spice singles out of all their respective solo careers and fair play to Victoria for trying a bit of garage, although I'd argue that genre does sound very dated, whereas Groovejet wouldn't be out of place if released now. I remember being gutted at the time Victoria only reached no.2, as Groovejet just did not appeal to me at the time but its grown on me over the years. Still its one of the biggest selling singles out of all the solo spice girl hits and sold more than most of Geri's no1 hits.

Estimated chart without ACR
Thanks for continuing to do these, I actually prefer seeing this chart, even if it is slow moving, over the fake ACR one. Interesting how Taylor dominated in the top 10 more due to ACR, but where I do sort of agree with the OCC is having that track limit in the top 40 as otherwise it does look stupid. That said I don't think official singles should be counted in the three track rule.

Estimated chart without ACR
Ah ok thank you for clarifying that. Yeah I get what you mean, I was just starting to get my head around the chart at the start of 2017 and then they brought in ACR which I think creates this faux view of things and hasn't really solved the problem of a slow chart. That said, Ed's domination was rather ridiculous when Divide came out but I think they could have amended that rule to be all official singles and the top streamed album being allowed to chart would have been a better middle ground scenario. Out of interest, how long would Gaga's Stupid Love have remained in the top 40 for? I'm guessing even without ACR it would have dropped out before Chromatica was released. Also I'm sure the Weekend would have broken a weeks in the top 10 record by now.

folklore • 8th album
Lovely and chilled on a first listen, was perfect for sitting indoors on a wet day with a mug of tea and having it playing in the background. August and This is me trying are the two standouts for me, August is up there almost instantly with one of my favourites from her. Love the lyrics and melodies in August.

Estimated chart without ACR
Thanks for putting these together, I've often wondered what the chart would look like without ACR. May be a stupid question, but are the peaks in brackets what that song achieved without ACR? I do really kind of wish ACR didn't exist, as slow as the chart would be at least it would be organic. That said, not sure what I would have thought about Mariah being no1 each December.

Some subtle changes on mine but not a massive amount, Babylon and Rain On Me I can't really decide between them but I think Babylon is just ahead for me now. Broadly the top 4 are now pulling ahead of the rest of the album so I can't see it changing anytime soon. Hope Babylon is a single as I can't wait to see what she does with the video (and hopefully makes the song another minute longer with a remix). In terms of her other albums for me I'd rank it second behind The Fame, with ASIB closely in third. Thats not to say I don't love this album I really do, its all I've listened to, its been so personally healing for me to listen to and lifted me up so much. I hadn't heard Love Me Right on the first listen but If I was to place it now it would be 08 behind Sour Candy. Really don't get the point of that not being available on Spotify, like surely the target exclusive should have been the first week or two it was on sale. Glad to see Replay climbing on everyones lists so far. 01. Babylon (05-01) 02. Rain On Me (01-02) 03. Replay (03) 04. Stupid Love (02-04) 05. 911 (09-05) 06. Enigma (06) 07. Sour Candy (04-07) 08. Alice (07-08) 09. 1000 Doves (07-09) 10. Free Woman (11-10) 11. Sine From Above (10-11) 12. Plastic Doll (12) 13. Fun Tonight (13)

What should be the 3rd single from Chromatica?
I think Sour Candy is pretty much primed as the next single but at the same time I feel its passed it time to be pushed, although I think Replay would be a really interesting single choice. Logically however, I think they'll pick Free Woman, its the sort of song I can imagine Heart playing 20 times a day like they do with most songs. It very catchy too and I can see it doing moderately well, I also think Sine from Above will get pushed at some point. There's a fair few choices as singles from this Album tbf, if it was me I think I'd do; Stupid Love Rain On Me Free Woman Replay Sine From Above Babylon I do like Sour Candy but I think Free Woman would perform better. Sine from Above and Free Woman I think will get more broad appeal from older audiences and keep interest in the album. Babylon is screaming to be released at some point and I reckon could do well if promoted correctly with a remix and stunning video, perhaps as the closing single and pushed around the awards season next year.

Sorry! It just doesn't do it for me, but its not by any means a bad song. Like that Replay is climbing up on everyones lists though, such a banger!

Now I've been listening to the album pretty much non stop for a few days, I've had a shuffle. 01. Rain On Me 02. Babylon 03. Replay 04. Stupid Love 05. Sour Candy 06. 911 07. Enigma 08. Alice 08. 1000 Doves 09. Free Woman 11. Sine From Above 12. Fun Tonight 13. Plastic Doll I'm finding it really hard to pick between the top 3 for my favourite. Rain On Me I love for the lyrical content and the meaning as I can really resonate with it so that's the only reason I've out edged it against Babylon and Replay. The whole album is very solid though, the production is so slick and smooth for a dance album, I just love it. Gaga's vocals are just simply amazing and totally on point, there is just nothing to fault at all, it compliments the music even more. Even though I love Stupid Love, I am starting to think Babylon may have been a better lead single perhaps.

'Chromatica' singles
The more I hear it the more I love Babylon. I'll be surprised if she doesn't push it as a single, I'd be interested to see how the GP get on with it if it was.

'Chromatica' singles
I voted for Sour Candy, Replay and Babylon. Sour Candy is a nice club anthem that sounds far too much like Girls Like but I love it. Sexy and catchy, can see it being played a lot on the radio. Replay I get "Don't Stop Now" vibes from but goes full throttle club banger during the hours and is brilliant. Babylon I think would be quirky single. Starts off a bit slow but then turns into banger that sounds like Vouge and Ru Paul Drag Race, could see this going down well in the clubs much like the rest of the album.

I felt exhausted after hearing this all the way through the first time, those thudding house beats are relentless. Very close between the top 4, Sour Candy was stuck in my head all day yesterday. 01. Rain On Me 02. Stupid Love 03. Replay 04. Sour Candy 05. Babylon 06. Enigma 07. 1000 Doves 08. Alice 09. 911 10. Sine from Above 11. Free Woman 12. Plastic Doll 13. Fun Tonight Loving the crazy space-esque house sound on Replay

Stupid Love • 1st single
Didn't hear the leaked version but absolutely loving this! Just fun carefree pop is what the world needs right now. Do think the start sounds a bit 90s house like before going full blown 80s synthpop.

How can we tackle the power of playlists?
I don't think playlists are the whole problem, it's how streaming is being counted in general. I think the fact we now have a chart governed by people listening to the same tracks over and over again is the problem. That said, perhaps removing chart playlists where the top songs will always get first dibs on being streamed and more likely to stay in front and the HH playlist on Spotify being completely changed every couple of weeks might help. I think there's more that could be done to promote new artists and songs that are trying to break through than there is currently. I would actually be intrigued to see how the charts would look if streaming was permanently capped once it had been streamed x amount of times on an individual basis, as i think that would remove a lot of deadweight in the charts if that were the case.

Your defining chart moment of this decade
Happy selling almost two million downloads I think for me is a highlight. Given the sales decline of the mid 00s, I honestly never thought we'd have a million selling single ever again let alone one that does almost two. I really do miss the download era. I do think the streaming sale units are way too inflated. Adele 21/25 both of these are another. I doubt we'll see that level of selling power again for a long while, but I think what is more amazing is how one performance triggered all of it. Selling 100k of a single and the parent album simultaneously for three weeks is something I don't think anybody had done since the Spice Girls. Not only that, 21 selling over 100k for 12 straight weeks was nothing sort of incredible. It was a bit disheartening to see TGS overtake its run at no1 last year. Then 25 smashing 800k in a week with Hello topping every chart around the world was brilliant. Drake getting 15 weeks was also fantastic to see. Again probably will never happen again but Tones and I certainly gave ACR a run for its money. Finally, I think Gaga ascending to no1 with Shallow was my final big moment of the decade. She began the 10s as the biggest popstar in the world but by 2014 it felt as though everyone had tired of her. Then she grabs a no1 single out of nowhere with song that is tinged with country vibes making it all the more peculiar, with the soundtrack also being a no1 success.

Songs that deserved better UK chart peaks in 2019
Katy Perry - Never Really Over Vampire Weekend - This Life Clean Bandit & Marina - Baby Taylor Swift - Lover Still at a loss (and think I will be for years!) as to how Katy never managed top 10 with that absolute banger. One of her best and far superior to most pop songs that have managed it this year. I know Vampire Weekend have never had a top 10 so I wouldn't have expected it to, however, this deserved top 40 at least. Its basically Brown Eyed Girl part 2. Clean Bandit is another I don't understand how this failed but somehow I Miss You managed to do it. Aside from the fact Cruel Summer was a song that could not have screamed smash hit any louder than it does, but never was. Lover however I think was a great third single, its a nicer version of Perfect that doesn't make you want to vomit. Thought this would have been a slow burner and eventually have gotten there but I think the timing was off. Had the album dropped in November I think it would have fitted more with the christmas theme and done considerably better.

Lover • 7th album
Really loving Cruel Summer still, think its up there with some of her best. London Boy has really grown on me too, It is a bit cheesy but its not as bad lyrically as people are making it out it is imho. Although the line god I love the english is quite bad aha.
