Lover • 7th album
Just having had a listen, Its much better than Reputation, even though I did like the remix of Delicate. It's also surprised me how much better it is, the two lead singles I thought were awful. I agree this should have been the album that followed 1989, which is still one of the finest pop albums ever made. As many have said, they really picked the worst singles from this album. I Forgot You Existed should have been the lead, followed by Cruel Summer, imho haha. Also like Death By Thousand Cuts and Afterglow but Lover is my favourite.

Chart Replay: Usher vs. Girls Aloud
Ah Five colours was my fave no1 of that year by a mile. Loved their debut album, still one of my all time favourites, very underrated pop group imho.

Chart Replay: Usher vs. Girls Aloud
I prefer Burn over The Show, the latter of which I personally found rather irritating at the time. Although looking at that Top 10 McFLY was by far my favourite at the time, they pretty much summed up the summer of 04 for me.

OCC: Top 40 biggest singles of 2019 so far
This may sound like a stupid question but how come the streaming for SBP lower than the sales equivalent totals? i.e I would have thought 79.8 million streams would equal 798,000 units from total sales perspective? Is this because its incorporated YT views into streaming which don't count towards overall sales?

Amazing streams from Billie. Didn't expect it to do so well on the first day, its a great album though especially loving bad guy, really hope that holds up well enough to be #1 officially.

US Hot 100 - 03/09/2019
Yes!! Go Gaga! Amazing achievement to climb to no1 after all these weeks and also manage to do the double simultaneously. She's had such an incredible comeback with the film and the soundtrack, never thought it would be as big as it has been but so glad it has its brilliant! Crazy to think this is only her 4th No.1, still don't know how Bad Romance never reached No1 in the U.S.

YTD T40 Albums (with estimated sales)
ASIB looks like it could actually hit 400k in sales, could even end up at 500k which is amazing!

OCC: P!nk's Best Selling Singles
Nice to see Like A Pill in her top 10 biggest sellers. My favourite of hers by a mile. As for the BRIT award argument. Yeah I can see why maybe perhaps Madonna should have been given the award, but Pink is deserving on the award as much as she is imho. She's been very inspirational to many for her music, her voice and is a brilliant role model. Michael Jackson won an Artist of a Generation award which basically sounds like the same thing. I don't think it should be just a British thing either, like the BRITs doesn't really celebrate any international success and I think if it opened up its categories more it would probably be more respected internationally. There should be at least international single and album.

Chart Rule changes on ACR introduced this week
I wish they'd just do away with ACR and cut the problem off at the legs and introduce some rules that actually tackle the problem with streaming instead of sweeping it under the rug. Having songs falling 20-30 places most weeks is just such a mess.

Has the Xmas number 1 lost its meaning?
I think X Factor was the nail in the coffin for the Xmas No.1. I mean it was drying up in terms of competition in the early 00s but X Factor dominated it in such a way it was almost unbeatable for several years and people just gave up and targeted the gift card effect. January for a number of year would have a stream of huge hits being chucked out. I'm really glad its shifted away from that though, even if it's not that exciting having something charge in with stellar sales, but the charts in general are a right mess anyway.

OCC: Spice Girls Best Selling Singles
Nice to see the full sales list, thanks for that! SUYL easily going to become their 4th million seller (or whatever you want to call it) Wannabe could end up at 2 million units the way its going in 2-3 years, possibly sooner if it gets a big boost from the reunion.

US Hot 100 – 10/20/2018
Baffling that Maroon 5 are still somehow no1. Does airplay have a larger weight behind it than anything else on the Billboard? Given its only just top 10 on downloads and top 20 on streaming and no1 on airplay you'd think it would be somewhere in the top maybe based on that. Also for any country fans Meant To Be is approaching being no1 on the hot country singles for almost a whole year

UK Christmas Number 1, 2018
I think it's too early to call. I wouldn't be surprised if a big artist returns out of the blue and poses a serious challenge. The way this year's been I wouldn't be surprised if a musical nabbed it.

The UK's biggest studio albums of all time
I think Rumours is going to fast become one the top selling studio albums at the rate its going. Its been placed in the YTD 40 the past two years, seems to have really found a new lease of life with the younger generation, me being one of them. Fantastic album though, one that is now one of my favourites having only really properly listened to it a couple of years back. Still amazing that Adele managed to shift 5 million units in almost as many years, especially considering the only other albums on that countdown have took 20-30 years to achieve the same sales and without any re-released editions.

OCC: Top 40 Singles of the year so far
I think this is illustrating how stale the music industry has become tbh, we aren't having the same level of exciting new artists breaking through into the mainstream that we did a few years back. Not only that there just hasn't been many big tunes really. If you were to ask someone who doesn't follow the charts what this years big songs have been I'm sure they'd only name Shotgun and One kiss and perhaps These Days. Yes streaming with the way it can continuously count towards the chart without any limit doesn't really help but it has been an incredibly dull year for music which doesn't really help either. Perfect being on 2.3 million units is just mental but I guess thats what releasing 10 versions of the song does

Really hoping Mumford and Sons can do well over the coming weeks, absolutely brilliant song! Instantly in the top 5 of my favourite songs this year

OCC: Michael Jackson Top 60
Quite disappointed actually that Billie Jean has overtaken Earth Song. I always liked that quirk that everyone always assumed Billie Jean was his biggest hit in the UK but it wasn't even in the top 3.

Spotify Chart Thread 2018 [IV]
Can see TooTime being the "The Sound" of the new album for The 1975. Sounds similar but I also think this could climb fairly high over the coming weeks.

PRE-RELEASE PREDICTA: Calvin Harris & Sam Smith - Promises
I think it could do a blame given the charts have been stale for a while but I doubt it'll get close to matching One Kiss.

Greatest Showman passes 1 million sales
Yeah I see your point but at the same time I think its better than having random tracks appear for a week and then drop out again. Perhaps maybe the most cherry picked track can be included within that rule as well? As they often end up being served as the next single anyway. With Drake though thats a fairly unusual situation as most albums tend to only have one album track people will jump on, ala Ed Sheeran with Galway Girl. Surely if a song took off that rapidly they could announce it as the next single instead and have it debut at no1 (and making it another new fresh chart entry that week ;) )

Greatest Showman passes 1 million sales
Introducing ACR on the albums chart would be the final straw imho, totally unnecessary. Its made a mess of chart runs on the singles chart and made a mockery of what its actually meant to represent. Whilst I also frown on the OCC's random inclusion of soundtracks to the albums chart. It can't be knocked if its been no1 for numerous weeks because its popular, even though I don't like it or see the appeal whatsoever. Album sales being at record low levels is just encouraging longer running spells at no1 as when a big album comes out its able to use sit there by default for weeks, e.g Ed Sheeran last year. They should have a rule that songs that are promoted as official singles are only counted towards the singles chart and therefore other songs are counted towards the album. Any subsequent singles should be then counted as such once they are announced. I reckon this would solve so many issues and is far less complicated than their current three track rule and may help post album releases be able to suddenly vault up the chart.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 29th June 2018
Yeah if England somehow manage to win the world cup I can see 3 lions easily being propelled to no1, even if it is for just a week or two. Its certainly doing well today but I'd imagine it'll subside over the coming days but then again I feel there's hype around England there hasn't been for a long time in a major tournament.

OCC: Florence + the Machine Top 10 Best Sellers
I remember hearing Kiss with a Fist back in the summer of 2008 and took me a while to twig they were the same act when they released Rabbit Heart the following summer. Despite loving Kiss, I wasn't keen on their first album at all apart from Dog Days and You've Got The Love when it first came out but did think they were a good band, however now I absolutely love it. Shake it off though is my favourite. An absolute tune and one of my all time favourites! do not know how an earth it never went top 10 even after performing it on X Factor, its such an uplifting song.

Music Week confirm YouTube streams will count to chart
I'm actually beginning to think the removal of free streams may speed the chart up naturally. As I can imagine, and by what the OCC have said about not axing free streams completely, that its the younger demographic that make a large chunk of free streams whilst paid for is probably more fairly mixed. So certain artists I reckon may see a fall in their streaming. Hopefully their next rule change will be axing ACR but I highly doubt they ever will. Edit: Actually does anyone know if total sales will be calculated on a 1:100 basis for all formats and subscriptions?

Music Week confirm YouTube streams will count to chart
This is an interesting addition to the chart. I'm glad they are making some steps to make the chart about premium subscription streaming rather than including free streams. However they should just remove them all imho, but I guess this might be them testing the waters first before making further changes down the line. Video streaming I've thought should have been included for a long time so I'm quite happy about that. Finally bringing the ratio back to 1:100 makes so much sense as they brought in 1:150 to speed things up prior to ACR.
