Adele really is clinging on by her fingertips with the airplay. I’m glad she’s no1 but I do feel like Bruno should have it’s moment, it might get there if nothing big drops in the next couple of weeks. Love to see four British acts in the top 10 again!

Blimey, just how many albums does meat loaf have in the top 40? Is it a record? I feel like only Michael Jackson had that much of his back catalogue in the top 40 after he passed. Hope he can hold onto a top 10 placing in the singles but I think he’s more likely to end up doing better on the albums.

I agree it’s nice to have a little quicker turnover, especially given most songs get default 4-5 weeks and longer from the bigger hits. I just prefer a song to have a nice decent stint, a fortnight imho is a nice relative quick turnover. Bruno will be a nice change though from some of the utter garbage we’ve had at no1 over the last 12 months.

Hoping Gayle holds on for this week, purely because I’m not a fan of one week no1s. Prefer songs to hold onto the top spot for a couple weeks. Albums will be interesting this week, very low sales so anything could happen there.

Little boost for Adele by the looks of it due to the video drop, will be interesting to see how that performs over the next week or so. Lol at removal of Merry Christmas, is Ed secretly reading this forum.

Ed has also had two popular singles and pushed a third on release, with Adele only just now pushing a second single. So it might be 30 ends up being closer to equals in the next few weeks depending on how omg does.

Annoying Mariah kept it in the end, I saw some predictions that just about put Adele ahead. She might finally claw it back again next week. If they are going to keep allowing old hits to have this kind of resurgence each Christmas she will likely end up breaking the all time record in a few years. She’s managed 3-4 weeks the last two years.

Lol I think Katy Perry wants people to know she has a new single out. Why is it still on the playlist? Are they paying to keep it on NMF?

Looks as though Adele is about to promote OMG with a video drop on the 12th. Makes the reset a bit more baffling, I mean I get why but it would have been better to lest the dust settle and then promote the next single.

Precisely the point I was about to make. All it’s done is swept the streaming problem under the carpet, and we are now starting to trip over the bumpy carpet hiding all the big hits form the last 20 years, which are just one by one sitting in the top 100 and aren’t shifting. The singles chart will become a greatest hits chart in 10 years time the way it’s going. I agree we can’t go back to how it was but ACR needs replacing with something firmer that just clears the chart out.

Oh blimey, that’s the biggest twist on a midweek chart for a very long time, the drama! As much as I love Adele that really wasn’t needed at all, neither does Ed or a number of other tracks in there. It really it’s getting pathetic now with how everyone just has to be no1 for months (some way worse than others), although I suspect with Adele it might be they are after the British female record. She may as well just add someone like you as an extra track to 30 and be done with it :lol: Poor Ewan mcvicar also having another peak at no14, if it wasn’t for all the resets ahead of it, he could have actually benefitted from that reset. Hopefully GAYLE and Sam build momentum next week but I feel like Sam might well peak at No3 which is a shame. Annoying week but I don’t know what been worse with charts lately, it’s been so tedious and frustrating to follow for weeks now. I seriously hope they have a significant change of the rules.

Yes! Go on Sam, really chuffed its at No2. Was worried the Christmas tirade was going to prevent it reaching its peak. Not surprised to see Ed still no1 on albums, I feel he could just sit there by default for the next week or two.

Come on Sam!! It’s really grown on me the last few weeks and really like Spit of You too. I’d love it if he managed No2, easily the highest charting indie hit in a very long time. Love to see it.

Those Spotify numbers seem the lowest for a long time, although it was probably similar this time last year especially given how little the sales were for the no1s just before and after Christmas.

- Ed dominates the year and scores another two no1s in desperation to beat Cliff Richard’s record for a British male of 14. - Ed drops “-“ in the autumn which shoots to no1 but sells less than “=“. - Adele performs To Be Loved and has a miniature someone like you moment for a week or two. - Lewis Capaldi comes back with a no1 album but it underperforms - Harry Styles comes back with a new album late in the year, both the lead single and album shoot to no1. - Dua Lipa returns with her third album and scores a 4th no1 single. - An old British artist gets wheeled out to do some platinum jubilee song. - Taylor reaches no1 with her re-release of 1989 but doesn’t do as well as red because she doesn’t sign 30k of cds. - buzzjack also goes into meltdown the same week as people argue it’s not a new no1. - Taylor also releases brand new material towards the end of the year. No re-release of SN or R. - Sam Fender goes onto have a breakthrough year and wins at the brits. - Robbie Williams makes a comeback. - Beyoncé drops an album out of nowhere and breaks streaming records. - Indie/rock sees a bit of a revival with pop/rock becoming popular like the mid 2000s. - Ladbaby goes for a fifth Christmas no1 with some sausage roll shite, probably rips off three lions. - U.K. charts continue to be a mess with top 100 being half full of old hits for most the year. - We have a mega no1 by some generic rnb or rap artist that drives everyone mad. - A new rock act take the world by storm. - A drag act represents the U.K. at Eurovision. - George Ezra returns with a modest successful third album which tops the charts. Ends up doing a football song for England. Hoping for a year where well established artists don’t have to keep pulling desperate and tactical moves to be no1 when they could get there organically anyway. And also they change the chart rules to better count albums streams properly and sort the mess of the singles chart out but I very much doubt it.

Lol it’s a fair point to be honest, you can’t just keep adding popular tracks to make it sell more. Ed probably would have been number one this coming week anyway as his overall streams are higher than 30 and were before Christmas was added but you can’t deny it’s given him a bit of a boost this week.

Decent sales for Adele again, looks like she’ll drift past the 2 million mark during the first part of 2022. It’ll be interesting to see how her sales hold up post Christmas. I wonder if she can get to 3 million further down the line, it seems quite typical for the big albums these days to sell between 2-3 million, I think only Billie has managed more in recent years.

Yeah I know someone from work who bought a physical copy of = for her car so she could listen to it when she’s driving as she can’t connect her phone. So that’s another example I guess

Really hoping that somehow Ed and Elton just stay at no1 but it seems very unlikely. The fact he mentions about beating the record in the opening line of the song is the precise reason it should not be no1. At least the spice girls and Beatles had three in a row with three original songs (I know it’ll be four but still). It’ll be interesting to see what Adele does this week with 30, I still think double platinum is possible by the end of the year. I can see Ed waiting in the wings to climb back to no1 in January however. His streaming has held up a lot better than Adele’s.

I think Ed will likely win the best pop act given its fan based. Really looking forward to see who wins producer/songwriter of the year. I have a feeling Adele or Ed might pick up the latter.

I must have missed it on the announcement for the removal of the gender awards but was shocked but very happy to see an international song category. I don’t know why they couldn’t stretch to album too but it’s been long overdue and im all for it. Refreshing to see genres included after 15 years, even if they are mixed matched and don’t make a huge amount of sense. I’m hoping either Adele or Fender win album and I that someone other than billie wins international artist. She shouldn’t have been nominated last year.
