'Astral Projection' was originally sent to the BuzzJack Song Contest by Brer's nation Persephonia in edition 144, which pre-dates Scene's participation in the contest. This song finished 22nd in BJSC, so was fair game to enter here due to not cracking the top 20. But will Scene achieve a top 20 placing in PFSC? It is certainly looking good so far while Yumi Zouma currently occupy 13th place on the scoreboard. Scene's 12 points to Turnover mean that the rock band are now part of the top 10! Tennis had been struggling to get off the mark but are now recognised in a big way, as they receive a silver medal. This lifts 'Pollen Song' out of the wooden spoon position and instead into 21st. 'Mario's Café' is taken from their second album So Tough and was named after a real life café in Kentish Town. The band were inspired by 'Under The Streetlamp' by The Exits - taking cues from the songwriting about meeting up with friends and sharing dreams. Mango's entry is currently sitting pretty in sixth. Catching up on the last two sections! I'm not crazy about 'The Tide Is High (Get The Feeling)' either but I do agree that the added bridge is a redeeming feature, so helps it stand out more than their 'Eternal Flame' cover. "I'm gonna be your number 1" proved to be an apt lyric chart-wise over time with both Blondie and Atomic Kitten getting there! ...'Call Me' not quite a Blondie cover version though! I agree that the Timbaland production stands out positively, shame it barely dented the top 40. 'Dy-Na-Mi-Tee' would be my best of the week pick too. I love the trip-hop influences in the production and the delivery of the hook is really memorable. I'm currently being reminded of the N-Trance version of 'Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?' on TOTP repeats and 'Forever' is a palette cleanser in comparison to that formula, even if nothing groundbreaking. I heavily associate the instrumental of 'Fantasy' with the Now! That's What I Call A Music Quiz DVD if anyone else remembers this game that, 'Make Luv' and 'Year 3000' were used a lot. I remember getting that, on top of my parents picking up a Telly Addicts quiz DVD, in an airport - I see both of them were released in 2005 so probably that year. Not a bad start for Appleton as a duo anyway although I feel like the follow-up single has been a bit more enduring. I only discovered 'Two Months Off' about a year ago but it's great, Underworld rarely put a foot wrong for me! "You bring light in" is a lovely central lyric amongst the spoken word parts and their thrilling production style.
