Julian rates every 21st century Top 40 hit
Catching up on the last two sections! I'm not crazy about 'The Tide Is High (Get The Feeling)' either but I do agree that the added bridge is a redeeming feature, so helps it stand out more than their 'Eternal Flame' cover. "I'm gonna be your number 1" proved to be an apt lyric chart-wise over time with both Blondie and Atomic Kitten getting there! ...'Call Me' not quite a Blondie cover version though! I agree that the Timbaland production stands out positively, shame it barely dented the top 40. 'Dy-Na-Mi-Tee' would be my best of the week pick too. I love the trip-hop influences in the production and the delivery of the hook is really memorable. I'm currently being reminded of the N-Trance version of 'Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?' on TOTP repeats and 'Forever' is a palette cleanser in comparison to that formula, even if nothing groundbreaking. I heavily associate the instrumental of 'Fantasy' with the Now! That's What I Call A Music Quiz DVD if anyone else remembers this game that, 'Make Luv' and 'Year 3000' were used a lot. I remember getting that, on top of my parents picking up a Telly Addicts quiz DVD, in an airport - I see both of them were released in 2005 so probably that year. Not a bad start for Appleton as a duo anyway although I feel like the follow-up single has been a bit more enduring. I only discovered 'Two Months Off' about a year ago but it's great, Underworld rarely put a foot wrong for me! "You bring light in" is a lovely central lyric amongst the spoken word parts and their thrilling production style.

PopMaster & Ten To The Top II
Round 1: 30 (didn't get: Kool & The Gang, M People) Round 2: 33 (didn't get: The Clash) 3-in-10: 3 (Invisible Touch, Jesus He Knows Me, I Can't Dance) I watched a film called Roma yesterday which was set in 1970 to begin with and 'Yellow River' was playing in the car, so a handy reminder for the R1 year question

☁️ PFSC XVI: Dreamy Pop ☁️ Voting • deadline: Sunday 4th May 2025, 23:59 BST
Deadline has now passed! I count 24 votes in my inbox including two guest voters *.* I haven't received anything from RobBot, vibe or WhoOdyssey. I'm happy to accept late votes until 2pm BST time but really want to finalise prep work after that, so still a bit of time to avoid a 33% deduction. Look out for a results thread this evening 💖☁️

Favourite solo spice #1
Starting with 'Lift Me Up', don't care for it as a song and Geri's vocal performance is pretty strained
-
The Gallup Years- Top 10 Sales- 1989
Yes great to see the arrival of 'Ride On Time'! I assumed it was a 90s song for years so was surprised to discover that it was actually late 80s. What a TUNE

Your Favourite PRODUCED Album
I've been revisiting Blackout recently after 'Get Naked (I Got A Plan)' came on shuffle *.* The first album to come to mind was Madonna's Ray Of Light! I do appreciate the lyrics and her post-Evita vocals too but the dreamy, ambient production of that record is stunning and continues to be a relevant reference point to this day.

Piran's Personal Chart (07/05/2025)
Hello Piran, hope you're good! Pleased to see a top 10 debut for PinkPantheress she's on fire right now... bring on the EP *.* Good that Lorde has made it in as well <3 I do hold special memories of Solar Power as I finally saw her live during that era... but loving the pivot to more of a familiar sound from her again. Intrigued for the album after seeing the title and cover! My favourite song in your throwback chart is 'Miracle', one of the best #1 hits that year.

Sergej's Personal Chart 02.05.2025
Hi Sergej hope you're good! Delighted to see such a big rise for Addison this week *.* can't get enough of 'Headphones On' and I'm really looking forward to her album next month! Great new entries for Lana and Lorde too! Shame the latter only just missed out on a U.K. top 10 placing today, but #11 still a good result nevertheless.

eternal sunshine • 7th album
#21 in the albums this week, not too bad with 7 new entries above it!
