It always Happens with these massive smash hits, they get sick of it as it’s so non-stop the performing, talking about and promoting it. Eventually they usually go on to love it. Same happened to Lola Young. I saw her in March 2024 and she said she was sick of performing messy and wanted another song to be her hit instead but in September she talked about how messy changed her life and how much she likes it. It’s just like when we get sick of hearing a song due to being overplayed and then can go hack to loving it

Raye closes both her albums with songs called “Fin.” I know neither are particularly songs people choose to play, the one from my 21st century blues has the guy who did the intro close it out as he opened by introducing the “my 21st century blues club starring raye” and the 2026 one is a little song to thank people for listening Before thanking everyone who worked on the record

She still sings decline, you don’t know me, prada and secrets as part of her current tour so I’d imagine those are her group of “dance” songs she still likes and hasn’t disowned. Bed she hasn’t sung since 2024, and when I saw her in 2023 she sang it at the roundhouse saying she has nothing against Joel or David as she gets along with them but she just didn’t like the song and felt forced to do it

Oh he’s just posted a snippet of a new song called “mr know it all” no release day yet

I think WIMH will go on to be her signature song in the long run, it’s had a bigger audience than escapism arguably. Great to see so many of her independent post-label singles in here, worth it, flip a switch, Oscar winning tears and even the weekend! Black mascara deserves to be in here though, she’s got a great catalogue

Buzzjack fave Teddy Swims is gearing up for a new era! He’s cleared his socials and has got a blue profile picture and uploaded a story With a graphic of blue question marks. I can’t say I’m particularly interested, I really liked bad dreams and the door was pretty good too, but I’d imagine he’ll make some sort of noise charts wise so thought I’d make a thread for it

Yes I agree escapism was a flowers moment but her continued success with husband, her tour, now a number 1 album, to see her go from crying on instagram live because the label wanted another generic dance top 10 before she could release to now her second album going to number 1! I’ve been a fan of hers for over 10 years so it makes me very happy to see her continued success because she has worked so hard for it

I’ve had this on repeat all day, so dropping my thoughts. Intro. - sets the scene so perfectly. I love how she did another intro to lay out the vibe the way m21cb opened with the jazz club vibe intro. I Will Overcome. - so insane. What a way to open! Phenomenal vocals as always. Beware.. The South London Lover Boy. - just as fun as it was live, can see this being a smash. Her charisma comes through so well The WhatsApp Shakespeare. - my most related currently, so additive. I am obsessed with that flute or clarinet during the verses, I love love love Winter woman. - a smashhhhh. So f***ing good. Click Clack Symphony. - such a moment. Masterpiece. I Know Your Hurting. - I am not exaggerating this song is the most special song to ever exist. I’ve struggled with mental health and it literally sums up me so perfectly. I adore the key change for that hopeful vibe. Truly stunning. Life Boat. - like Black Mascara. ‘s younger more positive sister. I adore the message and it’s so brilliant. I Hate The Way I Look Today. - I relate to the message, but it’s the one I’m playing least. Goodbye Henry. - wow. She really knows how to tell a story. Having Al Green on it is so special. Nightingale Lane. - still get goosebumps every time. Her voice is one of a kind. And she’s got such a talent at showing her emotions in her songs. I feel like it’s my break up. Skin & Bones. - bring the vibe back up, fun poppy moment. Love. WHERE IS MY HUSBAND! - SMASH HITTTTTTTTTTT Fields. - really hitting home as I lost my grandfather in January. Such a special song. Joy. - I feel like I’m at Sunday worship. Truly is what it says on the box, so joyous and gorgeous. Happier Days Ahead. - not my fave but again her story telling and world building is unlike anyone else. Fin. - definitely not one I’m choosing to play but I love how she took the time to name every single person involved. She is insane. Love her AOTY hands down. So so magnificent.
