Tough round but probably GA now :cheer:

You’re not weird but also people who do post about artists they don’t like aren’t weird either. :puke2:

Ed Sheeran - Under the Tree
I mean, yeah, he can do what he wants but, as always, posters reserve the right to be able to say what they think of it. I don’t think posting a few times in a thread equates ‘caring too much’. :teresa:

Shows that you think are overrated
The Miranda hate is too much.

Ed Sheeran - Under the Tree
I don’t think it’s about Ed releasing so much, I guess it’s more to do with the fact that people simply don’t want more music from him because they don’t like it.

Neighbours
They’re now saying Toadie is going down a route that is natural for his character at this point. I’ll admit he’s more interesting now than he’s been in years. Toadie is mainly only known for his longevity these days. He’s stayed with the show so long and that’s probably because he’s aware of his limitations as an actor. He’s very good at being the fun, comedy character but is incredibly weak when delivering anything emotional and just becomes shouty. And the writing has let him down big time over the past fifteen years-the Susan Bower era decided to make Toadie ‘grow up’ which could have still happened with his fun side in tow. But they made him a jerk to most characters whilst simultaneously still universally loved by all of them (the Kennedys suffered similar in that era but definitely recovered once it was over). Callum and Sonya were the saving grace but they’ve disappeared over the years and Toadie’s issues as a character are now more prominent because of this. The fact the character has had FIVE wives is ridiculous. It suits someone like Paul but not pillar of the community Toadie. Yes, Steph barely counts but she still does. Yes, he only married Mel because the show was ending. But it still happened. Yes, the Terese marriage was purely for shock value of the show returning but unfortunately that still counts and, along with the idea Mischa Barton could sell the show, was a huge misstep in the relaunch that we’ve thankfully finally recovered from. Terese is a fantastic character and Rebekah Elmaloglou is one of the shows best actors but even she can’t sell this. So as much as it’s a shame to see a big character going, the show does need to move past keeping characters just for the sake of it, especially when they’re not working anymore. With Amazon involved I’m not sure this was a budget decision. Sonya, Mark and Sheila were all let go at the ten year mark when the show was struggling financially but I don’t think that’s the case now. Terese could have face a similar fate and they’ve brought Harold back so I’m not sure money is a huge issue though Ryan’s salary would make room for new cast. I sound pretty negative but I’ve not got it in for Ryan Moloney or anything-I actually met him back in 2007 and he’s a great guy but the show needs to rest Toadie. <_<

Shows that you think are overrated
This is like blasphemy of the highest order. Sherlock is the most overrated show, the episodes were too long, the scripts were too pretentious and Benedict Cumberbatch is generally overrated.

I thought he’d made himself irrelevant by design? Not sure why y’all worried.

EastEnders
YAS Bernie getting a juicy storyline but also NO that she’s in with Dean. I can’t believe Elaine shouted ‘Bubbly’s in the fridge’ exactly a week before the anniversary of: WDjoAzKYYNo

EastEnders
I don’t mind Johnny and certainly don’t think the writers don’t know what to do with him but you were saying the exact same thing about Bobby a couple of years ago which was also inaccurate. Johnny’s main focus right now is a support to his Mum and the Six drama. I’m not sure what else people were expecting from his return at this point? They’ve set up a romance with Callum which is something even though I disagree with it. I wish they’d put him with Felix-I thought Felix would swoop in last week when Callum left Peggy’s but he just gossiped with Chelsea instead. But to reiterate-the writers clearly do know what they want to do with Johnny, it just might be that it isn’t what you imagined.

Southport Tragedy / Subsequent racist attacks
It’s great to see the counter protests in action. I actually spent the day in Liverpool today and was quite anxious that there may have been planned riots and yet the atmosphere was really calm. There certainly are more of us than them and I guess a fight back was inevitable. Riots take people off guard but after a week and some very public planning, the non racists have enough time to sort themselves out and show that these racist rioters actually are the minority. But shame on the media and certain politicians, they have helped stoke this. They have framed this rioters as ‘ordinary people’ with ‘legitimate concerns’, tried to avoid saying racism and Islamophobia whilst attacking the phrase ‘right wing thugs’. They’ve made the rioters believe they are the majority and caused a lot of anxiety.

Southport Tragedy / Subsequent racist attacks
Oh my goodness, words fail me. I usually know what to say but just wow…

Southport Tragedy / Subsequent racist attacks
I saw that before. It’s really disgusting how they spoke to her, they’re generally awful at their job. They looked stupid when speaking to Rhun ap Iorwerth from Plaid during the election but this is an absolutely different level. Forgetting talking over Zarah, why do they ask such idiotic questions like ‘why is it important to say it’s Islamophobia?’ The media reporting of all of this has been so bad.

The Posters' Chart: 4th August 2024
Re-entry to signify the return of ‘not nice T Boy’ it seems.

Southport Tragedy / Subsequent racist attacks
I don’t think bringing in the mathematics of riots from 2011 is particularly helpful, it already feels like an attempt to minimise what we’re going through right now. Perhaps no one has died yet but following today there’ll at least be attempted murder charges falling upon rioters.
-
Southport Tragedy / Subsequent racist attacks
I remember feeling awful and very upset about the state of things during the 2011 riots but I do think this feels worse. At that time, there wasn’t such a focus on racism which is undeniable of these riots. But as I said, there have been many more years of politicians and media stoking up the fires leading up to these riots. Britain has not been looked after and that’s not because of non white people.
-
Southport Tragedy / Subsequent racist attacks
These people are too hate filled for anything. I won’t forget the politicians who have played their part in stoking this fire over the years, along with the media, but racism and violence is a choice these people have made. The reporting has been disgusting. I’m absolutely fed up of the ‘oh but we have to be neutral in reporting’ bollocks-I have not seen the words racist or racism used anywhere and that’s what this is. There is no excuse for racism, not one.

Huw Edwards named as BBC presenter at centre of scandal
I’d ask that you don’t put words into ours in that case. Not once in this thread has ANYONE defended a pedophile. Stop implying that they are.

Huw Edwards named as BBC presenter at centre of scandal
For the record, I’ve not once asked you to apologise for anything. I’m giving my opinion on the way you’re posting and trying to advise you on how to not get into trouble by saying things before all of the information has come to light.

Southport Tragedy / Subsequent racist attacks
I think Hassaan is ok to be concerned-these idiots haven’t left everyone alone today. Hopefully things will die out over the next week. I do wish they’d stop reporting about anti-immigration protestors and just call them what they are-racists.

Huw Edwards named as BBC presenter at centre of scandal
No one defended behaviour like that once.

Huw Edwards named as BBC presenter at centre of scandal
I’m not defending him. I’m just saying that until there’s been a criminal conviction, you need to be more careful about what you say. Which is also why I said you were wrong to shame anyone who defended Huw a year ago. As for LL, I mentioned it only because you had someone else down as guilty before there was even a police investigation and yet defended someone with an actual conviction. I did just find it a tad hypocritical.

Huw Edwards named as BBC presenter at centre of scandal
I’m just countering your points, not sure there’s any need to get that personal. Phillip Schofield is not an accused groomer as far as I can see. There doesn’t appear to be an investigation into him or anything going on. Of course, that doesn’t mean something definitely won’t ever come out along those lines but it’s best to reserve any comments for if/when that happens no matter what your personal opinion.

Neighbours
I was much more gutted when it was announced that Sonya was axed. Toadie is a terrible character these days and has been awful since Sonya died. If we’re being honest, she was the only thing propping him up in the decade before that. Since they decided he had to ‘grow up’ which seemed to mean being an arse to everyone all the time, he’s not been essential for me. I wonder if the feedback Amazon have received about him has been poor. I don’t know anyone who has enjoyed his character since the relaunch.

EastEnders
I get the feeling that with the current writing, Sonia probably pout for a minute and then reason that Reiss is just trying his best and that then give any visitors a dressing down if they even suggest that Reiss getting her arrested is a red flag.
