Can’t believe Chris is close to going already. It’s a great song! Gwen too, I wasn’t fussy when it was first release but what a grower it was! Ahead of its time! I voted S Club 8 first. Forgettable.

I actually enjoyed Zoe in today’s episode. It was nice to see her seem like a human character and have some happy moments-something we really didn’t get from her before Christmas. It’d be nice to see her properly involved in the fall out of this. The affair seems so unnecessary though. I like the scenes of Jasmine and Josh bonding, I don’t think they need a sensational affair story right off the bat. Ian and Chelsea were great in their scenes.

Probably best to rest it. I did like some of RTD2’s era-some very good episodes! But he couldn’t land the plane for the finales and just thought chucking loads of characters at it would make to weak resolutions acceptable. Taking ideas from the sequel Star Wars trilogy and giving in to fan speculation because he hadn’t planned anything weren’t RTD’s best moves. His first run is still exceptional to this day. I do think he lost sight of why that run has been so special and couldn’t replicate it. The template was great, a series long thread that you could try and follow that would seem obvious when revealed. Just having obvious mysteries to get people talking isn’t enough. It should have been planned better with the audience being able to say ‘of course’ rather than ‘what?’ At the reveal. Again, see Disney Star Wars for examples how not to do this well. It’s annoying Billie has been left hanging but I wasn’t bowled over with the reveal at the time. There was clearly no plan to resolve it unless they’d signed Billie up for a series and that’s so unlikely. It had a twenty year run. A couple of years break is just what’s needed. When it returns I’d love to see some classic villains again as well as new stuff. I’d like to see the Doctor not be falling in love or have any companions fall in love with him/her/them. Fun is what we need and good stories.

That’s what I thought but it’s sloppy no one on set has taught Josh or Oscar how to say it.

Gobsmacked at Zoe actually appearing. I honestly thought they’d mark the 20th anniversary of everything she was banging on about all last year without her even being mentioned… Josh is actually coming off really bad in this storyline and Oscar not much better. These aren’t some star crossed lovers, they know what they’re doing and have made informed choices to get here. Jasmine is the only one in the dark about anything. I was actually relieved that Kat has found out already. Hopefully it’s over soon. And can they please agree on the pronunciation of Micah?

A great week. I haven’t felt the show has been as bad as some have been saying but one thing I’ve noticed is that Wadey does seem to respond to feedback. Zoe overload. No longer but it’s kind of gone the other way too far. Jasmine being unlikeable. That’s clearly being worked on. Mark gangster crap. He’s better without it. Vicki and Zack. Didn’t boil into a huge affair. Sam’s cancer story barely featuring. Denise’s will be headlining. There’s still work to do in places but I feel the show is going somewhere which is not how it seemed at Christmas. I’m guessing the prawn poisoning will lead to Kat and Alfie losing the Vic. It was vague as to who owned it in the flashforward and, again, viewers haven’t really reacted well to them being there.

Chris Cornell is clearly the best. I think Alicia/Jack next which felt poor initially but it clicked with me after seeing the film. Adele, Sam and Billie are all technically good but I find them boring. Let’s get the latest in singer and have them drone on. Madonna’s is clearly bottom of the pile.

I remember Charles and Diana being in the news often when I was very little. I was 8 years old when Diana died and that was the first ‘remember exactly where you were’ moment I experienced.

Oscar and Lauren weren’t even in that from what I can tell. Are we going to be seeing a Priya ‘who’s the daddy’ on top of a Penny one? I’m guessing Eddie dies tomorrow. But who will be responsible?

I’m going to take it that this pretty much rules Cindy out as the mystery bride in the flashforward. Actually feeling a bit sorry for Ian, I expect that might be largely down to the return of sanctimonious Jack who is of course still covering for the Six and the fact he shot Zoe last year.

The agency representing the young actor playing Jordan just tweeted that he’s become a series regular of Eastenders after tonight’s episode. I think that explains some things we might not know yet. Zack continues to be the worst character. He’s even making Mark seem likeable (though that could be because his initial terrible story is now over). As for Chelsea, they have planted a few seeds recently about her feeling dissatisfied with her life. Also, when you remember her from her initial return, a child wasn’t in the plan. She loves Jordan but she never really wanted to be a mother and that’s bound to catch up with her. Also WHERE is Zoe? Like pretty much everyone has been in the last Couple of eps. Have they quietly dropped Michelle Ryan?

Mylene Klass bagging that TOTP debut *.* But seriously the Millennium Prayer is absolute dirge, one of the worst songs ever created.

And Vicki legit doesn’t appear to be interested. Zack only got interested in the last 24 hours once Whitney knocked him back. He doesn’t even care about Barney after forcing his what into his life. The character is a mess.

Why bother bringing Albie too when he could have stayed with Michelle? Yes, he saw his dad but he’ll be seeing him in a month anyway. It’s been 5 years, maybe they should just cut their losses and bin Zack off. He didn’t even get much focus in today’s episode and they’ve thrown so much at him yet none of it sticks. Sharon needed some family back then but she’s got Vicki now. In fact, they could have brought Vicki back in 2021 instead of introducing Zack. They could even have used James Farrar as a Spencer recast.

People still whinge about Wadey but I think the show has generally been in good shape since Christmas which was atrocious. There’s been the odd naff story but not like before Christmas when Zoe did the same things every episode. It’s not perfect but it’s also not as bad as people would have you believe. So Priya could now be the pregnant woman in Max’s bed on NYD. There aren’t actually many others currently in the show that could be her. Zoe (she’s disappeared almost completely for someone who was longing to spend time with her abandoned kids. I’m actually not convinced she’ll still be in the show by New Year.) Vicki (possible but unlikely I feel.) Gina (very unlikely and already stated she doesn’t want kids right now.) Jasmine (possible but please no-she has a messy triangle as it is) Unless I’m forgetting someone, Priya is the most likely. Could be Ravi’s baby and she is currently working with Max… Unless they really go for it and make it Stacey.

Living for Kim interrupting conversations to announce her birthday because no one really cares. Though for a minute I thought she was going to do a Will and not appear at all in her birthday episode despite people mentioning it. Zack is quite possibly the most repulsive character in the show right now. His motives for his actions are piss poor. He doesn’t even want Vicki.

Bruno would have been quite high up for me. I was obsessed with it at the time especially after Matt Cardle performed it on X Factor. Katy would have been top 10 for me too. It’s a fun Summer bop. She may have had better on the album but CG did the job and I still like listening to it.

Sharon is more like it! Thrilled that she looks so well too, whatever’s kept her away let’s hope she’s back for good now. I expect she’ll get a massive fine for keeping Albie off school for almost a year. I almost thought Sam was just going to forget about Ricky altogether so at least they got a scene. Surely she’ll be back before long, the audience have reacted so well to her. Zack and Whitney in scenes together is the most hideous thing. They’re both thoroughly awful people. What is Zack even doing? Barney had a great read on him. Michelle has a get out this time as Vicki told her not to bother. She is the woman after all who has only attended one funeral in the past 30 years and it was randomly Abi Branning’s. How about that. Grant and Sharon missing each other by seconds.

The way this post hyped me up for Sharon/Michelle only for it to end up being the one character I never wanted to see again 🙈

Ugh, I would be up for Jenna Russell returning as Michelle but I don’t she’d touch it now after the backlash from last time. Hopefully Julie will be back within the year. They’ll know by now the vibes of the audience, Karen Henthorn has seemed quite into being part of the show and they can easily give time for Julie to go to India and then realise Scotland isn’t the same without Nigel and return just at the moment Phil needs her. The friendship they’ve built there is too good to throw away. I’m guessing Priya keeps wearing that massive coat because the actress is pregnant?

I actually thought Jon Lee was pretty good. He wasn’t given much to do but I didn’t find myself saying ‘lol that’s Jon from S Club’. Mark is a character that needs work. You can’t have him rejecting Grant one minute and then getting involved in gangster rubbish the next. This stuff is not genetic.

Shame Julie does appear to be leaving. There’s definitely room for her in the show. I get the reasoning but given she has a teaching job in London and didn’t they sell the house in Scotland?
