I never said you couldn’t have an opinion, I just said people don’t need to be nasty about it and revel in her flopping. I’m not sure what your last comment means. Why should it be shocking that I stick up for someone whose music I like? Or indeed stick up for any victim of a general pile on? Are you trying to say that because you perceive her as an awful person, you’re assuming I’m an awful person for defending her. I can see that any energy I put into trying to discuss this with you will be wasted.

Oh I see, so that perception of her, someone you don’t know personally, gives people to right to behave as badly as you perceive her to? Generally do better.

I actually feel very sorry for Jess and pretty disappointed in some members here. My copy has just arrived but I’m so busy at work I won’t be able to listen until the weekend (I’ll also be getting Kelly Jones’ album that weekend so quite a bit to look forward to) and obviously it’s clear she isn’t the force she was and won’t be as successful as she has previously been. But this thread is generally quite nasty. Considering how many get upset when there’s a slight criticism of their fave in the chart forum (and I will usually stick up for those people) it’s sad to see so many arrive here to revel in someone’s misfortune and downfall. I know Jess has been difficult to like, I don’t think she’s quite that sharp when it comes to public relations and yes, she made a transphobic slur. It is worth noting that she apologised almost immediately for that and vowed to educate herself-unlike some artists such as Roisin Murphy who still had posters sticking up for her despite doubling down on her transphobia. I don’t think Jess is a bad person deep down but she gets talked about horrendously on here. I usually let it go and just ignore it but I’m having a very hard and stressful week and just felt I had to say something. I imagine I’ll face some flippant remarks for saying so-I’m about as popular as Jess on here. It’s fine to not like an artist or their output but why go out of your way to make nasty comments? Some of the posters doing so always criticise posters for posting negatively about their faves. It’s amazing people can’t see themselves doing it. So I guess, just try and be diplomatic. Some posters have done that very well here but others have not.

Zack cheating with Lauren was just plot driven rubbish to make Whitney into a victim. Again. I properly cringed during the scenes with social services just doing their job with Bianca shouting at them and Whitney acting like no other person in the world knows as much about the condition she first heard of last week as much as she does. But the writing and acting in Yolande and Jean’s scene was superb. It takes a lot of talent to make as scene so moving yet so hilarious at the same time.

I can’t believe it’s taken anyone this long to rumble perpetually shifty Chelsea but that woman is so luck that Krista is one of the most accident prone characters in Neighbours history.

I see they’ve dragged Bianca back to join the Zack pile on and to try and justify awful Whitney.
  7. Matt Cardle was done dirty by almost everyone. Starlight should have been huge.

I’m not sure if it’s the worst story ‘ever’ but it’s extremely poor considering what else it’s playing out alongside. There is nothing good about the story.

I think Jade actually acted the scene with Dean really well.

Whitney and Britney scenes are boring as Hell as it is, I’m going to switch off if we have to see episode after episode of them sat in a long queue for A&E just to satisfy your demands of realism. I’m not sure why you keep demanding that a soap full of non real people in a non real place doing non real things must line up exactly with real life and forgo entertainment whilst at it.

Well, of course everything is now going to be Zack and Lauren’s fault. Whitney never ever puts a foot wrong. She bought a child, she should be heading to prison. I never bought Whitney and Zack as a couple. They were initially so forced and out of nowhere just to give them the Peach storyline and ever since Zack has just been there to prop Whitney up as a saintly character. Making him out to be awful to make her look good. Linda suffered the same fate when she existed just to prop up Mick’s character. I’ll never forget the way Whitney treated Lee when he had depression and how we were all expected to feel sorry for her. Shona is and always will be a fantastic actor but Whitney is a terrible character.

Yes, I’m almost certain that Emma must be involved. It can’t be a long game either since Nadine is supposed to be very pregnant at this point-something she can’t keep up forever. Whitney is already a woeful parent and needs to leave asap.

Return for again confirmed too although I think we already knew of that one. I need Whitney gone soon, she’s such a horrendous character. Feeling for Jay now, it would have been nice for him to finally become a father.
  14. I’ve never been a fan of Taylor, she has some bops but nothing has ever enticed me to listen to an album. Same with Adele, Ed Sheeran and Rihanna in their imperial phases so I guess I just don’t like huge artists  But it’s not hard to see why she’s become so massive. She’s a shrewd business woman who has planned out her rise bit by bit. She doesn’t always succeed, Reputation and Lover set her back slightly as I think she went a bit too hard in those directions at the time but she pulled it back with Folklore and then kept going. She’s a full time celebrity and milks every opportunity. She knows how to capitalise on everything. I do find her a little clinical and planned out and I think that’s part of what I don’t like. Her voice also does nothing for me but it’s all working for others so good for her.

I’ve always said axing Yolande back in 2008 was so unnecessary and Angela Wynter has proven that assertion correct beyond any doubt tonight. What a performance. She’s such an asset to the show. This was an absolutely impeccable episode, the flashbacks were really well done and the scenes with Yolande and Elaine were so well done. I’m so glad to see Elaine stepping up here. I’ve always liked her and assumed that her actions around Linda were a deliberate character flaw and it seems I may have been on the money with that one.

That definitely feels like a premature exit-hard to believe they’ve been back for five years! There’s still so much to do with the character.

Apparently there will be more to this and it all sounds pretty dreadful. I can’t believe things like this still make it in when the rest of the show is pretty strong right now.
  18. In Demand, top 3 there at least if not the very best, not too surprised to see the tasteless wonders kick it out in the second round.

Apparently we will be seeing a permanent return for

A Jane return would be great given how dreadful her exit was last time. She goes away because she’s scared of Max and then doesn’t return when he’s no longer a threat, Ian ignores one phone call because he was distracted by Mel, who’s now been dead almost 5 years, and there’s not even been mention of Bobby going to visit her since he got out even though she’s legally his mother. I think she and Cindy would have issues to sort through as well.

I repeat, if absolute realism is what you want, soaps are not for you. I’m going to keep saying it.
  22. T Boy posted a post in a topic in Television
I have hope but I doubt it’ll happen that we’d get some sort of flashback to Ian and Cindy finding each other again. It’s like the only missing piece.

Bernie and Felix are both excellent at the light relief/every day scenes-not everyone is (the last Johnny being a prime example) and yet they’ve also both proven they can do the strong/emotional scenes too so I’d like to see them get more. It is a worry that they’ll get axed if they continue to stay in the background. I would have put Felix with Johnny already. There’s a lot of potential for drama down the road with their involvements in the Six storyline. There currently isn’t anyone to put with Bernie-they could do with plugging the young female queer gap they currently have in the show.

But Ian’s fingerprints at least will also be on the tarp! Possibly even Cindy’s, Peter’s, Bobby’s, any number of people may have touched it for whatever reason. It’s hardly conclusive. I did think after Wednesday, they may set Dean up as a fall guy for the murder but not sure now.

If you want absolute realism, the soap genre is not for you. It’s been said before and will be said again. I’m loving the drama of it all. Sharon being so afraid of Karen that she inadvertently drops herself in it. Bernie telling her she’ll pay when the real murderer is standing right behind her. Brilliant. Bernie and Felix are brilliant characters.
