EastEnders
Jay has stood by them all after so much worse. The ‘not caring’ thing they have going on doesn’t come across as real. Another observation is that no one gave this much of a shit for Chantelle’s kids and ‘being there’ for them back when she died.

Neighbours
She was as she said. She was playing with Callum and Hugo. Toadie and Sonya watched them playing from afar as Sonya died in his arms.

I actually feel this is picking up quite a bit now in terms of quality. Reece’s story is getting pretty interesting even though Mischa Barton still acts like she’s in another room. Probably ill judged to squeeze a half hearted tribute to a character vacuum like Britney into an episode that so heavily featured references to Sonya’s death-gah, it’s too soon to revisit those clips, I forgot how realistic it was! And I also need drunk Jane to appear frequently.

So much info  will be good to go in thoroughly unspoiled.

Now That's What I Call Music! Thread [Part 6]
Not sure with Annie Lennox. It even states in the booklet that no singles were released from the album. I do think these and the Year Books focus a lot on having ‘big name’ artists on them so perhaps that’s why.

EastEnders
I don’t want EE to be a horror drama.

EastEnders
Yes but if she came back and murdered them, she’d be straight back into prison. Plus I’m not sure I want those characters to die. The whole idea is absolutely horrendous.

EastEnders
I hope not, that would be absolutely ridiculous.

EastEnders
I had a feeling that would happen given that Linda’s part in the Six was still not clear. Now all of the potential victims I posted back on the airing of the flashforward are now in play, except Stacey’s as I predicted Ryan before Theo turned up. But if a cop out if this one is the victim though, back for 2 months only.

Now That's What I Call Music! Thread [Part 6]
That last point is pretty much not picking random years out of a hat. Meh, I think people are taking this a little to heart. To me, the numbered Nows have declined in line with the chart itself. It’s been boring and slow moving for years and Now don’t have much to choose from especially when certain artists are holding tracks back. This wasn’t a problem back in the old days as there were still enough hits to go around. I adore the 1998 Nows even though they were missing Celine Dion, Madonna, Five, B*Witched, Pras Michel and Savage Garden. Ditto all the Nows from 2003 though they couldn’t get Christina Aguilera, Avril Lavigne, Dido, The Darkness, Delta Goodrem, Evanescence or Sean Paul. The CDs were still strong but that’s just impossible now. And it’s not really Nows fault, the world has moved on and both compilation albums and the charts being relevant are now things of the past. Now 116 still probably represents 2023 a bit better than the year end chart will. It isn’t surprising at all that they put out the Year Books like they do. Nostalgia is selling, particularly in the bleak world we’re living in. Honestly I’ve given way more spins to Now 02-03 these past few weeks than I did to Now 115 in the Summer.

The Tory fibs and fabrishications thread, Mk III
I see Gillian Keegan also plans to bring in minimum service levels for teachers in order to prevent striking in the future. This is an alternative to paying education staff properly, funding schools properly and being generally grateful for those that have remained in the sector. This government are disgusting.

It’s alright I guess.

Now That's What I Call Music! Thread [Part 6]
Wow at Madonna finally making the numbered series, though it does feel like a bit of a non event given it wasn’t a massive hit.

EastEnders
I kind of need Ian, Sharon and Kathy to ge permanently drunk tbh. I keep forgetting that Suki is supposed to be losing her hair given that she still seems to have really thick, full hair.

EastEnders
In fairness, that’s pretty much how every teen starts. I’ve just watched Lola’s beginnings on EE 2011 and people said the same of her at the time. They’ll give her some trauma and she’ll be a sad sack in no time.

EastEnders
The Sharon/Keanu story is completely plot driven. It exists to give Sharon a possible body for the Six storyline. I dare say that is the only reason Keanu was brought back and that, even if he isn’t the body at Christmas, he’ll be gone not long after with his mum. The relationship doesn’t work anymore. It was great back in 2018 when Sharon was trapped in a loveless marriage and Keanu was a pretty nice character. But they’ve been through too much since. Keanu has been shaped by everything that happened after and is now a lot more bitter which is understandable. But he hasn’t matured, if anything he’s more immature than he was as a teenager, entitled and childish. It’s come to the point that there is no reason, beyond a physical one, that Sharon would want to go there. Sharon has also been through so much. She dealt with the loss of her son, became a mother again, discovered new family and built up a business, not to mention going down a dark and vengeful path herself and coming out the other side. She isn’t trapped with a man who doesn’t appreciate her anymore and she’s not dependent on anyone else. She’s in a completely different place so it’s no longer understandable why she’d go there emotionally. If anything, Keanu is a reminder of arguably the worst time of her life. I want Sharon to have more screen time with Ian. Their one scene so far was such a cop out. And why hasn’t she had a proper interaction with Cindy yet?

The Vinyl Thread
Picked up the Corrs and Lighthouse Family today- I do want more but I’ll have to wait until I’m paid! I did have a £25 voucher for my birthday from my sister for a second hand record store near me and this morning I picked up Tin Planet by Space-continuing the 90s theme! It must have been a copy from 1998 as I’m not sure there been a release recently-and it’s signed by the band too!

Mr Brightside revealed as UK's most streamed song in Spotify
What is it with posters on this site always wanting to accuse other people of ‘hating success’ when they don’t automatically prefer the most successful songs to other songs? It’s absolutely nauseating. I already said that I liked Mr Brightside, heck I used to love it. I loved it when I first heard it on the chart show back in 2004, I loved it going to parties in the mid to late 2000s where it felt like a bit of a cult hit after not being a big chart hit. It was one of the many great songs by the Killers and at the time it wasn’t necessarily their signature hit. But as time goes on and it gets overplayed, it’s easy to lose love for it. Particularly now when streaming has made the increasingly boring listening habits of the general public even more apparent. I’ll still dance to it on a night out when drunk with friends and I’ll listen when giving Hot Fuss a spin. But I wouldn’t ever seek it out to listen to anymore which is a shame.

The Corrs - Best Of The Corrs
I thought Borrowed Heaven blended the pop and Irish stuff quite well-it’s in my top 3 of theirs with Talk On Corners and White Light which do pretty similar. Jupiter Calling was dull, but I don’t put nails in coffins for artists I like. I’ll listen to the output before expressing an opinion based on one or two albums and applying it to every album thereafter without even giving it a go. But that’s just me.

Swearing on NOW albums
Just Like A Pill would lose some effect without the word bitch in it. It was always in the radio edit as I recall.
-
Paloma Faith - The Glorification of Sadness
She’s big on the unflattering close up pose going off this and the last one. Looking forward to the album though.
-
The Corrs - Best Of The Corrs
In Blue was their only totally pop album though so it was hardly ‘from album 3 on’. Borrowed Heaven was quite poppy but there was plenty of the Irish sound. Home was most definitely not a pure pop album.

Mr Brightside revealed as UK's most streamed song in Spotify
To clarify why I mentioned other Killers song, I like Mr Brightside a lot but they have so much more. It’s a shame to see that song as the most streamed and yet not see the Killers feature in the most streamed artists lists.
