EastEnders
Bobby Beale is actually played by a very talented actor who has completely transformed the role and managed to humanise a child killer in adulthood, something that actually happened even before a competent producer joined the show. And given you think Mischa Barton is some sort of acting guru, I don’t really trust you to judge anyone’s acting. And you do realise that Stacey isn’t a gimmick character, right? She’s been in the show almost 20 years and has had some great development in that time. Theo may not seem physically threatening but it’s been psychological which is just as damaging. Stacey has been abused by men before and is currently living with three children and a grandchild all under the age of 16 and she has been separated from her children twice over the past ten years when serving jail time she wouldn’t want to risk again. One of her children has also already lost his father. She has been broken by this treatment from Theo. This storyline has absolute depth, something Stacey’s storylines had been missing for so long. But I also feel to make light of Stacey’s situation and claim it’s unrealistic flies in the face of women who have been stalked and abused in real life. It can happen to anyone, even to men. People can be destroyed by psychological abuse but would you dare say to a woman ‘you’re harder than that man so why didn’t you just deck him’? Would you even think to say that to a real person who was the victim of abuse? You champion yourself as the ultimate feminist and yet you’re almost making like of a woman’s suffering? Honestly, your observations of the show are so vacuous, you may as well not bother.

The UK and transphobia
And the prime minister has literally come out as a huge transphobe in his speech. He makes me sick.

EastEnders
Agreed this episode was amazing. The Theo story has hit so much better since the truth was revealed, I had been finding it ridiculous read Stacey hadn’t found him creepy earlier.

Predict: Ed Sheeran - Autumn Variations
This exactly. Even this release doesn’t feel authentic to me as it’s all played out the way I think he wanted it to. Some will say he just wants to be ‘good at his job’ but to me that would require having much more depth than Ed is capable of.

The UK and transphobia
This is so worrying, I just despair. Why aren’t they concerned for the dignity of trans women? Or trans men for that matter?

Neighbours
There’s enough to keep me interested I think. I do think it’s difficult to come back after a cancellation or something similar. I remember it took me a while to get back into the groove with my other soaps, Eastenders and Pobol y Cwm, when they came back after lockdown. Apparently we are due a flashback week to fill in some of the gaps which I think will help and I think the school story is meant to be a pretty big one. It does feel a bit like we’ve missed all the interesting stuff offscreen which is weirdly how the Star Wars sequel trilogy felt.

EastEnders
Yes I forgot to post, what a brilliant episode. Great episode for Bobby Brazier as well.

2023 year to date estimates
High key ridiculous that Trustfall is out of the top 20 albums because of GH playlists.

Predict: Ed Sheeran - Autumn Variations
I still think it’d be foolish to assume this apparent decline hasn’t been orchestrated by Ed himself. He could probably still get the high sales if he put the effort into choosing singles, sticking to a pop sound and promoting the album. But he’s trying to come across as a more authentic artist for his image. And it seems to be working, like pretty much everything else he does.

So one of the confirmed returns is and I’m still pissed they can’t bring back the superior

I’m not the one who’s been twisting the narrative though. You’ve only been selectively reading my posts so you can have a dig. All I’ve been doing is explaining that Ed is probably underperforming by his own design. For some reason you decided to mock my initial post and imply that what I said was ridiculous, possibly because you’re thin skinned to criticism of Ed.

Streaming Services Chart Discussion
I’m not though. I’m telling it as I see it. He can do what he wants but it isn’t for me. But I guess I could turn this around and say that what you’re suggesting is that artists less successful aren’t trying hard enough at their jobs. That Ed somehow deserves his success more than others. Anywho, trying to be successful at your job can be subjective. Perhaps artists who feel more accomplished artistically feel more successful in their job than someone who sold out to get ahead. This is the same in any workplace.

Streaming Services Chart Discussion
What I hate about the Sheeran fanatics is that they don’t actually read your posts, they just decide what you said and then attempt to mock you for saying something you didn’t. I didn’t say there was necessarily anything wrong with Ed being a chameleon, I just simply stated that that’s what he is. If success and adoration is all he’s after, it’s brilliant and he’s done very well with it. But to me he comes across far from authentic and I can’t invest in an artist like that. Many artists garner this success whilst caring about their music and others struggle whilst remaining true to themselves. But Ed I feel is just that narcissistic that he only really cares about the way he is perceived.

Ed could probably make this album smash if he wanted to. He’s quite deliberately going quiet for this one probably because he’s once again responding to his critics. It’s like when he suddenly came out as a chart geek when Bad Habits was released because until then he didn’t quite have the chart geeks onside. The latest criticism has been that he’s obsessed with his own success and this is his way of proving he isn’t.

Anastacia - Our Songs
Ok considering it’s limited release. Will have barely sold anything though.

Dido - Life For Rent
This was one of the very first albums I owned. It’s an absolute masterpiece and takes me back to some special times in my life. It’s no secret that I absolutely adore this woman and every single track here has a special meaning for me. I love she’s acknowledged this anniversary even though it now being 20 years old makes me feel ancient (turning 35 yesterday helps with that  ) A new vinyl rerelease would be very much appreciated!

My god has this woman no self awareness at all?

The Tory fibs and fabrishications thread, Mk III
It wasn’t going to connect with Wales at all but we’re still helping to pay for it.

Neighbours
If this is looking like an ending of sorts for Harold, I hope they get Sky back for it, not least so that she can appear as Sky again rather than the Robocop she was last time. Intrigued as to what will happen with Mike and Jane.

EastEnders
Has he not noticed that the quality of the show sky rocketed once he left. He even made Janine almost boring. The storylines were shot for years because they were always trying prop Mick/Danny up as some sort of legendary character when he was absolutely crap. Does anyone even miss him from the show? I don’t think so. He was what was holding the show back for years and now he’s gone it’s like it can breathe again. Given that Cindy’s return has solidified the idea that no body=not dead, I hate that his ending was so open ended. He should never ever return.

Would have expected Pop Ya Collar to be higher.

Neighbours
Omg I recently revisited that storyline whilst watching the classic episodes. I can’t believe how many episodes were dedicated to it. I also realised that whilst Nell was one of the most indulged children I’ve ever seen, every scene seemed to be Toadie and Sonya palming her off on someone else so maybe she wasn’t that spoilt.

Doctor Who • 2023-
Nice to know you’re going to give the new Doctor and his companion a chance x

Louise - Greatest Hits
Given their past behaviour (treatment of Kelle) it doesn’t come too much as a surprise that they’re both TERFs. Disappointing.

Anastacia - Our Songs
I know everyone’s obsessing over Kylie this week but my cd and vinyl of Our Songs arrived yesterday and I’m loving it. Can’t get enough of her voice, she could be singing the phone book and I’d listen.
