Southport Tragedy / Subsequent racist attacks
Explain how you think things would have panned out differently if this information had all been released. Try and do so without saying ‘here’s an article’.

EastEnders
It’s not even anniversary week and yet nostalgia is everywhere. If you’d told me a few years ago I’d be watching Grant, Nigel, Bianca and Yolande all back and as part of really good storylines, I’m not sure I’d have believed you. Teddy I don’t mind but he is the weak link in the new Mitchells and they’ve barely bothered to develop the relationship between him and Sharon. She’ll have a quick bonk with Grant on the kitchen floor, pout through the fall out and then be back with Phil within the year, I’d imagine.

I could accept that Michelle foolishly fell for the flattery of a younger man. It’s not that different from what happened with Keanu and Sharon-but where Michelle had come from it was illegal and also inappropriate wherever you’re from given she was his teacher. A foolish mistake, come up from boredom with her life and the feeling of aging I could have bought-in fact, that’s all I thought it was when Michelle first revealed it. Doing something like that was absolutely in character with original Michelle. But it was when the boy came over and she still perused it-that crossed all the lines and I think viewers had in in for her from then on.

Southport Tragedy / Subsequent racist attacks
I’m not sure giving the public more information right there and then would have changed anything. The morons still would have rioted no matter what information was at their disposal.

The Nigel stuff has been so great, what a coup to get Paul Bradley back! Strong players like Linda and Yolande getting involved is exactly what was needed!

EastEnders
Now THAT was an aftermath! Compare it to the 35th anniversary when Sharon got 2 30 second scenes straight after her son died. Lessons have been learned. Still amusing how no one is referring to Julia by her name. I wonder how long that will go on for

EastEnders
Makes sense for her to be back. It would have been more unrealistic than Michelle not being there. She was a right drip of a character though so not the most exciting return.

EastEnders
This Vicki looks a lot like Sue Tully whereas the previous one looked more like Jenna Russell

EastEnders
They should have recast Vikki ages ago so this is promising. Shame there’ll be no Michelle though, a hill I will die on is that Jenna Russell was actually great as Michelle and that it was the storylines that greatly let her down. Another hill I will die on is that the Susan Tully version was irritating and overrated.

Louisa trying to upstage Lacey and falling flat.

EastEnders
I’m guessing they wrote that in because they’d already been planning this. Short term it works. Big name death, big aftermath, reasons for Ruby, Stacey and Sonia to disappear. But like with Denny and Lucy, even Steven and Abi, will it be worth it in the long run? Out of those, only Lucy’s death is still affecting storylines and the others feel like a waste.

Of course, Martin also dying 40 years to the day Arthur and Pauline were informed they were expecting. I won’t hold out much hope for the funeral. Michelle really should be there as it’s such a bad look to miss the funerals of all of your immediate family. Just get Jenna Russell back if you have to! Also Bex should also be there. It also makes sense why they bothered to bring Ruby back. Once they’d decided he was dying, they couldn’t leave that thread hanging.

I’m still not sure about killing Martin. It’s done now, but they’ve made these kind of mistakes before. I didn’t vote but I guessed Denise would pick Jack and that Sonia would call the baby Julia. I wonder how they’ll get around not mentioning any of that for a few weeks.

Neighbours
The Sun broke it last time so it’s probably true. They didn’t really do enough to keep it. It’s been really boring for some time now. I don’t think they made the most of the second chance they got and it’s almost like it wasn’t worth reviving despite there being some big highlights.

Angie Watts! Very well done! Reiss’ death was so apt. The way it had to be. Phil, Linda and Nigel just made me want to cry, excellent stuff. I think Martin is dying which makes me annoyed at Stacey. I’m not feeling this at all. I don’t think Martin would be a wise choice for a death long term, it’s just another funeral Michelle won’t turn up for.

The Cindy stuff is really very weak. Adam Woodyatt is single handedly keeping that part together. It didn’t feel like it was Kathy, even Ian figured out it should have been Peter. Such a damp squib reveal. Also, Cindy is being given terrible lines and Michelle Collins really isn’t strong enough to pull them off. I know many have tired of the Reiss storyline but at least it’s been exciting since Sonia and Bianca came back. The stunt was good and there’s so much danger for tomorrow. Sharon going upstairs was a sign of something bad happening as was pregnant Sonia and Lauren putting themselves out of sight. I’m also concerned for Martin as he’s had an awful lot of focus recently-though I was glad to hear him tell Stacey like it is-I hope they’d learn from past mistakes not to kill him off. The Phil stuff has been brilliant too.

I didn’t clock Kat either in the episode. She’ll surely be around this week. Bianca and Grant was an interaction people have waited for for nearly 26 years and was so well done. Nice to see some reflection about Tiffany and good to see Grant interacting with plenty of characters. His last stint was so isolated he didn’t even get scenes with Ronnie and Roxy. Also good to see Pearl’s 10th birthday acknowledged and wonder if Albie might get a similar scene for his fifth. All the signs seem to point to Peter being the attacker-but Cindy aiming the gun threw me slightly as I’m not sure she’d do that if it were him. Maybe it’s someone like Kathy or Lauren holding the locket?

Now That's What I Call Music! [Part 7]
As it mentions in the booklet, this year was all about being Irish or Scandinavian.

The BRIT Awards 2025
I know the categories are there but just a few years ago they literally read out all the international winners in one thirty second great without even mentioning the nominees and that did feel like sidelining.

EastEnders
Not sure this is a character assassination for Sonia tbh. She’s largely been awful throughout her tenure, it’s only the last 5/6 years where they started writing her like some hilarious icon. She’s known for some massive stories from 20 years ago but having rewatched her entire first stint recently on the Drama channel, she was always misguided, stubborn, rude, never thinking she has to listen to anyone else, selfish and always making massive mistakes. This latest story slots right in with that. And just remember, until last week, she hadn’t seen the side of Reiss we’ve seen for months and, in all fairness, Bianca and Lauren have largely been unreliable loudmouths throughout their time on the show. And remember, Natalie didn’t quit over this storyline, the storyline developed because she quit.

Now That's What I Call Music! [Part 7]
Loving the 98 yearbook-such an amazing year! Can’t wait for the Extra.

Minty and Garry actually slotted back in quite well, shame it was just an episode. Would have perhaps been nice to get a Heather mention.

The BRIT Awards 2025
I know it’s called the Brits but that doesn’t mean that international artists should be barred from awards that don’t contain the word ‘British’. Whatever excuses people can make, the international awards/artists have been sidelined a lot in the last decade or so. And in particularly, I find the constant questioning of P!nk winning a big award snobbery especially when it’s always presented with a criticism of the fact she’s not British.

EastEnders
Omg I was so bored with this a week ago but they’ve ramped it up so far this week! I was enjoying Priya and Ian’s interactions so a little disappointed she’s a Cindy pawn.

The BRIT Awards 2025
People always want to drag P!nk for this but U2 won it in 2001 so she wasn’t the first non British act to win. I do hate the snobbery of the Brits that they’re always so focused on British acts and do their best to ignore anyone non British. Award ceremonies in other countries don’t seem to have the same attitude, says it all about the UK I guess…
