The first song relating to gay equality was Macklemore's Same Love, which went to #1 twice earlier this year (rap #1s are rare in this chart). It is currently cumulative #2 of this year, and the biggest English rap song ever.

You Have More Friends Than You Know was a song written about a play about the It Gets Better Campaign. One of the original writers, Jeff Marx, also released his own version. So the Glee version is a cover - one that is more well known than the original. It is the second song relating to gay equality and acceptance to top these charts in 2013.

Top 3 #1s of the Best Performing Artist
This is a thread for sharing the top songs from the Best Performing Artists on our charts. Mine is Taylor Swift (19 #1s). Here are my favourites from her: #1: The Best Day (Jenienland end of year chart #3, 2009) Being a fan of her music generally, it might surprise you that this is the only Taylor song that I can personally identify with. It's a shame that it was never formally released as a single or was more popular. I have even done a cover of this, dedicated to my own mother. #2: Love Story (Jenienland end of year chart #9, 2008) The first Taylor song I really loved. I mean, Teardrops on my Guitar was pretty good, but this was the one which made me really look out for Taylor's releases going forward. It was also her first #1 from me. #3: Fifteen A great song with a great message. Enough said.
