TARAELLA PRINCESS'S SPIRIT CHART 19 MAY 2018 Brought to you by the Princess's Spirit (explained here http://bit.ly/1tLfKt4 ) I. MESSAGE OF THE WEEK Is there Cultural Appropriation everywhere, from Utah to Eurovision? I don't think so. Israel's Netta has won Eurovision with her great song Toy. But this victory was not without controversy: as you see, she dressed in an Asian-styled costume, and her stage was decorated with Asian items. This has predictably caused some people to cry 'cultural appropriation'. Read more here http://dlvr.it/QTMn8d II. CHARTBEAT 1. Jessica Mauboy's We Got Love may have received the least audience votes in Eurovision, but it has come out on top in these charts. It is also Mauboy's biggest hit on these charts since Night Of My Life in 2006. 2. Meanwhile, American Idol's Gabby Barrett, perhaps the current favourite to win (according to multiple sources), scores her first top 3. 3. Another Idol contestant, Maddie Poppe, also has two entries in the top 10, including her cover of Carrie Underwood's I Told You So, which was 2009's second biggest song. III. ELITE TOP 5 1. Jessica Mauboy - We Got Love (4 days #1) 2. Ryan O'Shaugnessy - Together 3. Gabby Barrett - I Have Nothing 4. Sugarland and Taylor Swift - Babe (2 days #1) (My review: http://dlvr.it/QSqpNv ) 5. TARAELLA PRINCESS'S SPIRIT CHART 5 MAY 2018 Brought to you by the Princess's Spirit (explained here http://bit.ly/1tLfKt4 ) I. MESSAGE OF THE WEEK American Idol is not Discriminatory Last week on American Idol, the elimination of contestants Ada Vox and Michelle Sussett caused predictable outrage. Accusations of homophobia (in the case of Vox, a drag queen) and racism (in the case of Sussett) came flying through social media platforms. For long time fans of Idol, there is indeed nothing new here. Read more here http://dlvr.it/QRmdgQ II. CHARTBEAT 1. You Are The Reason is this week's chart topper. It is also Leona Lewis's first number one in more than six years. 2. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift's Delicate has dropped out of the top 20 after a relatively short run. Read my review here: http://dlvr.it/QQZWHw 3. Camila Cabello's Havana remains the longest running chart hit, now in its ninth month on the chart. III. ELITE TOP 5 1.
