It's just not Croatia's day today. Player gets fouled before he can tap in to an empty net, penalty gets given and is then saved by the keeper before they actually score partly from the resulting rebound and then it gets chalked off.

Yamal has been the man of the match so far! Never seen him play before but if this is a sign of how he can perform then he'll be right up as one of best prospects for the future.
  3. He's actually younger than the captain and a number of other players in the Brighton squad. This is a recipe for disaster in my opinion.
  4. Brighton have appointed 31 year old Fabian Hurzeler as their new manager making him the youngest full time manager in Premier League history.

It's all about damage limitation now for Scotland.
  6. The 2022 World Cup honestly feels like a blur. Being held in the middle of the regular club football season, in the winter time and with most of the matches happening during working hours it just feels like it didn't even happen. The final though was an all time great! I think this tournament will feel different but still compared to some other Euro tournaments over the years it doesn't feel like there has been a lot of build up and hype prior to the tournament.

Happy with Netherlands. If they play to their potential they could go very far indeed!
  9. Really enjoying this countdown so far! This thread has reminded me that France benefited twice from the golden goal rule at the perfect stage to do so at Euro 2000.

This group is probably the most open in the whole tournament. Portugal are the most likely to top the group but they won't win it comfortably, I think Czech Republic and Turkey will have a good chance of progressing. Would love to see another match as entertaining at their Euro 2008 encounter!

This group will be a walk in the park for Belgium. Nailed on 9 points for them. 2nd place could be more open than in most other groups but Ukraine to just about take it. The 3rd place team here could possibly take the last remaining knockout place.

France and Netherlands are going to bully this group tbh and it will be reminiscent of when they were in the same group at Euro 2000. Only difference is this time I think France will end up on top. For some reason I can imagine at this time Poland Vs Austria being a 0-0 draw. Whoever gets 3rd here wont have enough to make it to the knockout stage.

England to win the group and as Dobbo said earlier without without getting 9 points from 9. I can't ever remember a tournament, World Cup or Euros where they won all group stage matches. Perhaps this is an example of the kind of killer instinct that has been missing for the past 58 years. Denmark should get 2nd and run England close for top spot, I think Slovenia could get a draw against Serbia to get at least a point otherwise they'll go home with nothing.

Spain and Croatia to be the top 2 here with Spain toppping the group. Italy to take 3rd and Albania to go home with nil points.

In years gone by you would say Germany will easily dominate this group but I'm not so sure now. I would still expect them to top the group but don't think they will get maximum points. I actually think Scotland could have a chance of getting 2nd or 3rd here then we'll see how the rankings go after that.

Kobbie Mainoo is one of the best young players in English football. He's produced good performances on a regular basis this season and has more composure at 19 than most players far older than him. He's not the reason why England can't beat Iceland.

  18. For the knockout stage matches once they arrive is it the score at 90 minutes that will count?
  19. No surprise Jack Grealish got left out of the final squad for the Euros. I said it last year that he'd be living off winning the treble with City for the rest of his career, also Jeremy Doku has well and truly put him in his place this season.
  20. Ok thanks. That is quite a quirky statistic given how long he's been doing this for!
  21. Has any of Eminem's UK #1 singles ever spent more than one week at number one in the chart?
  22. Happy to win this competition! Thanks Mack for organising this.

Dortmund were unlucky to lose as they were the better team for the majority of the match but they were not clinical enough and once the first Madrid goal went in it was only going to end one way. With Kylian Mbappé likely to join them in the summer Real Madrid will take some stopping for next season.

It would be nice for Dortmund to win but Real Madrid are machines when it comes to Champions League finals and the way they've made it to the final only points towards a Madrid victory tonight.
  25. Final: Saturday 1st June: Borussia Dortmund 1-3 Real Madrid
