  1. My point, which some other posts have hinted at but not said outright, but which I'm not intimidated to say outright, is that polls that show X% of people support something don't actually mean anything if the people that support it are stupid, because they don't actually have an informed opinion on the topic. You can take a stupid person and just tell them what to think or how to vote and they will. You don't need to justify it to them or even ask them to justify it before they do it. And in my opinion, that's a problem. Anyone making any decision should do so with at least a baseline understanding of what that decision will mean and what the impact will be on themself if not also on the people immediately around them and their community. This is the justification given to witholding the vote from teenagers and children; but it appears that adults who might actually have a lower grasp on reality than some teenagers or children are apparently fair game.
  2. I just found out Arrietty is 28! The immaturity was maybe excusable in a properly young person but that's just a yikes
  3. Doh, I didnt see the submissions thread :3
  4. All this started by stupid people thinking they're smart and getting equal influence to people who aren't idiots. Even now there's a sense that we should 'respect' idiots. Well, I don't.
  5. One word, oof. Maybe the worst SG flops since S4? In terms of the sheer number that totally flubbed it. Even the winner didn't really have any character specific references.
  6. People are normal-washing Trump's Presidential address being interrupted by Musk who spoke over him, Musk having also brought his pre-school aged child into the room. This is being described as cute and endearing instead of bizarre and alarming.
  7. Yes, Melinda is the obvious winner out of this cast for me. I think it's a mistake for Zahirah to go back this soon, as for Sminty, I wish her the best but this also feels like a move of desperation with everything she's been saying online about not being able to get gigs and her post-Drag Race career not going how she expected. Dovima is an unhinged pick but I feel like she might pick up loads of fans if she can speak English with a 'sexy accent' like LGD does.
  8. I have to agree. The last UK vs the World pretty much showed you can be the best at drag and have a unique POV and be as good at all the skills it tests on in your native language, but that doesn't matter as much as being able to speak English like a native. I also don't get the impression Kate Butch wants to win so it would be quite funny if she ended up winning by default!
  9. I have to agree, Arietty was the only one with three good looks. Hormona was unlucky to bottom here, I kinda suspect that her package might have more variety to it if she posts it as the weeks go on. Felt like they just didn't have much interest in her storyline and she wasn't gelling with the other girls but also wasn't starting drama with them.
  10. Earlier than I expected, doh
  11. I have a Meg the Stallion flavoured entry
  12. I cannot believe the depth of that lie of the cost of the Chagos deal! Thanks for the breakdown Iz

Season 2 is going great. It's really hit its stride and I'm loving the personality of some of the new Glads (Legend, Sabre, Cyclone, Diamond...) I thought the husband and wife would get favouritism too but nope! Still think a female co-host would be better than Bradley's son though.
  14. This cast looks STACKED Soa again Magnetica! she's definitely not early out this time Moon my QUEEN I hope they have a good format. I wouldn't hate this season being non elim even though that's unlikely
  15. The only people whose lives are worth anything are white English people, silly /s
  16. You're not pro or anti Trump but you also are pro a lot of things his administration does and not anti any of it... My dude you are deceiving yourself.
  17. Also kind of curious why your default position seems to be defending Trump. The leader of a nation you don't even live in.
  18. Curious what you mean by manufactured hysteria.
  19. A nice spread of results this time x
  20. Drag Race twists flopping is getting to be the most consistent thing about the seasons these days The potions last season meant nothing. The gag cast of Sugar & Spice both flopped. The chocolate bar save impact was lessened after it came after two previous double save episodes (4 if you count the talent show return)
  21. I should note for fairness that this government is also probably around where I sit in terms of political affiliation and I would say is significantly LESS authoritarian than my tastes tend to run - before anyone comes along with the critique that I must just be a lefty Labour lover or whatever. I'm commenting, as I often do on news stories, as someone who is against things being framed in a way that is misleading and/or is presenting a political agenda (in this case, 'that Labour is just as bad on every metric as Sunak's government') as if it were an established fact rather than just one person's opinion or the opinions of a group of people who were asked a survey with leading questions. The fact is Starmer's Labour since they got in has had a hell of a lot of bad press BUT if you cut through that to what they've actually done and view it with an open mind really it's not actually that bad no matter what your views are, I would say. They HAVENT been particularly extreme in, as I say, ways that I would love to be if I was in their shoes. They haven't even been vengeful or cronyist in a way that the Johnson, Truss and Sunak governments - and the Trump administration in America - did their damnedest to normalise.
  22. God this is going to be a really strange cast at this rate. Rumours are however that there is a strong queen that nobody has clocked yet. I wonder if it could be a Holland girl again.
  23. For what its worth, I have zero issues with most of what Starmer has done. Most of these 'issues' seem to boil down to a mix of a) people have forgotten what an actual governing government looks like and things take time b) bad faith arguing to try and make Labour look as bad as literal traitors and compleely incompetent idiots and c) media that is used to catering for a retired audience throwing an absolute shit fit when Labour "cut winter fuel" which leaves out the fact that they also put the pension up £600 on last year which more than covers the amount "lost". To be honest I would actually enjoy even more of a redistribution. So Tory voters and rightwingers are mad? Tough titties. The rest of us have had their will enforced on us for 14 years. Personally I would love it if the absolute opposite of what they would like was enforced on them. They're lucky Starmer's government isn't extreme enough to want to do that. Regarding the disability and not helping minorities. That is a misfire & missed opportunity in my book. They should take advantage of their majority instead of chasing the middle on every possible issue. Some is sensible. But broadly I think they are being over-criticized.
  24. What an interesting set of views you have Liam. Feels like it is just to disagree with whatever the prevailing view on the thread is.
  25. Fwiw I tend to agree with Silas
