honestly I've been loving Tennis this year, they were basically a one hit wonder on my charts literally 10y ago and then I never liked anything else they did, but they have dropped a raft of good tracks lately! At the Wedding is another

Alison Goldfrapp - Flux
1) I'm surprised she's doing a second solo album 2) I look forward to it 3) I'll end up disappointed if Tales of Us (2013) ends up as the last acoustic project Alison makes, her synthy work is good but the folky stuff is my absolute fave

UK Local Elections 2025
Farage already being allowed to spin this as if it was a Parliamentary election victory 'Reform are the official opposition now' - no you're not.

UK Local Elections 2025
Feels wild that the news is going on and on about Labour losses as if that was the biggest story here when the Tories have lost NEARLY 700 SEATS which almost exactly maps to Reform's gain. That is, rightwingers have shifted their vote from the rightwing party with the Black woman leader to the one with the older white man leader. This is being treated as some kind of shocking turn with no way to explain why it could be; how have LABOUR SPECIFICALLY failed when it seems likely that if anything (some of) their voters have shifted to Lib Dem and Green.

Total bangers not on streaming that DIDN'T get to #1
Very niche but a particular version of 'Boss Man' by Sean Paul & Lady Saw that I remember from a compilation album. In the version on spotify, their verses are exchanged in order which changes the whole flow of the song.

UK Local Elections 2025
Who knew after three to six months of the media saying "wow, looks like Reform are making waves as a great new option to vote for! Let's talk lots about reasons people like them and never question their leaders in detail on their policies and how they're going to make them happen!" a large group of people took away the message 'you may as well vote for Reform, they're a good alternative and there's nothing alarming in their policies otherwise the news would've talked about it' Just like how a plurality of the public oppose(d) gay people being treated with respect and dignity while the media monopoly treated them as perverts and paedophiles trying to corrupt society and harm your children, and then switched over to a live & let live attitude as soon as they dropped that angle. People believe what they're told by authority.

The Middle East Today
Not to be an enormous pessimist but I don't know why people are still acting like a two state solution is likely? Israel means to destroy Palestine and genocide anybody remaining there. Is that not obvious at this point? I feel like everyone is always talking around it as if it wasn't expressly obvious that that is what's happening and all the 'pauses' etc. are just a sadist's idea of letting them think they're safe like a cat playing with a mouse before killing it.

UK Local Elections 2025
I'll give this to Reform, they have good branding and know how to play the game. They give the media what they want, and you bet your bottom dollar behind the scenes Farage is throwing his money about and lobbying to get favourable coverage. That's the one thing they have bang on, that the old rules of engagement don't exist any more. Most of the other parties are playing to represent themselves the best and use their policies and candidates to try and sway voters their way; Reform (and other Farage outfits) have always played to win by hook or by crook, in the full knowledge that this is rewarded by the media and there's no strict rules against it in the country or in Parliament.

UK Local Elections 2025
But that would involve having some perspective and not being a faux-centrist who only ever criticises non-rightwing parties. Honestly, it's absolute bullshit. Nobody seems to realise that YOU ARE THE ADULTS IN THE ROOM AND YOU SET THE AGENDA.

By-elections 2024 (Part 2)
Just like Trump, i feel that the media is bending over backwards in general/on aggregate to sanewash Reform, its policies, leadership and claims. This isn't a political party. Its a membership-paying cult that - just like Farage's past outfits - faces a suspicious lack of high-profile scrutiny or burden of proof on any of its claims or strategies. My perspective is: believe what you like. I'm certainly not as far left as some posters. But, if you're voting for someone because you want them to enact certain policies that are dear to your heart or central to your belief system or philosophy, take into account their track record of what they have actually DONE in the past and what the outcome has been, rather than riding on claims of a never-ending what if. Farage is a multi-millionaire who's been on this earth six decades. What's his history of tangible achievements, and how does it compare or contrast to the damage he's done? How does he elevate and center those who vote for him and deliver them measurable benefits? These are the kinds of things that should sway your vote moreso than promises that seem to be a perfect solve, almost too good to be true.

Now or Never is so good I've never much cared for Mistress Violet (apols) & sending a former BJSC winner felt a little cheap 😵 Certainly look forward to running these more than once! We will need an 'entry history' page @Calum

And all because the lady loves (Lib Dems thread)
I've genuinely never come across people playing things on the bus or train. If it isn't over the volume of a conversation, I don't really see the issue? I've never understood the British attitude towards a preference for a perfectly silent commute or travel, personally. Clearly people feel strongly about it though?

SPOILERS | RPDR | All Stars
Maybe it was set up for someone else, who ended up not being dominant enough. I would guess either Bosco, Irene, Mistress - or potentially Detox as an outside choice, as they had tried to have her on UKvs as well. Maybe even Kennedy, the post-merge challenges are very much her wheelhouse.
