U-turning on the winter fuel thing with the result that older people now get even more guaranteed free money taken out of the taxes of working people, when older people already get a guaranteed 12k a year each out of the same pot and working people and the disabled under retired age get no such thing. I was under the impression that not taking a stance on Gaza was trying to avoid retributive actions from Israel and America. But it would seem to fall into the same 'because I say so' pattern...

What does social and economic equality mean? On paper I'm pro equality of opportunity and access to a certain standard of living but I'm not in favour of everybody getting EXACTLY the same regardless of their skills or contribution. What then is the point in anybody trying whatsoever?

Idk guys. In my mind there are easy solutions to actually win, and there are solutions that play within nice rules of engagement. In my lifetime, leftwing parties always seem to plump for the latter, rightwing parties go for the former, and when rightwingers win, all of us have to live under whatever insanity they enforce. Then next election, it's rinse and repeat.

If it gets elected. I hope they actually fight for it and they make sure that their number 1 target is Reform. Alas, my prediction is they'll go for Starmer and let Nigel sneak past thanks to FPTP. Leftwing moral purity naturally has to come before doing anything practical, but of course we must also obey The Rules and not actually take any meaningful actions whatsoever to actually deliberately crush the spirit of the opposition and force voters away from them.

Yeah, that holds less interest for me personally than advocating for social minority groups, especially where rights have been removed arbitrarily. Frankly, economically leftwing and socially conservative is about the polar opposite of my politics, so I'd be disappointed if this party fired down that route. Just my personal view. And I mean on that point. This is also my own experience speaking but what exactly has the peaceful protest against Israel or pro Palestine actually achieved? We are dealing with a warmonger state filled with a population that are all military trained and which seems to favour promoting sadists to a position of power, hence why it's army and military is doing what it is. Peaceful protest does nothing against zealotry like that. It looks like a sunk cost at this stage. This is seriously one of the issues I have with a lot of modern peaceful activism; it makes the activist feel like they're doing something but doesn't actually have any impact on shifting the experience of the persecuted people outside of spiritual solidarity.

I don't really comment on this topic much so. I don't mean this to be harsh but I don't understand why it seems to come as a surprise to even the people that talk about Israel committing a genocide when they keep doing it more and more or worse and worse. Do people not understand yet that Israel plans to kill every single person inside Gaza, whether quickly or slowly? That's what genocide is.

On the contrary I think if she was never good enough at Drag Race to win fairly, having a season fixed in her favour as a way of doing it is in my mind, bullshit. It's the same reason Alyssa Edwards has a crown. Ultimately this way of doing Drag Race also doesn't feel like this is a 'real' crown. She had to do five competitive episodes to get this. Even Bebe back in season 1 had more than that and they were a whole mix of things too. Almost anyone could win Drag Race if they were handed five episodes in a row (or at least 4) of challenges that are in their particular skillset, plus one team challenge where you can rely on your teammate solely to do the costuming portion you're not as strong as. Just comparing to other recent seasons. Jimbo and Angeria had 10 competitive episodes. Onya and Nymphia had 13. Most international queens have 8 or 9. It makes for a more compelling arc and most competitors need to show range OR lipsync to justify their spot. If she does come back for AW2 she's not going to do as well on it without the favoritism that she won't be given if she's cast with someone like Lawrence, Jimbo or Sasha Colby.

These lipsync Lalaparuza episodes have been mostly going downhill since AS6, with S16's being an exception to the rule. I disagree with the winner, as usual. BUT as soon as Bosco went out, I also didn't care which of the other three took it.
