This one should be really interesting - Norway won all three of their matches, but in a group that was notably easier than all the others. Statistically Italy are the worst-performing team to make it through, but of course they have the caveat that they were in a group with Spain. So could go either way!

So the group stages are over and each group winner won all three of their matches, so still feels like there are a decent number of teams in it! Every team has conceded as well though, so we could be in for some exciting knockout games.

We're at the end of the first set of stages now and Ben Healy is in yellow after getting in a breakaway today! Not sure anyone would have expected that, although he'll almost certainly fall away as the days go on. Behind him are the big three - Pogacar, Evenepoel and Vingegaard - so the race is on!

Very comfortable for England! I imagine Sweden will be a lot less easy...

Well you can't claim this game is lacking in drama - Sweden 3-1 up against Germany and Germany a player down!

And so Spain and Italy go through, with Spain having won all three games in their group - they are definitely looking to be a formidable force, although of course Italy and Belgium managed to get goals past them so they can be outsmarted! Italy go through and get Norway in the next round - Norway probably do have a decent chance there considering Italy's performance so far.

Belgium take the lead over Portugal and Italy take the lead over Spain - this group is feeling more and more settled as the minutes tick by!

And so Switzerland are through! I was rooting for Finland in that one but always nice to see the hosts make it into the Round of 16.

Wales get their first ever goal in a major tournament! Currently 1-1 v France, let's see how long they can keep it up for.

Looks like the qualifiers are decided after two games in this group unless something drastic changes in this Sweden / Poland match!

And Pogacar gets his first win of this Tour! Only missing out on the yellow jersey on countback. Nice to see Oscar Onley up into the Top 10, I wonder how far into the race he can go as a contender?

Just heard that the Wales team were involved in a crash on the way to training 😮 Thankfully it doesn't sound like anyone was injured.

Ooh an opportunity to update the timeline! Yep - he and Calvin both closed at the same time. The last one before that was Justin Bieber which closed in 2019!

Not a great start for England! That goal from Walsh near the end was fantastic though, hopefully that should give them some hope for the coming matches.

Germany 2-0 Poland just now - an expected win, but at least Poland did hold their own to some degree and not crumble to the same level Portugal did last night. They had a few decent chances as well!

Still not accepted the fact this won't be on ITV next year 😢 Expecting the Pogacar / Vingegaard rivalry we've had for the past few years again. Pogacar seemed to be very much on top in the Dauphiné but who knows what three weeks will do to them both! Evenepoel is generally seen as the 'third contender' but I don't think third place is a certain for him, there were good results for Lipowitz and Johannessen at the Dauphine so maybe they could be in the mix, or even Matteo Jorgensen. And Roglic could of course cause an upset, although I'm hesitant to put him down as a contender given his tendency to crash out of Tours de France!

Great to see Finland get their first win in quite a few Euro contests - here's hoping they can get some more results and make it through 👍
