Not sure how that will go down - it certainly removes a lot of the jeopardy of making sure your foot is as close to the board as possible, which I'm not sure is a good thing! Plus there's nothing wrong with a good old-fashioned board. Having a look online now and it certainly looks like people aren't too happy about it.

Sadly for Wade he didn't make it too much further in the contest himself! The overall winner was Australia's Damon Heta.
