  1. Now I have had a few days with this, I think it's not only the best album she's released in two decades, but better than the original Confessions. It doesn't have Hung Up, Get Together, or Sorry, songs so huge they're basically impossible to replicate, but it didn't explore dance music (and her own discography) the way this one does. also had a few clangers It's almost audacious that she had this in her still, all these years later. It's relentless, and all 16 songs more than deserve their place. I think the second half is stronger and more interesting, not to discredit the first half. It's a journey. I saw someone describe School as being as much a product of Blackout as it is the soundtrack to a Babadook orgy Introspective Madonna always gets me, especially now after 2023, so obviously I love the last few tracks too Anyway. Smashed it x This is how Love Without Words makes me feel
  2. I don't like my flag anymore I hear it incinerated in the jet exhaust
  3. I'm randomly listening to her entire discography today and she really is one of the best to ever do it I need the third album already. Do we think we'll get it this year? pls
  4. Obsessed with Joey but I’m going to go against the consensus and say that, while funny, her actual story was pretty weak and she had one of the worst looks on a very strong runway I think anyone with cue cards was probably immediately taken out of consideration when they’re supposed to be retelling a silly inspirational story to themselves, but you know the judges are rarely consistent with these things x Anyway! Awful challenge but one of the best lip-syncs in recent memory. My iconic mother deserved to stay over half of the cast 🖤 Dawn and Sam are very lucky I’m not a judge
  5. Madonna thought she could just put on some funky house and acid bass and I would be able to keep listening to the rest of the album? Call it trance Call it house Call it love without words
  6. "If CONFESSIONS II has a contemporary analogue, it’s Róisín Machine, a moment of pre-transphobia brilliance by Róisín Murphy on which she told a fragmented, fantastical version of her life story atop crunchy, vintage-toned club music." This comment in Pitchfork made me scream (with excitement and at the deserved Róisín drag) Feeling very vindicated for seeing the vision from the beginning. Time to dive in x
  7. eee girlies I am ready Madonna was my first popstar. She didn't sound like anyone else and was genuinely experimental to my peanut brain. I remember losing it as a kid to Confessions, which led me to discover Ray of Light and being floored. I have held her to this unfair standard ever since, because those years were so formative to my taste in pop music, and honestly, Hard Candy to Madame X gave us some of the worst music I've ever heard I know the singles haven't landed for everyone, and maybe I have just gotten more lenient out of desperation, but this era has just been joyous and I am v excited for tomorrow x
  8. Metacritic Confessions on a Dancefloor 80 Hard Candy 65 MDNA 64 Rebel Heart 68 Madame X 70 It's been a long time since she's had an album as well reviewed as this across the board. Madame X had some positive coverage but ultimately pretty mixed, and nothing close to acclaim
  9. It’s leaked! The reactions I have seen around seem very positive, and it’s apparently a lot more experimental than the singles implied. Raves in the press too One more day
  10. She’s such a hoot. I have always found her awkward humour endearing She did soften around Kylie, it was nice seeing that side of her. Great to hear more about what the album means and represents too 🖤 It seemed more like a hint towards next summer, which made me think of her finally headlining Glastonbury…
  11. Kennedy is truly mother. I love seeing a seasoned drag queen do their thing and show the young girlies how it's done x
  12. Stay in there! Stanning Pagasa is a form of torture x
  13. I am obsessed with her having a very specific taste in millennial music She is serving this
  14. Oh I love this cheeky bop 🖤 Her videos have been genuinely incredible for a few years now
  15. I have never felt more sick or jealous
  16. wait truly never felt more excited to share a piece of news with you all. i’ve had a dream of doing this festival for years and i am so ecstatic its finally coming true!! Daisy Chain Fields features an all-women lineup and 100 percent of the net proceeds will go to charities dedicated to advancing and advocating for women and girls. the lineup is truly insane and full of my heroes and friends. i firmly believe that joy, community, and music can be the drivers of meaningful change and I’m hopeful this festival will be just that. I absolutely cannot wait to scream and dance and sing with you guys August 29th!!!! I love a young popstar that knows their history and their references, and Sarah McLachlan? Lilith Fair is back
  17. I still feel the same about those two ballads (not you Honeybee, you're special x), but my love for every other song has only intensified since. I don't think we're going to get a better pop album this year 🖤 It’s fascinating watching both Olivia and Billie really nail their third albums in an almost generational, peerless way. Random thoughts: I remember a Sophie Ellis-Bextor interview where she discussed the importance of the third album, and now I can't stop thinking about artists that got it right (or wrong) with theirs.
  18. Gorgeous! They just don't miss. The last minute or so is such an interesting direction for them too
  19. blacksquare posted a post in a topic in Television
Show of the year! Patricia is everything to me x Spoiler I need to discuss the bell tolls with someone
  20. I think maggots for brains might have the best pop hook of the year honestly, both the chorus and bridge are so infectious What can I doooo but think of youuuu
  21. I think we all know how the concrete plans plays out, unfortunately. There'll be a lot of "we didn't have social media when we were kids" and not a lot of funds being allocated into communities That's kind of the issue with the nostalgia framing. Growing up without social media was a genuine experience but it existed alongside youth clubs, affordable extra-curricular activities, a functioning high street, somewhere to actually go, etc. You're right that there has to be give and take, but I will be shocked Pikachu face if there is any give. They refuse to actually regulate these platforms and will happily collect as much data as possible, while patting themselves on the back for protecting children
