Votes are in 🌚 It felt like an underwhelming semi initially, as some standouts I already knew — but there are some big growers here. Always happy to come across songs that open up after a few listens 🖤 I can't remember the last time I felt so unsure about how a semi is going to unfold, it's difficult to predict this one. Massively varied, and not much stands out as a potential DNQ

Ha, I have Debby Friday PTSD, and my Nelstars are in SF1! I hope you're right, it just didn't seem to get much of a reaction in the listenthrough, although only a few really did. I have listened to everything a few times now still have no idea how this is going to go. It's such a varied semi, both in sound and nations. The few that I think could struggle also have a viable path 🤷‍♂️ Results will be exciting!

This is gorgeous. The strings It's hard not to be obsessed with Addison Rae having references like 'Bedtime Stories' or nineties Janet Jackson. Her vocal delivery is very 'In the Zone' too, she's such a student of pop music. This one is for you @Cremey

The electronic music that does well here leans more towards alternative though — it’s not really straight-forward dance music that is winning? Every contest is usually a good mix of alternative, electronic, indie-pop etc

I would be intrigued to know if there are any other examples of a top 3 like this where every song is a classic of their genre, and really, all three songs won in some way

'I wanna see my friends dicks' scratches that LCD Soundsystem itch in the best way — unexpected banger. Excited to dig into the rest x It's not just been two years since Mae Muller hit Eurovision, but also since Neliönoir debuted in BJSC with Debby Friday — a DNQ with only four votes from Bronzil, Kathaldazia, St Burbia, and Scotland 2 👀 '1/17' is a gorgeous anthem and perhaps my favourite song of the year so far — fingers crossed we qualify this time and it connects with someone as much as it has with me. Debbii needs to share some of the love with Debby pls 🖤

Her label completely fumbling this project is insane to me when they seemed to understand her place and how to differentiate her from other pop artists. She's someone who can genuinely succeed without being a consistent hitmaker and exist as a critic's darling and touring act. But you need an album out for that.

Disappearing into the hinterlands of Hinterlandia for two weeks would be a very Hinterlandia thing to do 👀

Oh, I thought I won Nuggets! So, @awardinary, the trick is to win at your first attempt with something electronic (female vocals, of course) and then never win again. Or just send something you love and hope other people feel similarly 🖤 (Why is UP an annual contest? There is so much great alternative music that deserves more than flopping in BJSC. Nuggets and UP alternating quarterly would be lush 👀)
