She’s on some pretty huge playlists and had massive World Cup exposure (20 million watched across BBC and ITV) and is the #5 current most streamed artist on global Spotify, so if it can’t knock off a year old, 17 week #1 track then… (I love it btw just saying). Amazing for Shakira, so good to see her getting a big hit - not surprised it’s had such a big boost it was basically played on repeat during the trophy lift at the World Cup 🤣

I think it’ll go ACR after it’s current stint - I know it’s avoided it before but it had a big boost from the Sam/Capaldi collab and is declining this week. It could make it to 20 weeks though before it does hit ACR though.

I don’t disagree something needs to be done but creating more charts just makes a farce of the actual charts - the charts are meant to represent the most popular tracks not the newest, current/new artists, songs that haven’t made the Top 40 before etc., We’ll end up with Billboard style charts with one for every genre and exclusion.

44k I guess neither fanbase are big streamers.

One More Time

The thing is the charts are not meant to show what’s new or fresh they are meant to show what’s popular. There is a major issue at the moment with newer artists seemingly not connecting with audiences - but I think that’s a bigger issue as how can new artists get their music out there to the masses, radio and TV is not as effective as it used to be, and plonking a song on a streaming playlist is not the answer - it might create inflated streams and maybe a chart entry but not convinced it’ll help long term.

This - didn’t think it would trouble the Top 20 at one point!

Shakira certainly getting the plays/promo in the trophy presentation - could get a boost.

Average 3-4 million for The One Show, Graham Norton 3 million, Sunday Brunch 800k - decent for most artists to get that kind of exposure.

There’s not tons (and obviously some artists wouldn’t touch some of it) but there’s - Graham Norton Show The One Show Sunday Brunch Saturday Night Live UK There are also seasonal opportunities on Strictly Come Dancing and BGT.

I don’t think they’ll do anything but I’m sure they’ll acknowledge it if it happens. Its wild that they’ve only performed the song 4 times in total - twice on Sam’s tour before it was released and twice on Olivia’s tour, we’ve had no TV, festivals etc., performances and no TV/radio promo from them for it.

Seen that it’s been #1 in Ireland for 11 weeks too but far off any records there.

I think Choosin’ Texas will be the next #1 - I’m sure they are getting ready to pounce with physicals etc once they know it’s achievable. Totally here for it making #1.

New peak for Ella at #4 - next UK #1 please!

RMI up 10k Pleased to see Ella back in the Top 5, hopefully it becomes a long running official Top 10 (would love ‘Be Her’ to snatch a Top 40 week too). ‘Wonderwall’ could get another boost IF we win tonight as am sure the crowd will sing it and it’ll be our best result for 60 years.

Playlist impact I’m guessing - it seems to be on all the main football compilations/playlists so has benefited by default potentially.

I keep seeing the ‘people actually went out and bought it’ piece come up again and again - in that instance then nothing is a hit or worthy or charting now then? It’s different times and they are competing with the favored consumption available to them. RMI has sold out of every physical they’ve produced (12k) and paid downloads are 25k. And playlists haven’t been overly kind to them - it took months and months to get Spotify on board. At the moment it’s #5 on HHUK - if people aimlessly listen to playlists then the 4 songs above it would be charting higher, people are actively listening to it (of course it’s still benefitting from playlist streams as are any songs placed on a playlist) but there seems to be a notion it’s charting because of playlists only. Radio are not hammering it either - it’s #27 in the YTD chart and not in the current weekly Top 40 chart.
