KMO is one of my Top 3 albums of Kylie’s - I agree to an extent though, KMO wasn’t universally disliked when it was released and seemed to become a thing after it faltered. I’ve never understood the level of hate it gets, it’s not like it’s wildly different from her other music - it’s an inoffensive pop/dance album with some absolute gems on it and the KMO tour was brilliant too. The same with IWGC - the video and song gets rinsed constantly, it’s not her best but certainly not as horrific as I read about everywhere. This - with promo opportunities dwindling and everything being social media and TikTok led now a tour can and does do wonders for sales, even if it doesn’t return an album into the upper reaches of the charts it certainly gives it a decent boost. Hopefully a proper EU tour will happen next year.

The sales figure update has fueled me to get Tension on repeat on Spotify - after hammering the album so much when it was released I haven’t returned to it massively (even though I love the album).

^^ I think it’s more to do with the market changes and how hit singles don’t produce hit albums (unless you have 4-5 huge singles from an album that inflate sales). It’ll go Gold and that’s a massive achievement - it’s feels like most new albums struggle to pass silver nowadays.

Cyprus have started to embrace PP iTunes: #5 Cyprus

The CD/Cassettes sold 2,150 in the UK in week 1, her vinyl single releases have never sold as few as 1-1.5k - even with the muted response to MOM I don’t see this release falling off a cliff from collectors etc, plus there will be a few sales from Beba/Tove fans. Great result - having 3 sets of fanbases checking out the video has worked.

I think we’ll get 2.5-3k UK vinyl sales - not sure the video and streaming will be enough for it to make the Top 100 though? 5,875 was needed for #95 this week.

I ‘think’ part of the agreement with R1/Hottest Record is that the track has to be made available immediately - guessing that means both streaming and download.

Same - it’s giving late summer hit vibes and the fact R1 are onboard from the offset is a major plus!

If only the ‘Extension’ release would’ve counted towards it total it’d be touching 100k by now. But still 93k is not to be sniffed at in todays climate.

BMG are thirsty for those sales

This :drama: 6 x physicals and 2 x downloads done, I’d be invested if sales were needed for a Top 40 but not overly interested to buy downloads for a #98 re-entry, have duly given it some streams today though. I guess however cheap a production is there is still a significant cost involved and with Kylie seemingly having to fund or at least part fund then the interest is probably not there to find videos for minimal/no return?

Agree not a fan but nice to have something different to add to the collection and they’ve at least put a bit of thought into them with them being gatefold sleeves.

Immediate 2k views - pleased we have a video, they definitely thought this was going to a summer smash I think with the investment in formats, video, and performance.

BMG seem to buy whole businesses/back catalogue - that’s how they acquired PWL and Deconstruction, it’s nice that they have so much of her back catalogue. Guessing the Parlophone ones are too valuable to them so in turn too expensive for anyone else to buy.

Some other territories got EFY as part of the album, guessing PWL wanted to steer people towards Jason’s album in the UK as it was his debut?

Video out tomorrow and the vinyl is also released tomorrow - neither will be enough to save it but could get a boost back into the Top 100.
