I don’t think BMG have ever cared about singles chart positions - they only tend to react when their hand is forced. Dancing - they were quite happily going to let it drift out of the Top 40 until noise from the fanbase got them to release the remix download bundle. Padam Padam - The formats came after the song took off Tension - Off the back of PP they went for it in week 1 but then quickly lapsed back into normal ways of working with HOTN I think for a label like BMG it’s an expensive game to chase single chart positions and their business model is signing acts that can and do sell albums rather than producing hit singles. They clearly hedge their bets and make money off of set numbers of physicals rather than wildly over producing in the hopes of entering at #39. As mentioned there would be no harm in them releasing the extended version to streaming and download but they clearly don’t care enough or see the benefit of an act like Kylie entering at #74.

Being #7 in the mids to (potentially) not making the Top 100 is something you don’t see happen often

I’ve tried the search function and can’t see a thread for this or the band! Absolutely brilliant Irish indie band that seem to be going under the radar - I’ve seen them live a few times and went to 2 of their album launch shows this week in London, absolutely brilliant live band. They’ve just released their 2nd album ‘When Youth Fades Away’ - not as instant as their first but a solid album from start to finish. (And available for £3.99 on iTunes for anyone that wants to check it out). Anyone else a fan or heard the new album yet?

Agree - they’ve made the money regardless of it charts at #32 or #102. They could have nabbed Kylie several Top 40s but the label and Kylie/her management clearly don’t feel the need to chase it and it only becomes a want/frustration from the fans. In the grand scheme of things they know it doesn’t matter at all if it makes the Top 40 or misses the Top 100 - she’s selling albums and tours so this is just a tool to promote those and keep the £ rolling in from physicals.

Love this track but as others have said, such a forgotten part of Kylie’s singles history.

Was not even expecting Top 20 in First Look let alone #7. Shame downloads and streams will be next to nothing this week but will hopefully be another Top 75 hit.

Loved their debut - like others have said really interested to see how era 2 goes, it feels like it could go either way tbh after the length of time and the ‘industry plant’ comments about them etc

Shipments have started for the physicals - interested to see how many it sells if we find out, guessing it might have been more limited to the other singles due to how quickly it sold out? Maybe they decreased their numbers after being stuck with so many physicals of her recent singles.

This - but on the other hand it’s bizarre that she had 2 big hits from Tension and it’s likely to be her lowest selling BMG album, I guess it shows that hit singles don’t mean album sales (unless of course you release a Greatest Hits debut album like Becky Hill etc 😂)

Awful film 😆But one of the most collectible items in my collection is from that film - the withdrawn 12” Australian promo promoting the film and featuring Kylie.

I’ve just added all the remixes to one of my playlists to help it on its way to silver even though it seems it’s quite a bit off reaching it.

I remember being over the moon when it entered at #26 in it’s first week that even if it fell out the next week it was a massive achievement 😂

That’s actually a pretty decent figure to have averaged 3.2k a week, good to see it’s still getting plays.
