  1. What a surprise. Ed Davey leads in all head-to-heads but seems to have been left out of the next set of questions.

It does, and is is very big. Bear in mind that even 10! is about 3.5 million.

I could have worked it out but it would have taken too long. It is approximately 2.7*10^32. For a sense of just how big that number is, here are some significantly smaller numbers - Number of drops of water in the Pacific Ocean - 10^25 Age of the universe in seconds - 4*10^17 Number of grains of sand to fill the Grand Canyon - 4*10^19

Oops, that should have been 30! Just for clarification, I don’t mean 30 factorial which is a very big number.

Much as I love Slide Away, it’s a bit depressing that we might have just two new entries with one of them being over 39 years old.

The Subway is quite pleasant. I look forward to hearing The Greggs, The Pret A Manger and The Boots Meal Deal.

It was rather tense updating Cricinfo regularly here in France before I headed for the beach.
  8. Mix Tape, now on iPlayer, was great. Fantastic music as well as good drama.

I think you need to check the odds of winning the lottery!

An early finish today gives us yet another twist in the last match of an extraordinary series. England need 35 runs; India need four wickets. What are the odds on a tie?
  11. His Orangeness has imposed hefty tariffs on Switzerland for no obvious reason. My guess is that either he once choked on a Toblerone or was frightened by a cuckoo clock. I assume Swiss journalists are now trying to find evidence that the orange blob has a numbered Swiss bank account.
  12. The OCC has indeed described Tim Minchin as a multihyphenate. At least it’s a bit more accurate in his case.
  13. Maybe The Ks should get together with the remaining members of The Specials. I still can’t think of Showaddywaddy without hearing Hugh Dennis’s impression of Jimmy Savile saying their name.
  14. I assume you are getting over the trauma of having to report what is at number one.
  15. It’s rather like the German Die Linke which grew from the East German Communist party. Still , I’m sure the right-wing press won’t make that link

The Online Safety Act has not been rushed through. The process started under the last government. They were slow to implement it precisely because it is so difficult to get the legislation right.
  17. In three knockout matches England led for a total of four minutes.
  18. Three Euros in a row for Wiegman.
  19. How weird. The caption saying it was halftime in extra time was in English, as were the team names! I’m still definitely watching a French channel.
  20. Thankfully my French is good enough for me to understand the on-screen message that extra time is on a different channel!
  21. I shall be watching with French commentary
  22. If England win, they will be the first senior England team to win a major trophy away from Wembley.
  23. Free - All Right Now had multiple rereleases in the days of physical singles. It charted in 1970, 1973, 1978 and 1991. Similarly, Moody Blues’ Nights In White Satin has had three top twenty runs. A fourth chart run peaked outside the top forty.
  24. Same as the men, except that the women actually managed to win one.
