  1. The SNP has three opposition day motions. This is the second of this parliamentary term and the second they have used to table a motion on a ceasefire in Gaza. This isn’t about showing up Labour (get real the plastic Tories show themselves up daily without our help) they have been very consistent in their opposition to the disproportional actions of Israel and the war crimes committed against the civilians in Gaza. The Scottish Gov continues to fund the UN organisation that the UK Gov defunded for example. Our FM has family in Gaza. This is deeply personal for the party, this isn’t about playing petty politics. There’s people dying ffs The row is because former Labour MP Hoyle was blackmailed by the Labour Party to throw parliamentary convention and rules out the window to save face for Labour by allowing a wrecking amendment from the opposition on the SNPs opposition day The only party politicking here is from Labour. Scared of their own backbenchers they have made the speaker of the house‘s position untenable
  2. Tuchel will leave Bayern at the end of the season. The only surprise about this news was that it was not instant

I loved Park Runs reaction to this of simply just deleting records in general and doubling down on „this is just for fun, get a grip“ and then undeterred and still outraged the media went to try and find supporters for their cause and everyone they spoke to went „this is just for fun, get a grip“ The public’s reaction is a reminder that It’s always good sometimes to take a step back and remember that the TERFs are just a viciously vocal internet minority with an insignificantly tiny percentage of the population behind them. The absolute majority of people couldn’t give a f*** what someone else does with their own life/body

She could do so much with her wealth, and used to! She supported a research lab at a hospital in Edinburgh for example. To fund things like this is a conscious decision on her part to do bad things and spread hate. She’s been at it since she donated a million to better together back in the indyref (that’s when I cut off any and all engagement with her IP) and she’s continually funded worse and worse things and nastier and nastier people. Buying licensed HP merch, buying her books, streaming the movies, watching the movies when they’re on TV etc etc etc all contribute to her wealth pile, all result in your hard earned cash being used to support shitty people and their shitty causes. Disengage. Buy used copies of movies/games from charity shops. Don’t feed the monster
  8. Especially not the one that was just in Sanremo!
  9. Thankfully, this is the last year of NDR‘s stint as the regional broadcaster in charge of ESC. From next year we go to MDR for a bit. Maybe Middle Germany will have a committee of people who weren’t alive during the war

Queen Keisha has spoken and apparently the girls never got to see the final VT before it went out and didn’t approve it or have a sign off/veto of it She also forgot to mention her parents in her acceptance speech…
  12. Yeah, Käärijä and Erika was always gonna be chancing it a bit but was worth a punt as it’s such a banger

From what I understood, the pull rod was a key reason behind how the aero could work so effectively and why Red Bulls downwash concept was so effective in comparison to others (may also explain why Alpine struggled in 2023 because they swapped to Push Rod at the rear even tho they were one of the original downwash innovators in 22). It’s giving blown diffuser only working because of Renaults engine mapping vibes Very interesting to see what happens with those who have stuck to push rod

Catfights defo gets done dirty. The singles are two of the weakest tracks on the album. Overall I think it’s a lot more consistent than Change is but it’s defo a big step down compared to 1.0/2.0. I think there is a pretty major gulf in quality after Mutya left and you can feel her lack of impact in Taller. Interestingly, that doesn’t hold for The Lost Tapes, where Shiv seems to more effectively compensate for that For me the order currently runs: Three (Perfection) One Touch (The older this gets the more I love it. It’s timeless) The Lost Tapes (Oh god what could have been!! Full of great tracks) Angels with Dirty Faces (Also full of great tracks and I didn’t hate Shape at the O2 but I still hate it in the studio form. f*** sting) Taller in More Ways (Amelle) Taller in More Ways (Mutya - Amelle‘s Red Dress has better production but Mutya’s Gotta Be You and Follow Me Home are superior. However, Now You’re Gone is one of the best track the Sugababes have ever done and that alone is enough to elevate the rerelease) Catfights and Spotlights (Some incredible highlights in this album. Beware is an absolute gem) Change (The good bits mostly consist of things either they didn’t Write like AYN or were Taller rejects like NGDA. The bad bits are just so poor and dull and so unsugababes and that sadly is half the album. The hill I will die on is that Back Down and 3 Spoons are album/3.0 highlights) Sweet 7 - Keisha Album Sampler Version (terrible but at least competently produced) *Heat death of the universe* Sweet 7 - as it was released (Worst thing to have ever had the Sugababes name attached to it. It sounds prehistoric and in spite of being their second most recent album, it’s their oldest sounding of the 8. nothing about it is a Sugababes record with the one exception of Crash & Burn which is the only thing that has competent production. The rest suffers badly from Jades vocal just being smashed on top of it in a shed in 20 minutes with no care or respect for the end product - tho when the songcraft is this lazy I can understand. Jades whining on Wait For You actually makes my skin crawl, it’s the single worst recording of any line up.)
  17. Jude didn’t insult him. The truth can’t be insulting
  18. Not watching this year due to heading out for a mates birthday but I’m hoping that Windows95Man doesn’t win. That’s absolutely the wrong step for Finland to make I think. It’s a decent enough track but I don’t think the right thing to follow up ChaChaCha. Although anything will have an extremely tough task following up that

The Guinness world record for most successful female artist of the 21st century or whatever it was, was given to 3.0 and only 3.0 images were used at the time

I am really really REALLY over the constant negation of Siobhan’s contribution to the band. without her, Heidi and Amelle would be literal nobodies working in tesco. The bands entire reputation and access to producers throughout their career was built on the back of One Touch - which wouldn’t exist without Siobhan and her contributions. One Touch is the single most impactful and important part of their career. Love it or not but it’s still beloved and cited as an influence and inspiration over 20 years later by critics, other artists, industry professionals and more. That is the definition of impact, not sales.

The montage was always going to cause issues along parts of the fanbase. Very damned if they do damned if they don’t moment. I do understand why it was limited to the current line up, but even tho 1.0 is the longest reigning line-up I would have included 2.0 a little as well. (Don’t come for me Amelle/Jade Stan’s but the last two line ups had the impact of wet cardboard) IMO their „impact“ (because commercial success =/= impact) can be pulled down to 3 eras/moments and that is how I would have structured the montage: - Overload / One Touch - nothing sounded like it at the time. It was just so entirely unique and different. It inspired scores of artists - Freak Like Me & Round Round - both of these were groundbreaking and helped redefine British pop music (this is where I would have included 2.0 in the montage). There are multiple essays on just how much Freak and RR(in conjunction with Sound Of The Underground) literally irreversibly changed how pop music was made in the UK - Flatline / Reclaiming the Name / Sacred Three / Lost Tapes - Again critically acclaimed like the debut but a huge cultural impact on the first line up coming back, the fight for the name, taking ownership of their music and career - and the absolute rave reviews to their performances like shutting Avalon Field for the first time Would have had a Voxpop for each era from an industry professional talking about how it inspired and influenced them/the industry. Would have finished with a like scrapbook/flickerbook montage of videos/performances/photos etc from every one of the 8 album eras to the „multi platinum, 6 number ones blah blah“ bit and finished on a clip of them hugging on stage at the end of the glasto set Would be interested how y’all would have done the montage

The performance was great! Shame they didn’t do When The Rain Comes but I get it was about their impact (in which case I’d have used Round Round instead of Push The Button as while PTB was the bigger hit, RR had a significant impact on British pop music in the 00‘s)
