Welcome to République d’Áskorza and to the warm up act for the main event next month here in Morpeth Cove. We have the grand pleasure of hosting Semi Final 3 of Buzzfestivalen 2025! For this long awaited seventh edition of BJfest we had a total of 44 entries confirmed, which means we've divided them up into four semi finals of 11 entries, ready to compete and move one step closer to being crowned the winner of this spin off. Each participating country is to vote in their semi-final only and vote with the following slightly truncated points allocation: 12 points (favourite) 10 points 8 points 6 points 4 points 2 points (6th favourite) As usual you cannot vote for your own entry so you'll be ranking your 6 favourites of your 10 competitors. If you're in this semi-final, then please deliver your votes via PM to me (Silas) by 23:59 BST on Monday 7th July 2025 (note the somewhat shorter than usual deadline but the nature of the contest should make it pretty quick to listen through). The 2 songs with the most points will book a guaranteed spot in the grand final, while the songs in 3rd through 5th will go into the Andra Chansen (second chance) round to compete for the remaining final spots. Unfortunately it'll be the end of the line for the remaining 6 although eliminated countries will be free and encouraged to still vote in the Andra Chansen and final rounds. The Iranian response was classic saving face for a domestic audience. They have locked down the Internet and telecoms and control the tv. They can domestically project what they want to save face at home while not picking a fight with the US. Feels like a negotiated off ramp they could take to not be seen as weak and embolden internal opposition, letting out some frustration, and also showing the US that they are willing to strike out at their military installations if the us decides to press further. Seems to have been well received by the moulding kumquat. Honestly, much of the travel industry would be overjoyed if the airspace around Qatar and the UAE was suddenly problematic. Emirates, Etihad and Qatar have never made a single cent in profit between them but they’ve absolutely wrecked a lot of the legacy carriers. The tourist money would just migrate to Egypt or Saudi, and the hubs would relocate to either Istanbul or the old kangaroo model of Europe + Asia (eg start airport to Heathrow then Hong Kong or Bangkok or Singapore then onto your destination) If those three money laundering exercises masquerading as airlines could no longer fly effectively Qantas, Lufthansa, AF-KLM, Turkish, Malaysian, Cathy and Singapore would throw a party (while Trebling their fares overnight).
