The Veronicas - The Secret Life Of...
Heading to 2005 where Australian pop sisters The Veronicas first album was released, The Secret Life Of... the first track is '4ever' which was eventually the follow up to 'Untouched' in 2009. 'Untouched' comes off the second album Hook Me Up but I'm gonna include it in the listenthrough which we can do next week (as most will be focused on Eurovision this week). Have only listened to their 2014 album so it'll be a good excuse to check this one out. What are your main faves to those who have listened to and loved the album already. You can as always drop a review also.

Week 38 Solid effort from Liberty X again although nothing groundbreaking. A fan of 'Nessaja' too. Didn't recall 'Walk On Water' much but that's sounding really nice. The Korn, N.O.R.E. and Death In Vegas tracks are quite good too. Agreed on that being Anastacia's weakest song from that era. Week 39 'Just Like A Pill' obviously brill and I like the Busted track but prefer the singles that followed. 'Everyday' is decent enough and the Eminem and Beenie Man songs are fine. 'Strange and Beautiful (I'll Put A Spell On You)' is really nice. 'She Hates Me' is a stomper and the video is iconic too for comical reasons and Disturbed's is superb rock as per usual. Don't think I heard that Supergrass track at the time and it sounds a little familiar but it's okay. Week 40 'Little By Little' a fantastic track and up there with their absolute best whilst the the other song is alright but nothing special and the same goes for the Will and Gareth collab which is not for me but Gareth's Elvis cover is quite fun. 'Complicated' is a brilliant introduction for Avril but not my fave from the debut era. Both the Datsuns and Strokes hits are really good. Eve and Alicia is decent. Not heard the 'Silver Screen (Shower Scene)' before but it's sounding cool and has a hypnotic touch to it

I Want You Back for me. Only one I don't care for much, prefer other Mel singles over it too. 'Bag It Up' is a guilty pleasure and always found 'Lift Me Up' sweet too.

Sad Will didn't make the top 3 here with such a lovely track. Michael Grey as voting the Sats is a wasted vote really lol.

Year End Survivor Results
112 1st 16/31 votes 51% Hailing from Battle East Sussex is alternative rock band Keane who take the win in a very nail-bitingly close battle picking up 16 votes with their second straight top 5 hit in 'Everybody's Changing' peaking at 4 in 2004. It was released however first on another label called Fierce Panda where it had charted at 122 a year earlier. The song had 3 different videos shot for it and it had been composed back in 2001 by Tim Rice-Oxley after the guitarist Dominic Scott quit the band. It can be heard in the final moments from episodes of the likes of One Tree Hill and Scrubs and in 2006 was rated 79th greatest song of all time by The Sun. 2nd 15/31 votes 48% In the year 2000 we saw the start of the Sugababes formed of Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena and Siobhán Donaghy before the many line up changes would later come. 'Overload' was a success, landing straight in at 6 and spending 7 weeks inside the top 40. It was nominated for Best British Single at the Brit Awards and later inspired the title for the groups greatest hits collection. The track fuses together styles of soul and hip-hop and can be heard in the films High Heels and Low Lifes and 40 Days and 40 Nights. 3rd: Groove Armada - Song 4 Mutya (Out Of Control) 13/31 votes (42%) 4th: Jennifer Lopez - Ain’t It Funny 13/28 votes (46%) 5th: Good Charlotte - Lifestyles Of The Rich And Famous 10/28 votes (36%) 6th: Jordin Sparks - Tattoo 18/30 votes (60%) 7th: Pussycat Dolls - Hush Hush: Hush Hush 10/31 votes (32%) 8th: Ja Rule featuring Case - Livin’ It Up 13/33 votes (39%) 9th: Destiny’s Child featuring T.I. and Lil Wayne - Soldier 12/30 votes (40%) 10th: Sergio Mendes featuring The Black Eyed Peas - Mas Que Nada 12/32 votes (32%)

Just Lordi for me, saw them in Brighton 10 years ago and it was a great show!

Julian rates every 21st century Top 40 hit
Week 37 'Fantasy' is a superb debut for the All Saints twins and 'Forever' is another euphoric banger from N-Trance. Weezer, Paul Weller, Underworld and Jurgen Vries are all great offerings too. Incubus and White Stripes tracks are alright but not feeling them overall. Agreed on the 4 Strings, it's fine but rather inessential and doesn't seem to go off anywhere exciting. Some of the Tweenies stuff have been nostalgic fun but this is a miss for me.

Pick of the Pops: The Noughties
They should really check to see what charts they have or haven't covered in recent years before scheduling it lmao.

Week 34 Not much to comment on here aside from 'Round Round' really which is a pop classic. I like the D Bed track and 'DJ Nation' has some cool elements too. Week 35 'Starry Eyed Surprise' is such an anthem and 'Just The Way You Are' is a fab chillout dance tune. Think I bought it at the time. Probably did like the Abz song at the time but listening back it's very average and had a slightly better track that followed. 'Addictive' is okay. 'I'm Alive' is decent too but do much prefer 'That's The Way It Is' and another good track from Moby there. Agree on the 'In and Out' only sticking out for a solid fast rap but other than that nothing great at all. Week 36 Atomic Kitten's cover of 'Tide Is High' is quite nice, obvs not a touch on Blondie's but still pretty good. 'Dy-Na-Ma-Tee' is a much better Ms Dynamite track and is the one I remember most so it being the highest charting of hers makes sense, though it'd still only be a 7/10 for me. Unashamedly like 'Too Bad' as well. A solid and gritty rock anthem. Enrique's is fine but I'm also not massively keen either as it doesn't vary much or go anywhere interesting. Of those I didn't know, 'Can You Dig It' stuck out as sounding great. Sadly not mad on that Ash song and they don't miss much for me oops and would've preferred if the Mint Royale track was instrumental as am not fond on the vocals at all.

Neither the Diddy or Cliff songs are anything great and theyll go as the first two anyway but also never been keen on 'Heartbroken' so that'll get my vote!

Obviously Muse as it's a fab version and probably the best of any version I've heard of that song. I did buy the Lighthouse Family track at the time though and still find it pleasant.
