Spotify & Apple Music Chart Discussion
Thanks for the breakdown. So it is closer to 2,000 downloads than 1,000. I was thinking about it and realized we were halfway through the week on actual sales so that was actually more likely....

Spotify & Apple Music Chart Discussion
Assuming 1,000 actual sales, then streaming sales are 10,400 x 2 = 20,800. Add back the 1,000, then actual total is approximately 22,000. If real sales are 2,000 (probably not yet) then streaming is 9,400 x 2 = 18,800 so actual sales are around 20,000. Personally i think it's more likely to be closer to 1,000 at the moment so 22,000 is the more likely total compared to 19,500 or so last week.

Spotify & Apple Music Chart Discussion
Kate has increased by 2,500 or so in 'sales' compared to this time last week . This may of course be due to actual sales and not streams? If Master of Puppets never charted, then surely it should be on SCR as its not 3 years old chartwise.

2 weeks to wait on that (assuming it doesn't increase again)

Friday Chart Predictions
So a fake no.1 this week. I guess we'll wait and see if it ever becomes a real one....

Friday Chart Predictions
If her streams don't increase this week, you'll get your wish. Of course there is the potential boost from its use in the final 2 episodes of Stranger Things next week, so who knows whether even on ACR it will be enough (probably not but we won't know for sure until that week's chart is announced). Personally I don't want Kate to go to ACR but each to their own.

ACR Status Update: 2nd June 2022
No Kate declined in streams so she is on DCL-2! The increase was due to real sales.

How Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill became a No.1 contender
Remember the charts are for the industry and not the general public, so if a record company is repromoting a song then yes they obviously would like it reset. If there's no campaign then it could be viewed as just a short term boost while a campaign implies a more long term boost. Having said that, I also feel that special 'events' such as the death of an artist should also lead to a reset as you frequently will see a large rise in 'sales' but it does tend to be transient. I gues this does then open pandoras box as to what constitutes a special 'event'.

How Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill became a No.1 contender
Perhaps they did and the OCC/CSC took this long to decide? We don't know how long these things take behind the scenes. You would hope it was quick, but perhaps it isn't. It is unfortunate that the week it is reset it also appears to be declining compared to the previous week, meaning that DCL-1 is imminent, though perhaps the news of the reset may lead to an increase next week? As pointed out, it does look like Harry will avoid ACR this week as he does appear to be increasing, so it would definitely be bad if nothing else comes along and he regains no.1 due to Kate going back on ACR.

ACR alternative suggestions
I second that!

Were OCC right to reset 'Running Up That Hill'?
Agree completely. 2 would've been a new peak for the song and that is where it would have been on a level playing field. We have had prior examples of old songs peaking at a new position throughout chart history following renewed interest e.e. Unchained Melody, Stand by me etc which would have been disadvantaged if streaming and this rule had been present then. This is a relatively unique situation unlike the xmas songs which chart every year. If an old song is going to reach a new peak (on reset) then the song should be reset as it shows renewed interest in a track. This should be automatic and not happen only 2 weeks after there is evidence of a resurgence.... Of course I'd personally scrap ACR anyway as you shouldn't penalize songs just because the general public still like to listen to ithem. I know that would slow things down, but at least it would reflect what people were listening to more accurately.

Friday Chart Predictions
Its interesting because it is no.1 in both digital sales and streaming but its radio airplay (which i personally don't think should be part of the formula, but it has been for 70 years) is so poor that its only 4 overall. I think its rare for a song to be no.1 in 2 of the metrics but not overall (particularly when one of them is streaming).

Friday Chart Predictions
While I don't think it is likely that Kate has been reset, depending on your interpretation of the rules, there is a slim possibility: The rules state: i) Automatic Reset – a track within the Top 100 on ACR and which is within 3 years of release can automatically return to SCR if it’s streams total increases by 25 percentage points greater than the streaming market change week on week. For example, a track with a week on week variance of +14%, in a week where market variance is -11%, would be automatically reset. ii) Manual Reset – In exceptional circumstances, where a track is being scheduled for promotion, a label may elect to manually reset a track to SCR. This manual reset is limited to two tracks per artist album, only where the track in question is outside the Top 100 and subject to one week’s notice being given from the releasing label that they wish to implement a manual reset. Manual reset shall be strictly subject to Official Charts and/or CSC approval. Perhaps the label didn't notify the OCC until Kate re-entered at 8 (though of course in which case the first underline under manual reset should exclude it). In which case the rest wouldn't happen until this week based on the above. Though I guess it depends on the definition of one week's notice. If they notified them say on June 1st so before it charted but after it was climbing on the midweeks and the one week's notice means one chart week, then I guess this week would be when the rest was instigated.... I guess we'll have to wait until they announce the data on Monday (or they make an official statement?) before we have some degree of certainty - unless anyone else know for sure (though of course they may not be allowed to say)..

ACR Status Update: 2nd June 2022
So despite a third week of decreasing in sales, Go hasn't gone to ACR. Last week's was the smallest drop so perhaps streaming either went up or declined by less than the market.

Friday Chart Predictions
I think they'd be too much egg on their face to reset now, better for them to just ignore it and the 'uproar' about it. If streams of Harry are in freefall and Kate is increasing as well as on downloads, it is possible that Kate could overtake at this point, though will be much more difficult to maintain it. Though of course Spotify data suggests that that is not the case..... We'll have a better idea when we see the actual values tomorrow. If Kate is 10,000 or more ahead then a reset definitely seems likely, but if its close then less likely.

The Buzzjack Friday Chart Show Thread: 10th June 2022
That will all depend on how rapidly Harry declines (he is expected to be on ACR in a week himself), whether Kate declines (streaming data suggests she may have peaked) and whether something else does well... As for the Global 200, it of course depends on how well she does elsewhere. Kate is no.1 in Australia and is certainly doing well in the US (and of course the UK) and several other countries so it is definitely possible..

2022 year to date estimates
Well of course they already have so many other problems with their 'official' charts....

Friday Chart Predictions
Only applies to streaming. Eseentially the streaming ratios are doubled to 1:200 and 1:1200 from 1:100 and 1:600 for premium and free streams respectively, thus halving their value in streaming equivalent sales.

2022 year to date estimates
If it's not on the album it shouldn't count. They're not streaming the album they're streaming the song. OCC should fix this.

Friday Chart Predictions
Kate's actual sales may be around 2,000 so she'd only be around 50,000 overall, so approximately 17K ahead. The latest spotify suggests she's over 100,000 streams short of doubling Harry's so the disparity is not surprising (unfortunately).

Billboard's weekly top 25 UK Songs Chart
There's a very good chance that Kate will be no.1 on this chart and in reality next week, but a smaller chance she'll be there officially.

Bearing in mind that utilizing the streaming playlists ensures that people are aware of your product so while it is true that Ed is not getting 'sales' purely from streaming, the fact he has the streaming, does to some extent, also increase the likelihood that people may end up buying the record. This is of course assuming that the streaming population and record buying population overlaps. We can clearly see that that is frequently not the case as records sell 'bucketloads' on release and then vanish in the majority of the cases unless they also have the streaming side to support their 'sales'. The fact Ed now has the deluxe edition (with 16+ tracks) does mean that he theoretically has 25% more possible streams than Adele's 12-track album does in any case - of course Ed also has at least 7 tracks that are potentially streaming thus bolstering the average compared with say 3 for Adele..... Whether it be actual sales and/or streams that Ed is catching up an din all likelihood will have the biggest album of the decade so far within 2 to 3 months, unless they start to promote '30' again (and even then he could probably would still do it) as Ed is selling 10,000+ a week and Adele is doing less than 2,000 and is only 71,800 ahead....

Friday Chart Predictions
I'd have thought if they were going to reset Kate Bush, they already would have. It seems unlikely that Kate can accumulate at least 100,000+ sales this week so its unlikely she'll officially be number 1, but in actuality (ie without ACR) its a definite maybe as she can probably reach 65,000 (without ACR). Harry will probably decline compared to last week and so Kate will probably not have to get to 65,000 (without ACR) but will probably need 100,000 to 120,000 (with ACR) to do it officially.....

ACR Status Update: 2nd June 2022
I think Bad Habits is actually the biggest song by Ed this week (without ACR)!

The Buzzjack Friday Chart Show Thread: 3rd June 2022
So last weeks official no.8 sold roughly 25,000 so without ACR Kate would be around 50,000 which would not be enough to really be no.1 (as Harry has yet to fall below 50,000).
