Christmas songs can't force anyone into ACR. They can knock them down or off the chart, but not really directly affect their streaming - unless of course they perhaps replace them on playlists. I guess knocking them off the chart could knock the song out of the collective consciousness of the listener and so do it indirectly.... I guess they can also increase the market ensuring that any decline becomes a tick of DCL/ACR clock once over 6 weeks in the charts.

    All due to ACR
  3. braindeadpj posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
Oh yes you're right I was looking at the wrong week. My apologies.
  4. braindeadpj posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
It can't be this is its 9th week in the chart. Only on DCL-2.
  5. So B.O.T.A. is now on ACR and I Ain't Worried on DCL-1 and without ACR 505 would be at 39 (according to the MW sales report)
  6. If it declined this week, then you have 2 more before ACR if not....
  7. Agreed. They probably did on the real sales charts.
  8. Ended up at 10, Bjork at 11 and Pixies at 13.
  9. Looks like Ferrari will be on ACR next week.
  10. If the rise in position is an actual increase then no, but if Doja still declines then yes. It is now on ACR.
  11. It increased last week so the worst it could be is DCL-1 if it declined this week.

With a title of '2022 year to date estimates' its not not a thread that includes discussion of pure sales either. The majority of the posts are about the 'chart sales' calculated by the mushing together of real individual purchases and the collective multiple listening/playlist streaming equivalents, but there's no harm in discussing real sales for the purists amongst us. WE know there have been multiple weeks when the no.1 was only so because of the real sales (probably even more so in the albums). Unfortunately real sale data is hard to come by.

only if you include streams, 30 is still ahead on real sales by 100,000+.

OK, i stand corrected it probably is a real increase.... Of course it is the album market that's really going down the tubes as the majority of 'sales' come from double-dipped (or even triple-dipped for GH albums) streams (counting for both the singles and albums chart - albleit at different ratios) so the real size of the music market is single 'sales' + actual sales of albums.

Interesting that it seems to be getting higher up each year. Probably a clear indication of a declining market (despite what the industry tries to tell you) rather than an actual increased interest in streaming of the track....

If track (or tracks) would have got to no.1 without ACR then yes there would be an uproar

A reset for people who have just died would be to maximize the renewed interest in their catalogue of music. Looking subjectively at the charts of old and now, you'd get the impression that the public no longer care about an artist dying as in many cases no significant resurgence is seen due to the flattening effect of ACR.

My apologies you are right. I copied it over rather than adding to it. Yes I believe B.O.T.A. is on DCL-2.

So Gangsta's Paradise is presumably still on ACR and so is really top 20?
  21. braindeadpj posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
so a 'new' top 8 (topped and tailed by reissues)
  22. braindeadpj posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
I agree with that completely. I suspect we'd only see 3 or 4 weeks of activity before many of them would return to ACR.

Only 2 days of streams are counted in the Sunday First Look so 9/10 it doesn't really paint a good picture of what we will see at the end of the charting week. Also I'm Blue was ahead in real sales last week which of course has greater impact on the first look.

I believe for this week's chart, Late Night Talking and Propeller will be on ACR, while Ferrari, Not Over Yet, Doja, History, Ku Lo Sa, Remember, Matilda, Staying Alive and Can't Be Us are on DCL-2, and B.O.T.A., SNAP, and Sunroof are on DCL-1. Everything else is either already on ACR or on SCR. So if Doja declines this week it will be on ACR next week (same with Ferrari, Not Over Yet, History, Ku Lo Sa, Remember, Matilda, Staying Alive and Can't Be Us).
  25. Interesting that Billboard did not put Lewis Capaldi in at no.1 last week. Were the physical releases from his website and so not counted? Also weird that I'm Good (Blue) didn't climb over B.O.T.A. until this week.....
